So much to catch up on since page 33! Some questions and my (probably wrong) summary for all of you fine folks:
Summary (from what I'm reading ITT):
-If you buy Odyssey, you are buying a one-way ticket and will NOT be able to see or run H4.0 again.
-The H4.0 client that was downloaded is basically just Odyssey with software restrictions such that I don't have space legs, can't walk around inside FCs, lack (some?) graphics features/prettiness, and cannot enter atmospheric planets.
Questions:
1) If I buy Odyssey from a retailer other than Steam, Epic, or Frontier, will it work? Supporting info: I did some digging and it seems I have to do some rigamarole with the product key first with my Frontier account and then do the Partner keys menu option in said Frontier account to get Steam to acknowledge it? Basically, I cannot go straight to Steam with the key because Frontier (and my Frontier account) effectively don't know that I've purchased Odyssey until I do the Frontier account stuff.
2) If I'm trusting for a moment that H4.0 is the tech demo for Odyssey, and if H4.0 is running great on my rig, then can I fully trust that Odyssey will work if I buy it? Supporting info: H4.0 doesn't let me test FC interiors, space legs/space legs combat, or planetside settlements, so I have no way of knowing 100% if my rig will handle the crap that others are encountering. I'm running Win10 Pro, 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe, 5900X, 32GB RAM, 3080Ti FE, 55" 4K TV with VRR. There are definitely others with very similar specs running into FPS issues. If I buy Odyssey and somehow have these issues, it sounds like I'm stuck due to the aforementioned one-way trip and that would be unsat.
I hope what I wrote was clear enough. =X
