The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Things that are already included in large numbers in the GMP shouldn't be submitted anymore IMO. I don't think anyone really cares about jumponium rich systems (unless they're in a region where there are none at all), or stars with close neutrons or black holes, or systems with multiple stars, or anything else so mundane.

I would suggest that the focus should be on unusual orbital configurations, particularly unusual ground features, high/low extremes, things that are actually unique or incredibly rare etc. The focus should be on what ANYONE would find interesting and go thousands of ly to see, not just something you think is interesting or haven't seen before. There's so much in the GMP now that all the 'easy stuff' has been covered quite sufficiently, I think now the hunt should focus on things that are truly rare and unique so the standards should be higher.

DescriptionMoon of a gas giant which orbits only a couple of thousand kilometres out from the edge of the rings, giving some beautiful views of the ring system.

The system is a long way below the galactic plane, and in some orbital configurations, the rings and the galaxy will provide an amazing show in the sky.

Game map search ref:Phroea Bli AA-A h232
Description:Kodokushi is an old Earth Japanese word for "lonely death". The average temperature for a Wolf-Rayet C star is around 200,000 Kelvin, this one however is far colder. First discovered by CMDR Grayscale Goat, this Wolf-Rayet measures only 209.00 Kelvin (-83.47˚F or -64.51˚C). Having lost most of its energy and luminescence the star appears very dim like brown dwarfs but on a larger scale. As it nears the end of its life cycle the only thing in the system to bear witness to its passing will be a small asteroid belt .

NameWedding Rings
Game map search ref:Byeia Thaa QM-V d2-27
Description:These two giants that co-orbit each other are the parents to several ringed bodies. The brown dwarf hosts 4 HMC's (2 which are terraformable) and 2 gas giants of different types. The gas giant hosts 2 terraformable water worlds and a ringed Earth-like. There are also some notable stellar phenomena in some of the rings and at about 3kLY's from Sol, this system could soon become inhabited.

Description:A planet in orbit around a ringed class Y dwarf star, which in turn orbits a blackhole, provides an excellent resting place. The volcanic activity provides (rather hot) camp fires for tired explorers wishing to stay the night and enjoy the view of the nearby nebula

Description: Solomon's Key is a rocky ice world located just 275 ly from Jacques Station in Colonia. The planet is covered with astonishingly exaggerated surface features including 12 km deep canyons and 30+ km high mountain ranges scattered across the planet. It's close orbit to its parent gas giant along with the close proximity of the Colonia Nebula make for some incredible sky vistas.

Name:If I right understood — it already has name on ingame map: "Dryiqao WJ-Z e2 Nebula". But if it's procedural generated and we need name I suggest: Zefiruchny Nebula

Description:A giant Class K star orbiting closely a black hole (about 200ls appart). When arriving at the system we expect to find a black hole and instead find ourselves surprised to find this giant in our whole field of view. While heading towards the black hole while facing the giant, the background stars lights are bent creating the impression of a Dolly Zoom.
There's also a neutron star but it's 300kls from the main ones.

Is the GMP database still available for download in its JSON format? Some time ago, it was up on the EDSM site, but I can't seem to find it now. Did I misplace the link, or is it no longer available?

Description:Main star is a Wolf Rayet N star with 80 solar masses. The second star is a class B giant with 62 solar masses, the C star is a class B supergiant with 32 solar masses - both giants are in distance between 8 and 11k ls from arrival point but you can see them without problems. Viewing the system map those three look like a snowman.

Description:Found this gem system on my way back from Colonia worth reporting. System has 6(!) waterworlds where the three closest ones are
terraformable and located within 1833LS from the entry point. The next two are 74 000LS out and the sixth one is 290 390LS away.
As a bonus, the system also has 3 terraformable HMCW's. Located in the Temple region just about 11 000LY's from Sol.
