im hoping for no vr support, and that its just about sniping bears with engineered OP guns

No VR, that's disappointing to say the least. Definitely feel like my LEP was a waste of £120 now.
I feared as much as much. My interest just dropped to zero. Gutted.
I guess I'll be putting my VKB's on eBay this weekend.
Well here is some negative for ya. No VR No money. Drop VR from horizons and it's game over till ya put it back in. It boils down to this No VR and your game is dead to me.
While it's good that I get this as part of my Lifetime Pass, It's no good to me as I only play in VR. What a let down!
I simply won't be walking anywhere...
They can shove their space legs
The worst part is I can't protest by not buying it because they already have my money.
As a premium beta back I have to say I am disappointed at this backward immersion breaking content.
No VR? Are you kidding me? Elite was the sole reason I got into VR, I refuse to play ED without it, this is beyond a disappointment. My vision was to play with my HOTAS then put on my motion controllers, click a button to uncouple my avatar, physically stand up and use my thumbstick to walk-run around. There is just no comparing the immersion. I really hope you guys have plans to implement this because it's a game changer. Just ruined my day...thanks
Stop it! I'm already too depressed..
Well, between this and fleet carriers, I'm done.
Being as I bough a VR compatible game how do I get a refund for my LEP? Having been a customer for this long I know what your statement on VR means (it isn't ever going to work with VR because you can't be bothered to make it work). Not fit for purpose / breach of contract want my money back?

Yet another VR-only player expressing extreme disappointment at this news. I never thought ED...ED...would go backwards on VR. Anybody know the numbers for VR primary/only players? It's hard for me to believe that the support and potential new players they will lose with this decision doesn't outweigh the cost of putting the resources into making it happen.

Especially given how standardized and proven first-person movements and object interaction has become. This was the special thing ED had going for it. Now ED becomes just that much less interesting as a game.

This is disappointing. I started ED to be a commander, not a pedestrian. If I wanted to walk around I'd be playing Halo or Call of Duty. If this goes the way I think it will, it will completely ruin the game for me. If I do stick around, I'll probably get my jollies mowing down fools on the ground with my ship. This is just stupid.
you didn't get it , it's a dlc . the actual game ED and EDH is normal without the dlc ! wake up dude and stop crying like a baby

Come on guys more salt! This thread is starting to get fun!

Also i'll add - elite which was a pioneering space sim game, is now regressing. Imagine how cool on foot vr would be with a proper designed interface etc, on proper realised worlds which we never got with horizions because the devs were too busy spending it designing and creating poorly implemented multicrew mechanics.

People might think im just being ar sey but its more like exasperation. Been waiting for a major update for over a year now to see a game i love move forward to instead see it be a giant you.

Note i dont really get the butthurt between the sc and ed community - but i do know which one ill be playing longterm if VR is removed which was a very heavy key feature of one of them and was the reason I bought a headset in the first place.

The game needs a NMS style revival with a quality expansion and this just reads 'lowest common denominator'

Lots of people have put a lot of time and money making sure their PCs can support ED in VR. A game some have played in VR for years. So I hope you can see why players would be upset when this is taken from them in an update we were all looking forward to. I understand some people cannot play for health reasons, or they cannot afford the hardware. Maybe you fall into one of those categories. Or maybe you're just the selfish, smug "I'm alright Jack" character you come across as.
Yes thanks i am one that can not play VR for heath reasons as i can not walk as i lost a leg in a real war not a game many years back so yes i am alright jack i still work and have a very happy life thankyou

I would never let a game get me upset as you have to really think what is important to you

Thanks

Is Elite Dangerous: Odyssey coming to VR?

Currently, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will not be VR-compatible at launch. We’re big fans of VR and we are truly proud of the amazing experience that we currently offer in Elite Dangerous. However, the new gameplay, mechanics and features that will be introduced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey means that we had to re-examine if we could deliver that same experience without compromise, which, for launch, means Odyssey will not be VR-compatible.

Just please allow us to access existing spaceship/SRV-bound gameplay with perhaps optional automated walking sequences for 'immersion', I am pretty sure most if not all VR players would be happy to still pay for Odyssey if a placeholder mechanics is added at or soon after launch. Just let us enjoy the upgraded worlds and vistas please.

Yup saw the no VR support coming a mile away. And yeah as beta backer I can't even vote with my wallet so yup. I don't even care about VR feet walking around stuff (because I had and have no faith FDev would put the time into developing it properly) but since it is likely that at best we'll be stuck on Horizons we'll basically be left out of content and likely left behind.
