I thought you were signed up for the Autumn Odyssey expedition, doesn’t that depart this weekend?

Right, I was. Untill this opportunity of enjoying a fore-taste of the Armageddon of Humanity jumped in ! For science ! :D

since there is only one galaxy implemented in ED then Raxxla cannot hold ”alien construct that’s a gateway to other Universes, and all that’s in those Universes in the way of bounty, and treasures, and aliens, and life.” So I suspect it may hold a means to unlock some currently permit-locked area of this galaxy.

Since 95% of the nature of our Universe is unknown (99.99% in the Newtonian ED where even light is faster than light), Raxxla could pretty well open us a new Universe inside our Universe or a new MW inside the MW... Just needs some imagination and creativity, major flaw of FD. Some lore says Thargs live in "witch-space" iirc... And, actually, the "hyperdiction" concept leads that way. Would be cool Raxxla allowing us to hyperdict !

***ing Gauss guns ! I swear to myself never to grind again ! (...again )

I would like to think that we would find some alien structure that instantly allows us access to anywhere in the galaxy e.g. Beagles point, but I think all we may find is a rock called Raxxla.

Oh I think there will be something there,
possibly the permit to open up Bovomit Sector which is, I suspect, where FD have put the Guardian AI. I suspect Bovomit was originally going to be the Thargoid area of space but FD seem to have had a redesign sometime around Jaque’s misjump and they moved the goids in the Col70 direction.

edit: actually, if that hypothesis is true then it might make sense for Raxxla to lie out in that direction after all; I do think Raxxla will turn out to be the Guardian homeworld....

Bovomit is at ~(-20000,0,-7000) while Colonia is at ~(-9500,-1000,20000) - so it's further away from Colonia than it is from Sol. I don't see why Jaques moving would cause a rethink of what to use Bovomit for.

The whole Orion-Col70-Cone permit cluster went in with 2.1, a month before Jaques jumped or the UAs were delivered, too.

Bovomit's direction certainly would fit with a "between Pleiades and Polaris" FFE-compatible understanding of the direction of Thargoid space, though.

Raxxla might well tur out to be Guardian in some form, but I kind of doubt it's the homeworld.

From the few descriptions we have, Raxxla isn't anything special. It's the gateway(alien construct) that makes it valuable.

Rafe Zetter's words are: "on Raxxla there's an alien construct that's a gateway to other Universes, and all that's in those Universes in the way of bounty, and treasures, and aliens, and life…"

and: "We've long suspected that a corps of Elites lives there, and are exploiting the gateway."

Both sentences points to the importance of the gateway. The planet could be any dull rock.

The question is who would build such a gateway?
- I don't think the religious traditionalist Guardians on the home world would.
- The colonists from the three slower than light Ark ships probably didn't get very far. I guess they were re-assimilated with the rest of the Guardians, as soon as FTL travel was available.
- The exiles the group of Guardians that had adopted implants to utilize sentient AI, is a decent candidate. There are no records of where they went and they would have the motivation to move far away. They were also probably the most advanced 'meat creatures' this galaxy have seen.
- The constructs. The Guardian AI that destroyed their own creators. These would have lived on in the monolit-network and in all the sentient machines. How they have developed later, is unknown. They may have found new 'meat hosts', they may have joined the exiles or found entirely new ways to maintain their existence.

Hi, I've read the first posts and didn't found reference to it, so I've got a question: I've seen references in reddit about some FDev statement saying that someone had jumped into the system containing Raxxla, didn't notice it and jumped away. Is this true?.

It's a forum/reddit myth. That statement has never been backed by a source.

I thought that the ftl drive details were sent to the Ark ships, though my memory may be faulty.

I suspect the power behind the PF are Guardian-related, maybe the AI... we shall see (in about 6 years time)

no you misunderstand me. I don’t think Jaques’ misjump was the cause of the redesign, but another product of it. I don’t have any idea what caused the redesign, but it does seem that previous plans were reformed, e.g. the locking of Col70 et al which were previously accessible and partially explored.

Well, looks like I owe someone 26t of Jaque's rare goods. Raxxla will have to wait for another day. Not that any of us are ever going to find it.

Putting Raxxla in the Cone Sector would have been a mistake on FDev's part.
Not that they're against making mistakes - but when MB was involved at least the mysteries made sense.

As I always say, I hope Raxxla is totally independant from the Thargs/Guardians lines. Who in his sane judgement could imagine FDevs sending a rush of 11 000 Cmdrs in a megaship right to Raxxla ???
