Unfortunately, yes. ED feels like this more and more with each release.
I sincerely hope we can write off the whole "Horizons" as a "pew-pew update sprinkled with planetary landings" and be finally done with that, shifting development focus to other areas of the game. Grinding weapons to shoot more things is boring, is all. Still like many times said, willing to yet again give FDev benefit of the doubt so waiting till frontier expo for some hope or a final push to uninstall. Watching from outside I think I understand why Horizons turned the way it was (tough business decisions are tough), and hope that now they will allocate the fruits of those decisions into fleshing Elite a lot more than it is today. As in, start delivering and get us excited over this game once again. I still hope there will be peaceful interactions with the aliens (Oresians?), but am not yet seeing the tools for it, and comments like "how you will fare against these potentially deadly blahblah" don't give much hope for that.
Stop playing it, and move on. It's not difficult.
It is difficult, akin to ending a long time relationship, at least for me. You still hope the other person will change, and it doesn't happen. Life. I know there is a large group of people who enjoy the repetitive nature of E: D, more power to them. I still hoped to actually explore the galaxy, not to watch loading screens ad nauseam and repeat honk-scoop-jump with a occasional landing on a bland and featureless template of a barren planet with the only real difference being in sky backdrop and an occassional ringed giant over the horizon. The reason I am still here is I'm keeping tabs on what is happening regarding 2.4 and possible 3.0, but I do not log in to Elite anymore. On a break so to say.
Well can't say this is unexpected, but a man can still dream... I hope there are at least some surprises for us non-pew-pew folk in the final patch notes.
