Modes Idea for game mode resources being non transferable

No thanks. Open only soz
But may I direct you to a game of solitaire and a cup of hot chocolate with marshmellows

Why thank you I do enjoy a game of solitaire and a cup of cocoa from time to time, especially when the weather turns colder...which hopefully be soon. But again.. you say no thanks Open Only, yet you BOUGHT a game that doesn't have that and are trying to make it that. Rather short sighted I am afraid.

In regards to the idea that what happens in a mode stays in a mode.

What I see being suggested is that anything you have/earn is locked to that one specific mode and can not be transfered in any way to another, is that the basic idea of it?

Would a commander have to purchase extra copies of the game to have access to more than one mode (each one having its own assets)? FDev would have extra costs so some renumeration is a valid request from them.

Would each PG need its own commander, if not would not the issue still be an issue especially with PGs that have PvP?

If that is all that would be changed I don't see how it would actually benefit players in general.

Unless the BGS is divided up the biggest issues discussed would still be a problem.

Dividing the BGS seems like asking FDev to run x number of different universes each unfolding in different ways, I think that is a bit much to ask.

All in my opinion of course

I guess you're in the wrong thread then. I've arbitrarily decided that this thread is now an open only thread. And I authored it.

Open only, soz

Oonutzy,

Apologies
I would have not had each be paid. And I would have it that your solo and private are linked.
But I have no confidence in this forum now frankly. Especially not as an engine to discuss divisive topics.
And I have a greater appreciation for the difficulties facing Fdev.
Apologies again

True open only seems to be a selfish request when you consider what the game was/is based on.

PvP can be a lot of fun, especially if every one is looking forward to it. Its pretty lame if only one side has any chance of winning and one side doesn't even want to play.

As far as cold weather, 2" of snow today for a total of about 5.5 inches this week. Now if it could stay off the dang sidewalks it would be great :}

Of course that

My cmdrs gonna go on a senseless slaughtering spree in elite dangerous soon.
Sometimes it's fun when one side isn't looking forward to it. Like the gnosis.

Thats ok.

Even if it was just two commanders per account the increase in resources/dev time would give FDev a reasonable right to ask for some premium charge since the game is not subscription based. Still thats neither here nor there.

As far as the idea goes, I feel it needs more work, to define the problem it is trying to address. Is it credits being got in another mode/engineering? Is it the idea of being able to get revenge on those that shoot you?

What is the expected net effect of the idea going to be, and is that net effect worth the effort to implement the idea.

I dont really know the answers or even if my answers would match up with others, but discussion is certainly worth the effort.

If its just certain areas this would help

Interesting... I researched and paid for Elite Dangerous so I knew what game I was paying for... you know as in real money, you apparently did not and now you try to alter the game.

Signing into the forums, cost me nothing. Nor does actually discussing the game and what would be good, bad, fair, and unfair for the players. To "arbitrarily" decide that since you "authored" the thread that you can dictate who or who can't post on it and who is "wrong" is nothing more than trolling. In fact you can make duplicate accounts if you want as there is no game purchase tied to the creation... so certain people, lets says a few who want "open only", yet they feel they don't have enough support amongst the "visual" game community (aka the ones on the forums) can easily create a new account and straight away start parroting the claims and requests and comments that they have on their main accounts. Now that wouldn't be you..... would it?

Of course that

PvP can be fun, I still have fond memories of it from when I could PVP. But you are correct, Everyone has to be looking forward to it. One sided PVP in my mind isn't PVP, it is Domination. And sadly we've seen it it played out in this game multiple times, and strangely by quite a few who demand the game be "open only".

I will gladly take the snow off your hands ^,^.

Hey, to each their own right?

Seems like it would be pretty boring.

I never felt it was much fun unless the other side could beat me. In EvE on-line CAS would get a legion of starter ships and just go on a low/nul sec roam. Got blown up plenty and even did some damage to the big guys. Pretty much everyone was in the mood as it were.

In this game I am on the bottom of the food chain but dont mind being blown up when I am in the mood.

Erm, no I don't have two accounts.
Confirmation bias?
Would love to watch some old videos of you pvping. Can you link some please

Oh, open only , soz

OOnutzy,
Look sorry but I'm already totally done with this as a constructive thread.
Apologies, this has nothing to do with you but I'm not taking this seriously anymore

Duc, I'll make you the exact same deal I did with T90'sK (the name he used before he changed his forum name to WorldsGreatestForumDad) which is if you truly think the PvE "forum community" is the minority in this game, simply rally your troops and get a nice huge couple of Private Groups of PvPers together similar to Mobius PvE to demonstrate exactly how many actual customers are playing Elite Dangerous and support your idea. T90's boasted that it would be "easy" to do. Perhaps you might take up his mantle here and show us how "easy" it really is?

Mobius PvE exceeded the Private Groups limit at least twice... that's 20,000 members each- x2. 40,000+ accounts altogether.

If you really want to get Frontier's attention... that's the way to do it. You can post here (or Reddit, etc.) all you like, simply asserting that others are "persecuting" you or others for similar interest, yada yada, but at the end of the day, money talks- and we know what walks.

Why would it be important, you might ask? To join a Private Group- you must first have actually purchased the game (and therefore be a customer, not just a critic) secondly, it's verifiable by numbers within the game, not just some sort of 3rd party social media venue.

Put simply... it's the simplest and most verifiable way to justify your opinion with Frontier- instead of baseless assertions without substantiated proof.

To anyone interested in the topic....

Do you think this idea would increase or decrease the population in open or perhaps a net effect of 0

Would it make the idea of a large PvP PG more popular or viable (think a mini Mobius or something)

If the idea is to make PvP more meaningful (whatever that means) would it work? Would it punish a style of play, if so is that what is wanted?

I dont think the idea of a large PvP private group is a bad idea, it would be a place where everyone was interested in the whole hunt and be hunted schtick.

But right now the PvPers/PKers have a free run, kind of a top of the world position, and a PG would just limit their targets and at least a portion of them dont want that.

In my opinion that is (as always)

Hell, they wouldn't even have to actively play in the PG... just create it.

I don't even see it happening... because I really don't believe there are even that many players who share the same opinions. I think the gaming world is a bit more diversified than some would like to believe... as even in Mobius PvE there are players who freely choose to join Open at times for a bit of PvP.

But that's also an inherent difference in the ability of free choice, rather than corralling everyone into a single game mode without the ability to choose.
