Actually with that 210 degrees FOV, it could be a way better option for a pilot as you get a massive improvement in peripheral vision over the OR's 110 degrees.

Only issue I can see with it is that they use two screens rather than one which might have synchronization issues. From their blurb though it seems like they've already solved it or it hasn't been an issue. As long as this holds when they get released into the wild they could be onto a winner.

If these guys managed to perfect the tech and release before the OR then they could steal a lot of OR's thunder.

I cannot wait to either get my hands on a OR consumer version (or HD dev kit) and didn't mind the FOV on the current dev kit but I've no brand loyalty here and would snap up an Infiniteye if they release before the OR or around the same time and it's looking like the better of the two.

p.s. here's a good thread with more info about the infinateye - http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=138&t=16434

I agree, the one caveat being support for the device. OR already has a lot of momentum and support in current games, with a lot more saying they will support it. If better products come out I HOPE they get the same treatment but I'm dubious that everything will get the same levels of support.

Apparently the Fresnel lenses have some issues. I think one is chromatic aberration (the lenses are bumpy rather than totally smooth, causing some diffraction) and there's something about your focus going a bit squiffy if you look around with your eyes rather than moving your head. Would be awesome if they get it working properly though. The FOV on those things look amazing.

Is There Oculus Rift Suppert in Alpha?

Hi All,

Stuck at work until 7pm but was wondering if anyone can confirm if OR support is present in the Alpha yet? Really looking forward to playing either way but would love to try out with the OR.

Plenty of builds between now and beta! but no worries if it does not get added. I suspect the low res of the dev kit would make it quite hard work anyway

So they are going to show the new Oculus on CES 2014 next month...

I know of a game that has Oculus Rift support implemented that would be perfect to use as a demo. *hint hint wink wink*

@FD

Are you listening. I'm serious. The amount of (free) PR you could get there is through the roof! :cool:

Especially since you just released this little snippet:

Frontier has now raised in excess of £2.1m from over 40,900 backers of Elite: Dangerous and has just released, on schedule, the Alpha Phase One to over 1,400 backers who each paid £200 to participate in this phase of development. In addition, the Group has completed initial integration of the Elite: Dangerous game code with the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality display system.

Hopefully this is already the plan, but if it isn't. Get on it!!
