Similar to the ground base in the system with the DW Installation then, according to GalMap owned by PF Local and DW is minor faction. PF don't run it though as controlling faction, cant remember who it is.

Confirm dust is from core roid mining, looks cool in that light though.

think Beagle Landing was named when the scientist died in memory of him, that was the reason one of them was named anyway, not sure its that one. So maybe not Christmas Eve related.

Anyone checked out EDSM dashboard map recently? Mine shows Santa leaving Beagle Point on a route to the bubble, is it a message, am I special?

Well, on DW2 I took several weeks to get to Beagle Point. Hope Dancer, Prancer and Rudolph have had a good meal of quirium-soaked oats otherwise Santa won’t get to Earth on time, never mind deliver all those presents to every child on the planet during Christmas night! 😗

Those types are gone. Types usually offered are:

Probably more types I haven't seen.

At the risk of dredging up a long buried section of this thread for not much gain, I just want to seek the collective wisdom on the latest 'Job Offer' messages and any relevance to rankings with PF in my quest for TDW/TRDW.

I decided on a whim to re-visit the SD beacons on the PF / Elite and was scanning the Pilots Federation Near Monopoly when I received a Job Offer invitation.

Has anyone else ran into this in Shinrarta Dezhra specifically?

I should clarify I'm only double Elite (still climbing in Combat), and am fully Allied with the DW but no one else in SD.

Fairly sure I’ve had JO in SD, but they seem the same as anywhere else. Seem to pop up after 30 mins or more in-system, got a few on my travels out to Hutton Orbital. But FD could well use a common mechanism as a TRDW test, so the only solution is to successfully complete those & see if anything happens.

Stll trying to find the DB interview/presentation reported by Koben, so far unsuccessful but found a couple I hadn’t seen before.

I’m wondering if the test is to get allied with “PilotsFederation” by killing goids as that seems to be the only mechanism to rank with that particular variation of PF. But still believe we also need to find TRDW station & think that should be locateable.

I’m also only elite in trade & exploration. IFF DB said you have to be elite to find Raxxla (as per Koben’s claim) then I suspect it probably means in combat. We need to find that video!

I've been through ALL videos Frontier have available on their youtube channel and it is no longer there... they might have unlisted/removed it.

For me, the silverline of that interview is the "if you're at the correct place and you scan it enough..." and "it is most likelly to reveal itself". All of this implies at you have already to be somewhat sure of its location and then it would reveal itself once scanned enough.

There are some other curious things in Sol... I'm there right now parked inside the asteroid field and I was trying to fly in with my second account and even with wing beacons "On", I'm unable to drop together with myself... and according to EDDB, there are still the Kuiper belt and some other bodies not listed in Sol's in-game system map.

In RL, Jupiter has 79 known moons. In ED it has 4.
We aren't able to detect bodies smaller than 135km radius, unless they are in a cluster or a ring.

There are endless opportunities for hidden bodies in every system in general and Sol in particular.

I went through all the FD YT channels a few months ago when I’d damaged my shoulder & couldn’t play. I suspect what you saw wasn’t an FD vid. It might have been an independent vid (he’s talked at TED, Baftas etc etc) or with a livestreamer; are you sure it was a video & not an audio podcast?

And are you sure of the date?

The point about Sol is that EDDB shows a couple of bodies listed, also some asteroid fields... and they do not appear on system map but I was able to find one of the asteroid fields and I'm parked at it.

Just found an interesting interview with DB https://www.pcgamer.com/david-braben-on-arena-and-the-future-of-elite-dangerous/ :

“There are missions out there I know almost no players have seen,”... need to befriend the minor factions....missions take you round the galaxy...
Might be the way?

DB "It’s a shame, because the missions actually drive you around the galaxy. But if you keep going back to the same place, you won’t venture very far."

Did Fd originally hold expectations for Cmdr to follow a certain route. Did FD build in some kind of 'grand tour'...or is this arbitrary?

MB "It's a journey that everyone has to travel for themselves."

Yes, it was DB... don't remember seeing in the video the person who made the question. I'd guess he was just answering them...

I had thought that myself or even considered that perhaps it was named for our very own Beagle explorer but then I saw this.

“There are missions out there I know almost no players have seen,” he says. “But we haven’t communicated it properly. There’s so much in there, and what we see from play patterns is that many do the same thing over and over. In that cycle, they just don’t get to see some of the variation. I’m not blaming players. We got it wrong.”

“I’m happy with that [different playstyles], but I want people to know that there are other things you can do,” he adds. “There’s a lot in the game, but you just have to dig for it. I like that in games. I don’t want to feel like I’m on rails.”

DB in the linked interview. Written pre-Horions, pre-Engineers.

Yes, that’s what I was thinking when I heard him! 🙂

AFAIK this was indeed said and documented - but also AFAIK (correct me if I'm wrong) the Devs sometime thereafter specifically checked the Mission System and it was discovered that the supposed "Special Missions" never appeared for anyone. They didn't even spawn, thus they never existed by any practical means.

(remember the old Pre-Horizons Mission System never "drove you around the Galaxy", far from it. It wasn't until LongRange Passenger Missions and LongRange Courier Missions were introduced when Players were tasked to travel very considerable distances. After the payouts were nerfed & capped, that entire Mission Branch basically died with very few CMDRs accepting such poorly paid time sinks)

I don't think I'd ever find that Info again though, way too long ago. I believe the check was done in regard to missing Founder Missions and in conjunction with those Dark Wheel Data Crystal Missions at the time - none of which ever resulted in anything interesting either.

Either way, the statements were rather confusing than clearing anything up. Almost like they were talking about an entirely different Game or something.

Sounds about right for the devs. They don't really know what they're doing in game either and that's laughable. I was watching a video once where they were talking about something but they were practicing manually docking their Corvette, terribly. I recently got my first Corvette after all of the FED rank bonus we had. Rather easy to manually dock I thought, I had no problems and i only recently started doing this manually. It just goes to show that they probably don't play their own game very much. I think the ones that do have perma noob.
