Hey everyone, this is the button mapping I've set up in Elite Dangerous. If anyone would like to try it, enjoy:

Sandcracka, thank you very much for this! I downloaded your custom binds file, but I have a few questions for you.

I noticed that the heatsink and lights were set to the pointer on the throttle on your image, but in my options, they were set to the left and right brackets instead. Also, It didnt work right away for me until i went into the x-55 rhino app and set the mouse X and Y axis to "mouse x" or "mouse y" instead of "fallback". Was this the right solution?

Also, i can't figure out how to navigate the menus or use headlook. Whenever i press the button you marked as headlook, it activates reverse throttle instead.

Would you mind helping me out with this? Thanks! :D

how do you find the thrust set on the small 4 way hats of the thruster, I found it very difficult to control, firing left or right when I want up or down and vices versa.

I have thrust on the stick hat at the moment. trying to practice it on the throttle.

I had this problem. I now have the left/right thrust on the upper thumb hat and the up/down thrust on the pinkie rocker.

how to use the profile file

Hi Guys,
Newbmaster here! I downloaded Ops file (thank you) and placed it in the folder that was mentioned in the post, but I cannot seem to get it working. If i pick the Saitek listed under controllers it doesn't work and if i pick the 'custom' option it still doesn't work. What's the trick to getting the custom file working so that I can try this H.O.T.A.S with all the fruit?
Thanks in advance

Have you installed the Saitek driver software? All you should need to begin with is that and selecting 'Saitek X-55' on the control options.

I'd shut down ED, remove any existing Custom.binds, install the drivers and reboot. Then see if it works. I'd avoid any older Custom.binds files right now because there have been some changes and the older files might not work properly.

The X-55 configuration generator as linked in my signature has been updated with the beta 1 functions, mainly comms-related. If anyone has a configuration which doesn't work correctly please let me know; thanks.

Thank you so much for this Sandcracka. My next noob question is how do I attach/assign the custom.binds file to my X-55? It looks like you can only assign .pr0 files to the stick unless I'm missing something. Or am I supposed to put the custom.binds file in a game directory folder? Thanks again.

I can answer this one for you. Just drop the custom.binds file here:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Make sure the game is closed when you drop the file there. Then open the game and select the Custom binding in the options.

If you rename the binding when you paste it in the folder then the new name appears in the game binding choices. I guess you could have numerous different set ups if you wanted.

I've been playing around with building out a system to generate a reference card from the custom binds automatically(ish). It's at http://www.mcdee.net/elite/; have a play with it and let me know what you think. Any and all feedback is welcome.

Awsome tool jgm for extracting your buttons from the x55. Thank you and here's some rep too +1

Have you tried it without the custom file and just using the standard setup? If you start Elite with the HOTAS connected it should pick it up and give you an option.
