My placement for the Bonobo:
I put it in "Can be left out entirely" I get the point of having it as an alterative to the chimp but it just doesn't feel like it needs to be in the roster when there will probably be a lot of birds and aquatics also taking up slots in the roster.

Animal #9 - Gemsbok
View attachment 406162
Which category does it fit into?
  • Essential for Planet Zoo 2 Base Game
  • Save for PZ2 DLCs/Deluxe
  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure
  • Can be left out entirely
Imo its essential to have some african antelopes but idk if i could name any paricular species essential, more like general types.
Like there should be an oryx of some kind, but if thats gemsbok, addax, scimitar horned or arabian im unsure about.
Gemsbok definetly is one of the more iconic species tho, but maybe its the best to keep addax and scimitar horned around for africa in the PZ2 roster and do arabian oryx instead of gemsbok so the middle east can have something thats its own

And yes i agree it is essential to keep african antelopes in base game but i would do the following:

Keep in base game: thomson's gazelle, nyala, blue wildebeest, scimitar horned oryx, dik dik, addax, nile lechwe, dama gazelle (the last two are not essential but would not want them AGAIN in a DLC) and add the impala.

Add in DLC: gemsbok, bongo, sable antelope (with improved versions that they all need) and as possible new additions in new DLCs greater kudu, gerenuk, eland, waterbuck, topi, hartebeest.

I don't need them back: springbok, black wildebeest (i'm ok with them but won't miss them)

That sounds good to me, except I would be sad if I had to wait longer for my beloved bongo. And for me personally I would love to see the Greater Kudu in the base game rather than impala. But that's just a preference, they're both well known and quite iconic species.

I would be happy with would be Dama gazelle, Scimitar horned oryx, Kirk's dik dik, Bongo, Nile lechwe, Blue wildebeest and Gemsok. I would also like to see the Greater Kudu added and would be ok with the Nyala as well as a few others. The Springbok, Black wildebeest and Thompson's Gazelle are all totally expendable to me and I really don't need to see them back.

We have so many African antelope that picking which are essential is quite hard so I guess I'll say save for DLC? Of course an oryx of some kind is important especially for deserts and this is a common zoo animal with Zoo Tycoon legacy behind it. Whether we need it over another antelope though, I'm not sure.
