Can you make playable dinos ?

It would be great running as an t rex eating people )) or as an velo living in the nature or something like that many other ppl want that too [up]

My Wishlist, bloody hoping a dev reads this

Firstly, thank you guys SOOOOOO much for making this game. As my user suggests I played Jurassic Park Operation Genesis and loved every minute of it, still one of my favourite games to date. When Evolution was announced I was bloody bursting with excitement, I actually couldn't believe we were going to get another REAL Jurassic Park management game, unlike the iPhone pay to play crap. Since then I've followed every bit of news and all the videos that have come out related to the game. From what I've seen, you've done an amazing job, but there are still some things that I "wish" to be added/fixed before final release.

So here it goes

1. Get the details right (especially the splash)
Giving credit where credits due, your attention to detail has been top notch in most areas, whether it be the building animations, dinosaur models or my personal favourite being the lens flare you get when the sun reflects off roof panels as you pass overhead, AMAZING STUFF.

Yet still in the gameplay footage I noticed that certain things were amiss, obvious ones like animations and textures needing work and vegetation popping through paths, but something massive that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is
SPLASH ANIMATIONS
I didn't see any. If a dinosaur runs through the water, whether it's small or massive, it's going to cause a splash. You can't just have rippples, there's gotta be some impact, like if a brachiosaurus decides to take a stomp in a lake, THERES GOT TO BE A SPLASH. Considering that even JPOG had decent splash effects for its time, this is one of the many details you've got to just nail to make this game feel alive, others include BLOOD AND TEARING MEAT OF CORPSE/FEEDER (just a healthy amount, I know we don't want to tick off overbearing parents and opinionists), better looking grass, etc.
I'm assuming you guys are just working on them still, but I really hope I'm assuming right, got to have details like this right to make the environment feel real and satisfying.

2. Improved guests
The guests from the gameplay trailers didn't really impress me. Seeing hoards of security guards, scientists or whatever the entertainment type was just isn't realistic. The majority of the guests should just be average tourists with different interests, like the guest system JPOG had, sure chuck in some guests specifically linked to the management paths that have been chosen, but don't make it look like they're the only ones coming to the park. And all they seem to do at this point is just walk in flocks and run in flocks, they all look like a bunch of clones. I want to see more individuality among the crowds, different looks, different reactions, different animations, you get the idea.

3. Deep water
At first I was disappointed at not seeing any mention of deeper water levels in the game or having any footage of it in the gameplay, but after looking up how many land dwellings dinosaurs were actually confirmed swimmers (not to be confused with aquatic dinosaurs) I'm not so worried about it being in game but am mentioning it anyway since it'd still be a nice aesthetic. I would've loved for specific dinosaurs to have interactions in deeper water, like wading and bathing, maybe using it for socialising like hippos do, or having the swimming dinosaurs like baryonyx and spinosaurus hunting fish from fish dispensers in the water, or better yet...
Imagine swimming carnivores lurking in the water, waiting for herbivores to approach for a drink then WHAM!!! Burst out like a crocodile and take them down, scattering the herd, MY GOD THAT'D LOOK AWESOME. But like I said, if not many land dinosaurs actually did swim then I'm not too fussed, but gonna wish anyway.

4. Fix the camera tools (specifically when focusing on the dinosaurs)
This has been mentioned a lot but gonna reiterate for safety, the camera needs more orbital freedom, at LEAST like what it was like in JPOG but by all means make it even better if you can, want to be able to look down at the dinosaurs as well as up.

5.Fix animations
Again I'm assuming you're doing this as I type, just highlighting it's importance.
If you want the game to feel and look real, the animations need to be fluid. Gameplay footage displayed obvious programming where dinosaurs often stop suddenly before engaging with something, biggest example being when a carnivore is hunting. The ceratosaurs always just runs, stops, prey doesn't notice, both wait for a good few seconds, then animation plays. Gotta make it fluid and lose the robotic nature, I know you can do it and believe in you!!!

6. Improved dinosaur behaviour
Another feature I'm hoping you don't need to work too much on. I want to see the dinosaurs act so real that it'll be like watching a Walking with dinosaurs episode.

Examples include:
Carnivores stalking and ambushing prey, group tactics, defensive herding, herbivores trying to save fellow species members if they're able to (eg. Trike fighting off Rex attacking fellow trike UNLESS ITS A DEATH DUEL), dinosaurs tend to chose a place to return to for sleep and/or tend to sleep in groups a.k.a nesting behaviour, migratory behaviour if they inhabit a large area (eg . roaming the island), members of herds calling out in concern as a fellow herd member is taken down, I could go on forever but just please just get as many behaviours in as possible.

One of the things that sucked about JPOG is that the behaviours were often really random, like I'd see trikes hit carnivores but only if they ran into them while trying to run away. When a carnivore got hungry it'd just make a mad dash to the nearest herbivore once it was in its "sights", they didn't track or stalk. I'd like to see much more sophisticated dinosaur behaviours in JWE and I'm sure we will.

7. Ranger animations.
This is a BIG WISH
Please have the rangers actually do things rather than just sit in the jeep. I want to see them drive the jeep, stop the jeep, GET OUT of the jeep and physically work on what is required e.g. Replenishing feeders, fixing/maintaining fences, examining sick/injured dinosaurs like DR.HARDING IN THE FIRST FILM!!!! C'mon guys this should be a must have, I don't like the look of just driving to said issue, clicking a button and *Bing* good as new.
Also wishing the dinos interact with the jeeps and gyrosoheres, if I make a max agro Rex, it'd better play with that gryosphere like its new ball and eat the unlucky guests inside (within violence parameters of course)
P.S someone mentioned adding ACU ground squads like the one in Jurassic World and OOOOOH BOY I could not agree more, if you don't have these add them, if you do have them make them amazing please, please, please.

8. Lethal options.
I understand it can be considered grim and there'll be players that'll absolutely abuse the use of them ,heck I myself had a couple of shooting sprees in JPOG, they had auto gun turrets for crying out loud. While I'm not saying go nuts with the guns eg. gun turret, there should be multiple ways to handle out of control dinosaurs, including using a proper rifle that is for shoot to kill or the use of a lethal gene(like in JPOG), strictly for out of control dinosaurs of course, this isn't GTA. It just seems both realistic and beneficial to gameplay if lethal options are included, it makes for a way to quickly eliminate threats to guests, and if you haven't researched all the disease treatments, it could be an option to put the sick dino down before the others get infected and die, the again forcing kids into that ultimatum would be a huge red flag so yeah just take it as you like.
if you're worried about people going on poaching sprees you could incur penalties for abusing the power like degrading the parks reputation, loss of funds etc. JPOG had a similar system for players that poached their dinos.

9. Dinos notice the ACU chopper.
I know they can have interactions with the jeep (still unconfirmed if they can attack it hence why I mentioned it before), but I couldn't tell if they notice the helicopter, it didn't seem like they did.
I'd love to see herds scatter if you get too close to them, running away in fear, or calling out in curiosity (Emphasis on getting to close, as in lowest altitude and right above the dinosaurs, in JPOG dinosaurs would go into a panic WHENEVR a chopper flew overhead and it was really irritating, you guys don't seem to have given them this behaviour though so Good job!). And if you fire at a dinosaur and miss they should notice, heck they should notice If you hit them. Like imagine you're trying to tranq a Rex, you hit it, it looks up at the chopper and lets out a massive roar (she's mad) then runs off in hopes of the chopper losing sight of it.

Better yet, you're trying to hit a raptor, aiming down the sights for precision, you miss the shot, it notices and looks DIRECTLY at the player, letting out a threatening hiss. At this point the player is thanking god they're high out of the raptors reach, feeling a little uneasy that the raptor knows exactly what's up.

10. THIS IS THE LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT WISH

Don't rush this, just sit back, focus and do what you guys do best, make an awesome game.

Don't worry about the people making HUGE demands like adding flying and aquatic dinosaurs (I've thought it through and honestly, the game doesn't need them right now despite the moasasaur being a staple of Jurassic world, maybe add them but at a much later date), dont worry about people saying the dinosaurs need to be more "realistic looking" (seriously people Jurassic park doesn't use feathers, the dinosaurs don't need feathers, deal), or people asking for crazy things like adding roller coasters, like really??? go buy planet coaster
Also I'm not sure how many of my wishes are already being addressed so if you are, great! If you aren't, I hope at least a few wishes come true.
Just do what you can guys, you've done great so far and am sure you'll deliver in the end, good luck and thanks!!!

If true that the monorail serves as a "Portal" to bring guests on the Island/Park, I dont like that approach.

I personally dont like the way visitors come to Planet Coaster through that cave. I always wanted a realistic approach like a parking lot or similar.

My wish:

The only way visitors should arrive in the Park is via Boat or Helicopter. Thats it. Even JPOG did know that !

I already responded to this thread but I thought of a few more things.

1. In the development build the dinosaur interactions seemed like they needed some work. Specifically, when the ceratosaurs were facing triceratops it felt a bit like watching attack animations in an RTS game. The ceratosaur nipped, the triceratops lunged, neither of them visible touching all the while, and this repeated until the ceratosaurs health was depleted and it fell over. Recalling JPOG, it looked much more realistic simply when the triceratops lunged, the predator got impaled on the horns, bled everywhere, let out a roar, and keeled over. In the development build we never saw the horns of the triceratops actually puncture the ceratosaur. Likewise, it seems like it should also be an option for the ceratosaur to back down and run away instead of engaging. It also would be nice to to see the predator try a juke type move to get around the horns and try to bite the neck, etc. There needs to be some element of randomness, rather than the dinosaurs simply taking turns in attack animations every single interaction.

Also, the struthiomimus really needed to run when they were being attacked/ chased by the ceratosaurs. It seemed very static.

It would also be nice if the dinosaurs decided to walk around in a relaxed fashion rather than always running when they chose to move.

It would be really great to watch small carnivores stalk the grass for small prey. Perhaps the raptors, and ornithomimids, the dilophosaurs. Which feeds into the next item.

2. Thinking about it, it would be really nice to be able to place a nice big log down as an added terrain feature. Seeing a struthiomimus stalk around a log and then snap up a rat or lizard or something would add a big element towards making the dinosaurs seem real.

3. For the smaller dinosaurs it would seem realistic if they could survive, or at least supplement their diet, without a feeder. Seeing herbivores browse on foliage or the aforementioned small carnivores stalking small prey in the foliage. For the suchomimus, spinosaurus, or potential baryonyx it would be really amazing to see them snap up some fish from the bodies of water. And on this note it would be nice to see all the dinosaurs have specific habitat tendencies that would promote their happiness in their enclosure. For example the spinosaurs, suchomimus, baryonyx requiring larger bodies of water where they fish. Or some sort of habitat specificity desired for certain species. Also cows, are there guna be cows? It would be nice to have the option to feed a cow instead of a goat.

Totally agree, i think your first suggestion is the most valuable one. Frontier please consider it seriously in this months and hice ya realistic behaviours and animations foto the dinosaurs.

Agreed

Monorail is stupid. Should be a boat, then we have a choice of using monorail to take people from the docks to the main center.

ISLAND CREATOR

An option in Jurassic World Evolution that would allow players to create their own island from scratch, by terraforming and also being able to add anything that can appear in the game (every building, tree, animal, guest... in other words, every unit and feature available within the game). This would allow the player to use, see and test EVERY feature that the game has to offer. For example, if we would like to create an island full of Spinosaurus, and other carnivorous creatures, this would be possible through this game mode. There wouldn't be any limitations on WHAT could be done, and the fact that it would be a "CREATIVITY MODE" will make the game even MORE awesome than it was originally intended ("building and managing parks in a couple of islands").

No, absolutely not; Jurassic World Evolution is a park builder, being able to control the dinosaurs defeats the purpose of having to house dangerous and chaotic animals. If a Tyrannosaurus escapes, the tension and sense of danger is gone because all the player needs to do is to take control of the dinosaur and walk back into the enclosure.

Why not have a entire game that was designed to have playable dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park universe from the start?

Instead of trying to make this game into a jack of all trades that would satisfy no one and take the developer's attention from more important things to do with JW:E; such as adding more dinosaurs, creating pterosaurs and marine reptiles, a few additional hybrids, more attractions and amenities, and general bug fixing.

A mode like this might be restricted in a site b mode. And do keep in mind this is a wishlist.

JW:E is literally the game of my dreams. My childhood was spent playing and dreaming about JPOG and the JP series.

I only have two requests:

1. Site B mode. Let the dinosaurs roam free on an island (preferably Sorna), let them form their own ecosystems and do their own thing without having to worry about park management, visitors. Breeding would be an awesome addition but I understand if it's too hard to implement beyond the standard game features. But Site B mode would be an excellent way to increase the game's ability to be played over and over. I do not think the JPOG fan base would still be so strong 15 years later if it didn't have a Site B mode.

2. Hear out my explanation before completely dismissing this one... feathered dinosaurs. I get and agree that there are dinosaurs that have not been feathered in the canon and have very good continuity reason to not be feathered in the game (like Velociraptor). However, I feel Frontier can really reach out to a broader audience by including some form of feathered dinosaurs in the game. Participating in various online dinosaur enthusiast community, I have seen an astounding amount of backlash and hate for the JP franchise for its complete omission of feathers. This is coming even from people who grew up with and loved the movies when they were younger. If the game were to have some feathered dinosaurs it could break down the stonewalling and utter dismissal many dinosaur enthusiasts have sadly had towards the JP franchise, and win some of these past JP fans back over.

It could be incorporated to the game in a very reasonable way. As I understand it, one of the aspects of the Science route is obsession with full genomes. This is fully compatible with having some feathered dinosaurs; in fact I don't see how those in-game characters pushing the science route could completely ignore a very real part of certain species' real-life appearance. Include them as an appearance option for the most accurate, genetically complete, specimens of certain species. These species would be ones outside of the movie canon - ones like Struthiomimus, Archaeornithomimus, Therizinosaurus (if it ends up in the game). Ones that have very good evidence of being feathered. And the feathers don't have to be crazy poofy or extensive (see the illustration in that link). It could even come down to something as simple as having a "feathery" body skin texture and a bit of extra filaments on the arms. Dare I say it, it could even be a way to distinguish Deinonychus from Velociraptor (instead of that, ahem, less than aesthetically pleasing crest).

The feathered option wouldn't have to be the only science option; in other appearance options you could keep them scaley and explore other science things like gene splicing with other animals. That way you satisfy a larger audience. Those who like accuracy can get their feathered dinosaurs, those who hate feathered dinosaurs can play completely through the game without ever having to glance upon a single one. It would be awesome if Frontier could play a part in breaking down the divide between the JP franchise and a certain segment of serious dinosaur fans.

I hope the Frontier team at least considers these thoughts. I'm really looking forward to the game!

If true that the monorail serves as a "Portal" to bring guests on the Island/Park, I dont like that approach.

I think that there should be a place where boats and helicopters land and then guest get on a monorail and Trevor through to the park ( you should be able to see where the people get on the island

Another thought:

I just saw the Apatosaurus species profile. It would be awesome if Frontier could modify the front feet (hands) so that they only have a claw on the thumb instead of on all the digits, as was the case for the real Apatosaurus and also the design featured in Jurassic World itself (see the website).

I should add - having only a clawed 'thumb' was a feature common to most sauropods. Some later ones (Cretaceous titanosaurs) did not have any claws at all on the front feet. So this suggestion would apply to dinosaurs like Camarasaurus as well. This article has some more information. Incorporating this into the models would be another small gesture that could help make peace with the accurate dinosaur fans.

Here are a few dinosaurs I would like to see included

1. Dracorex
2. Atrociraptor
3. Balaur
4. Darwinsaurus
5. Dollodon
6. uisaurus
7. Iguanacolossus
8. Iguanodon
9. Koreanosaurus
10. Angaturama
11. Concavenator
12. uiraptor
13. Gojirasaurus
14. Indosuchus
15. Megalosaurus
16. Rajasaurus
17. Sauroniops
18. Yangchuanosaurus

These are of course just suggestions. But if the DLC support lasts long enough I would like to see all of them get added to the game eventually. And more as well.

wishlist

I would really like to see good Dinosaur AI, especially on the focus of social groups. so if you have a big enclosure with 4 species they will grow accustomed to having their own area in the enclosure and stay together with possible hunting packs, hierarchy, etc (all depending on the species) if you have a big enclosure with both carnivores and herbivores the AI states what they will do, if you have 2 Raptors and a group of 8 stegosauruses in 1 enclosure they won't attack them (to dangerous and the Raptors are smart enough to know). but if the group gets disbanded for some reason than the 1 left behind stegosaurus could be attacked by the raptors. this can also give a very good gameplay element where you could get prestige bonuses (like in planet coaster for a good cue) that an enclosure that shows more liveliness would gather a greater audience. this also means you could get probably get very big prestige bonuses when you have predators and herbivores in 1 enclosure but with the right amount that there will be tension but no attacks.

the same with all other social behaviors of the Dinosaurs, if they see something moving that's not the other dinosaur they should still react to it (gyrosphere, old tree falling down, etc) this also gives a very nice gameplay element that you make sure the Gyrospheres cant get to the nest of a Stegosaurus otherwise they will get mad and go football with the gyrosphere. (electronic boundary's for the spheres please, something like a freeform selection tool to make boundary)

Nice that there is a thread for this!

1) More world customization: I want to build my own own park! And I like to bring details in it to give it more 'uniqueness'. Bridges over river I made, Tall grass, maybe Palm trees.
Simply more special and customizable structures like benches, you know what I mean?

2) Other species of Dinosaurs: I would love to see aqua dinosaurs and flying ones! For that you have to build deeper water or a cave / underground part.

3) More defense structures: Only a fence? No! I want to protect my visitors and some automatic submachine guns or a gas would be nice. The raptors should escape, but more defense structures would be neat!

4) Visitor control: When I can control jeeps and helicopters, why not a visiter? Walk around in my own park, go into hotels or shops visit my park. This would be awesome!
4.5) Configurable shops: Buildings where I can change the costs, collection?

5) Visitor interactivity: Guest should interact with the park. Even sit on benches or throw sth. in the trashcan.

6) Dinosaur AI: I don't say much, because I see it a lot in this thread :)

7) Day/Night cycle: " "

8) More ways to show the dinosaurs: There are some ways where visitors can see the dino, but it would be nice to see more buildings or ways to show my guests the raptors!

9) A CO-OP or Multiplayer freature: I know most games of this type don't have one, but I mean building one park together or be a visitor in another park would be just awesome!

X) A wishlist system: This is not a game freature, but it would be awesome for the community! Like a vote system for the wishes the community have, so everyone can vote up for a freature another one want (the first one will appear at the top) and a search system. I have seen that in discord so far.

Perhaps if you click on the monorail, you can be shown a cut-scene of guests arriving. This might satisfy those wishing to see them coming as well as those that have no interest in doing so.

I agree that a Gentle Giants Petting Zoo would be neat, but I think Frontier confirmed that there will be no kids in the game.

Considering the fact that guests can be eaten, it makes sense that there will be no kids in the game. I did not think of this when making my comment. Thanks for your comment.
