Do we have a ETA on the cure for the beige plague?

So does investigation mean a discussion these days.

Investigation: the action of investigating something or someone; formal or systematic examination or research.
"he is under investigation for receiving illicit funds"

synonyms: examination, enquiry, study, inspection, exploration, consideration, analysis, appraisal;

I don't think it mentions discussion anywhere in the meaning of investigation. So now you are trying to change the meaning of words to boost you unsubstantiated beliefs.

Actually, in the software industry, the 2 words are very close in meaning. Investigation often entails discussion, between developers as well as departments.

Yes, i certainly expect them to discuss things even when in development. But it doesn't say it isn't being developed or worked on.

Investigation could mean that they are working on it though.

I know what an investigation is, thanks. Not gonna argue semantics here...show me the money otherwise it's all pie in the sky.

Or don't show me the money and I'll move on when they try selling a new season with that same attitude, see what happens ^

Hi guys,

Sorry to hear that you're irked by this. It's something that has previously been discussed previously, but I'd like to just reiterate the points.

The development team are aware of the issue of course, as it's been mentioned many times in the past on the forums, reddit, and even livestream Q&As. The issue is a complex one that - from what I understand discussing with the development team - was initially intended to improve the game's performance. The dev/art team have been looking into solutions for it and will continue to investigate it further going forward. We cannot provide an ETA, but unfortunately it will not be in the short-term.

That's nice but, didn't they originally tell us it was an intentional change for the sake of being "more realistic" or something like that? I remember the graphical downgrade for performance line being downplayed heavily when this first came up.

There's been a livestream in the past (during the pre-Horizons build-up) regarding terrain generation on the planets' surfaces and the tech/science that goes into that. It's noted! Maybe it's something we can look to feature in the future, but that's a different discussion :)

well, that was my favourite one. Elite=PG for me.
I hope we will see more of those one day.

Looking into solution means working on fix. Fixing things in program is 95% to find solution, 5% of code. Every. time.

Aw hell no, I've had plenty of changes or bugs in my games that required a much greater percentage of coding than that! Sometimes a redesign can take a LOT of coding work, and even relatively little planning if it's a straightforward change. A 95%/5% split is not a hard fact by any means at all, coding is much more dynamic than that.

Now, as to what fixing Elite's beige issue entails, well I've no idea at all...

Which is only fair because they are not very clear in their communication, however it's not strange to get 4 different answers when you ask 4 different people.

Eh? So if I hold up a white flag and ask 4 different people what colour it is I'll get 4 different answers? How do you work that one out?

I'm not going to rep Dale on this occassion because it was like squeezing blood from a stone to get a response, with FD so grudgingly forced to elaborate in their own vague way. Poor Dale probably drew the short straw or Brett was twisting his arm and commanding, "Type it! Type it or no more tea breaks!" :)

Look at when the reply came. If I was a betting man, I'd have a tenner on it having been a standing joke in the office for the last week that one of them would reply if it hit 100 pages... :D
