Winter DLC Speculation

I'm still confused how you get Fear of being watched by a Duck from that. Wouldn't it just translate to a normal Fear of Ducks? I mean Canophobia also isn't the Fear that a Dog might watch you
When Larson wrote it, it was just a joke so absurd, but now it's an actual fear. He practically invented a fear🤣. Gary Larson also invented the word "thagomizer", which referred to the spiky tail of stegosaurs. Now it's an official paleontologist word

oh the Madagascar teal are perfect for mixed bird aviaries, especially a Madagascar house, just that they need strict entry procedures. fresh air and weather so ponds yes. disinfected shoes and one way route and no local wildlife allowed. Would probably keep them away from the in-game lemurs as well.

ducking back into Winter speculation and some heavier set animals I think it's time we are be introduced to these guys...

i wasn't expecting them to be so adorable.

With an accompanying adult these Musk Ox calves could be flagship animals for a winter based dlc
I would really like to see a Muskox within the game. This very special looking goat would be very welcome.

Here's a link, if interested. Another one he made up is luposlipaphobia:

They're just supposed to be so silly that you shouldn't take them seriously (of course, some people do and the cartoonist actually got hate mail because people didn't get the joke)

Interesting. Already knew about the Stegosaurus Thing though

That one's actually terrifying though

Yeah. It's hard to find comic strips that have a good sense of humor like that nowadays. Only comic strip today that is still funny (to me at least) is Blondie. Otherwise, if I want something funny, I'd read the Far Side or Calvin and Hobbes

That's like how people on Tumblr invented Trypophobia. They saw some CGI images of hands with gigantic pores that made them uncomfortable and then slapped a fancy name on top of it, and now a bunch of people claim that they have it. Doctors can diagnose it, but it isn't a recognised phobia by any medical organisations.

I just finished the new scenerio and I think that it foreshadows the next pack in the same way the last career scenario of the base game foreshadowed the arctic pack.

Without giving too many spoilers, I am now convinced that our next pack will be a mountain pack and that the scenerio zoo will be set in the Himalayas (or a reproduction there of) and run by a character introduced in the Mount Meyers scenario.

Screw seasonal theming. One winter rainforest animal pack please. 😎

1. Mexican Spider Monkey
2. Matschie's Tree Kangaroo
3. Golden Lion Tamarin
4. Yellow Armadillo
5. Fishing Cat
6. Red River Hog
7. Visayan Spotted Deer
8. Two-toed Sloth sp. (WE)

For me armadillo, sloth, tamarin and big monke is enough to exceed my needs for south american tropics. Adding more carinvorans than we have for such unique continent with long isolation peroid is considered crime in my books.
Matschie's
fishing cat

fund it, idec that you've got a weird deer that I don't want in there

I was at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo a few years back and they actually had some of these guys in a flying show along with some macaws! So I'd definitely love to get these guys on the off chance we get bird displays.
Interesting. Didn't expect Ducks to ever be Part of a Flight Show

🤔 Someone in the Forum seems to have it though. Made a Thread about making the Prairie Dog Holes better so they become more realistic and won't trigger the Fear that much (seems only to be if the Holes are too regular in that Persons Case). Of course I don't know if that Person really has a Phobia of that but I think it might be possible. Afterall People can have really weird irrational Phobias

Sounds interesting 🤔
Can't wait to play it myself

I mean I like your pack and the Visayan Spotted Deer would be a cool addition. In spring I saw them at Opel Zoo close to Frankfurt, Germany. But I really do not share your antipathy against carnivores 😀.

Especially for South America we only have 2 carnivoran mammals with the Jaguar and the Giant Otter. I know the Cougar, but I associate it more with North- and Central America. I really would like to see the Ocelot for example but Fishing Cat is okay, too. The other three South American carnivorans I would like to have are not associated with rainforests but Maned Wolf and Spectacled Bear are a must in my opinion. And the Bush Dog would be a curious introduction.

That's a pack I'd love, to be honest.

Margay is better

They can also imitate the Sounds of Primates. Sadly couldn't find Footage of that though
I do not really know much about the Margay. It seems to be closely related to the Ocelot. I will watch the video later when I have time. But due to the meta wishlist and the common people knowledge the Ocelot seems to be the most likely choice for a South American small cat. And I always consider the likeliness of Integration into a speculation thread.

Afterall People can have really weird irrational Phobias
There was a time when Tumblr was infamous for romanticising mental illnesses. A ton of bogus ideas became popularised and a lot of people were self-diagnosing terrible conditions that they knew nothing about. Phobias were hit from both sides - they were invented wholesale, and people were claiming to have them when they clearly had no idea what having one was like. Case in point, I used to suffer from a phobia of horses (equinophobia, though oddly enough it didn't extend to zebras or miniature horses/ponies). Even driving past them in their paddocks made me sweat, if you'd put me near one I would have dissociated into a full-blown panic attack. I got past it through counselling and exposure therapy and now I really like horses, but I think some people equate "mild discomfort/revulsion" with "phobia" because it sounds fancier.

Another good example is public speaking. Nearly everyone gets nervous standing up in front of a large crowd, but not everyone suffers from glossophobia. Genuine phobias are not super common.

Ok, guess who's gonna give the scenario a go today

Oh, is that so? 👀

😑 I hate People like that. Sadly not the worst Thing that gets romanticized by People on the Internet

Weird Thing is I've had Canophobia once but I didn't need a Therapy. It just went away on its own someday. Arachnophobia's still mostly there though and will probably never end completely
