If it were to happen, i could see some people's block lists becoming rather massive![]()
Especially now that the game keeps a historical listing of all the Commanders you come across!

Hardly. Math cannot be used as an opinion.
3 size 6 slots used for defenses opens up 96 passengers for +++ influence in solo and private. Or I could use that same build in open and risk getting blown up vs my opponents in seconds because of premium and special effect weapons.(pythons in colonia are the META ship to do this in.)
You guys have seen all the posts about "OMG MUH DEFENSELESS SHIPS".
There are builds for open and builds for solo.
Builds for solo are stripped down just the same as open ships are built up and maxed out. More Cr/H, More +++ per hour, and so on.
Ive seen people combat log in solo and private while doing this by the way. They got caught by an NPC while BGSing in their system. They just logged out, cant even be reported.(streamers)
The difference between you and I is this.
I post video Evidence, Math, Screenshots and more proving the need for change. Ya'll are stuck on how the game is now. We are all well aware how the game is now. And games like ELITE WILL ALWAYS CHANGE.
One of the big reasons Elite will change is because of the general populations progression within the game. As people get more time and reach their goals, they start spreading out to other parts of the game they never knew existed. Thats why there is a steady group of people over time showing the problems within the modes.
How long was the Hotel California thread extended? And why was this part of the sub forum created if they wernt ever going to do anything about it?
Why does almost every thread end up leading back this one question when PVP or griefing is brought up. LOOOOOOOOOOONG BEFORE I GOT HERE!.
Yo pay attention to their streams, Pay attention to the things they are doing in the game RIGHT NOW. NONE of the changes stem from Private and Solo. 75% of Beyond changes are because of the actions in OPEN play OR in private and solo where people directly effect others(THANK YOU ATR's).
Ive said it before and I will say it again. This whole game is based on the actions of other players. In each system there are +++ missions. In each system there are cops. Each ship has modules, and speed and turning power. Each weapon has a cause and effect. Things like wake scanners, grom missiles and so on.
Powerplay and BGS player factions. The list goes on and on.
If anybody is going against what Fdev wants. Its you guys fighting against it.
Thats why he says "thats a bit of a hand gernade" every-time it shows up. But what he didnt see and Ive made sure to point out. Is its the same 5-7 people showing up anywhere and everywhere this topic is brought up.
While there are thousands else where that want changes made to this. But they want a level playing field first. And guess what we just got in 3.0.
Hot DANG! I love being right. WOOO
Honestly block lists should only be Comms only. There are other modes you can go to if you are looking for personal progression. The options are already there for that.
Given that Frontier only recently changed how block lists affect matchmaking, I wouldn't hold my breath. This game was designed from the ground up around PwP, not PvP. I doubt that will change anytime soon.
No offense m8, but I've been flying in Shieldless tin-can Configs in Open and I've been flying in massive Tanks in PG modes just as well.
I've survived in Shieldless builds in Open and have been blown up by NPCs in a Tank in Open just as well.
There's only different builds : risky builds and less risky builds. Regardless of mode. Your choice. If you're good (or lucky), you'll likely survive - if you screw up, you can lose your Ship. In any mode.
PS.
All I'm ever seeing is "OMG MUH DEFENSELESS FACTION IS BEING OVERRUN BY {not_my_game_mode} PLAYERS 11!!1".
My response : do something about it!
Flying circles in SuperCruise in a fully decked out Combat Ship in Open Play on your Platform is not an intelligent way to be successful in the BGS.
By now, one would think a 7 year old should be able to understand that. Game is PEGI-7.
BGS simply doesn't mean sticking your Cutter into the Station entry and expecting a 100.0% control rate over every single Player ship that docks there. That whole idea is ridiculous. It's just not how it works *lol*
Simple Reason : The game and its mechanics do not revolve around you and/or your Platform and/or your Game mode used! Learn it. Memorize it. Understand it. Act accordingly.
.... PVP wings and blockades would actually work in this game.
You've had this explained to you, no they wouldn't - only Frontier can do a blockade.
With instancing, block feature, instance limits being low and anyone with a bad ping messing the match maker about - you can only interact with a small portion of the player base.
Unless Frontier move away from Peer to Peer and do a proper server / client config, you're never going to be able to defend a system / station properly.
We have players in our group all across the world. Just because I cannot see them doesnt mean others cant.
Did you know I've met some guys that use VPN's just to fight the people and stop them if they are in open?
I played with guys from Germany, Austria, Australia even.
The thing is, it would at least give us a shot at stopping someone. More than what we have now.
Other wise the shoe is on the other foot and you're "Forcing a playstyle on me".
And I want to opt out of it the same way the rest of you around here OPT out of PVP.
And there are plenty of people in open you'll never see, nor your friends.
My mate in Wales is someone with a connection so bad he never gets matched with anyone in open.
I can wing up with him in open and it's just the two of us for hours on end.
If my family members start streaming Netflix / Amazon Music (family of 5, lots of PC's / Android devices / Consoles etc) - with my cheap Sky connection, I don't see anyone either.
This dream of yours that someone in your group will catch anyone else in game is just that, a dream.
Lots of things can stop people from ever being visible to other players. Ignoring this fact doesn't make it go away.
Do you know I know people who turn off uPnP to avoid others in open?
And I had a woman from Australia ask me to leave the UK and marry her, what's that got to do with the fact players cannot run an effective blockade? or that not everyone will be caught in open?
Not unless P2P is removed. It leaves too many ways to bypass those running the blockade.
You bought a PvE game, where PvP is optional and not important.
The shoe is very much on the foot it should be on. If you didn't want a PvE game, why buy one?
As above, you bought a PvE game, so that's your mistake not ours.
But they are PVEing to effect another player group.
Where PVP is indeed a thing in this game. But optional?
And you combat that via PvE.
The entire game can be played in Solo.
So PvP isn't "a thing".
You can go from Sidewinder to Cutter / 'Vette / 'Conda - without ever shooting a gun at any other player (or NPC if you really want to go for it).
You can get Elite Explorer, Elite Trader without ever fitting a gun and get Elite Combat by only shooting NPCs
PvP is completely optional in this PvE token pushing game.
League of Legends is a PVE token pushing game too.
This is going to seem odd to you at first. But watch this video ALL OF IT:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGtROJeMPeE
Now that you have watched the video, you can see what Elite is missing out on here.
Think of each champion as a ship. Think of the items they buy as the outfitting and kitting of that ship.
Think of the nexus as their home system. Think of the towers as the outter systems.
Think of the minions as different levels of cops/ATR in this game.
The difference is League is on a level playing field where we can use those ships and items we spent time and credits for in this game against the people we are fighting.
In Elite Dangerous its whomever can PVE the most, has the most cargo space, and has the most time. The NPC's only fight back so much.
You probably didnt watch the video though, you can see the give and take Riot Games gives here with their Risk and Reward program. These two games are actually very very similar when it comes the objectives based gameplay.
The only thing thats missing is the ability to engage one another.

You want to compare a PvP MOBA game to a PvE Space Simulation?
Why not compare Windows 7 to Windows from Safestyle? Sure they are both "Windows", but they serve two different purposes. Elite and LoL are both games, but serve two different ways of gaming.
The only competitive part of Elite that can be used for competitions like LoL is CQC. Yet you ignore that.

However everything would have been different. Things like wake scanners, Grom Missles, HatchBreakers all sorts of things would be used. PVP wings and blockades would actually work in this game. You should be able to defend your own system.
No, none of this would work. You still don't get it.
BGS != PvP Ship Combat
PvP Wings and Blockades = we're having fun - but we're not effective because we're ignorant to fundamental BGS rules & limitations and the Game's very own Network Infrastructure
See that's your decision. If you'd rather have fun and accept that you're ineffective, then by all means do so. Then that's your Priority.
Everything you dream of would only work in this game, IF
- Client/Server architecture with no Player limit. Single Instance.
- No regional Architectures
- No platform Network borders (PC/Mac v.s XBOX v.s. PS4)
- Your PvP Wings are able to man SuperCruise 24/7, 7 Days a week, 365 Days per year. Nonstop. Not a single Minute interruption.
(you have hundreds of Players from all Continents and spanning all Timezones who are willing to work 8hr Shifts, nonstop, the entire year)
Wake up. It's a dream - and even IF it worked, hell I wouldn't want to be part of such a "2 parallel unpaid fulltime jobs" Group within the Game. No thanks.
PS.
Attitude problems and Denial like that really are part of what gave those "we don't understand the BGS but want to PvP all the way and still have our cake & eat it" folks a bad reputation.
Advertising Open Play is one thing, but repeatedly trying to "wag the dog" doesn't work. World doesn't bend to "this is how I like to play - so the rest of the entire Player population has to do as we do" ideas.
You play the BGS the way you prefer. Others do the same. Personal preference of playstyle is not a 1-way road. Another detail many "PvP/Open Only" try to ignore with an almost religious intensity.
No man, im looking at the mechanics of the games.
The only thing thats different is a structured ladder.
Take that away and look at the meat of the game with powerplay and player factions and there is literally no difference here dude.
Honestly block lists should only be Comms only. There are other modes you can go to if you are looking for personal progression. The options are already there for that.
