There's no such thing as an "African elephant". The African bush/savannah elephant is its own species. The African forest elephant is its own species. They belong to the same genus but they are not subspecies of each other.African Elephant

You can also do a 100 old ones, but the point is you can't do more than 10 new ones. The rest of the animals may or may not come in DLCs later.
Right, forgot about this in making a quick list. Keeping the current species is the logical choice. There's no such thing as an "African elephant". 100% many won't be in the base game, but I hope in the long run they all make it back. For the supposed sequel's roster:
I really hope we don't lose any animals from PZ1...
Unless, its slight changes such as Bengal Tiger to Sumatran Tiger.
I also hope for bigger DLCs with more "clones." Like what they did with the butterflies.
Planet Zoo 2 should definitely have all the current animals in its roster (195) or at least the habitat animals, look what happened with JWE2, it had almost all the dinos from the first base game + DLCs except 4, one in the deluxe version and the other 3 in a DLC, and I'm very active in the JWE2 community and it was something super criticized and even months and years later, the community is very upset, the ankylodocus for example although it had a huge redesign, people hated that they sold it again. For the supposed sequel's roster:

Nooo, not my baby.Other species that would be a bit of a shame to lose, but worth it if it means we get a higher demand species:
Striped Hyena - I personally think one hyena would suffice.
- Saiga - Not found in captivity.
- Black Rhinoceros - Currently preferable over the white (better quality), but in the end quite similar.
Dama Gazelle - I actually love this species, but out of the African desert antelopes it'll be the first one to go.
Is this of what i talked about, Why frontier will delete some gold quality animals like these??Nile Lechwe - Same reason as nynyalaI
Striped Hyena is one of my favorites too. I remember being so happy when the Grasslands pack was announced! I saw the Maned Wolf silhouette on the art and then read the rest of the species and saw that one of my (at the time) top four habitat animals made it in as well was so exciting. Honestly Grasslands pack was the most excitement I felt during this game. It was way more fun than 2023 and 2024 combined. Yet, some people think we should get rid of the Striped Hyena because "we don't need a SECOND hyena." Yet a FOURTH lemur is perfectly fine... That is also one of my fears with PZ2 is that it will cut favorites.Honestly, I just cannot get excited for the PZ2 for this reason. I do not want to loose any of my favourite animals because someone at Frontier will think: they will not miss this one.
I'm on the fence regarding this statement in particular. We all have favourites, sure, but there are some species I probably won't even notice being gone if they don't come back.but I hope in the long run they all make it back.
Why do you hate me that much?I'm on the fence regarding this statement in particular. We all have favourites, sure, but there are some species I probably won't even notice being gone if they don't come back.
My biggest concern is that they just do a blanket wash of fur and skin textures but otherwise simply port the current roster over. I'd sacrifice the entire North American roster for a better orangutan.
They are most definately not starting to work on it, bt are already working on it for 1-2 years I assume. So it's too much to expect they totally lean onto a metawishlist. However, in general, I think it's a very good idea, because some things could be changed and tweaked still. Especially if we have one eye on Planet Coaster.Has this been discussed yet - should we set up a metawishlist for PZ2 features we'd like to see?
It seems timing is key with these wishlists because it looks like Frontier used the very first metawishlist to influence the animals they picked, but possibly not later versions. If they're starting work on the game now it might be a good time to combine and order all our hopes and dreams for new features, with the hope that it might have an impact on how they design the game and what they prioritise early on?
What do you all think?
Awesome thanks @Captain Callum ! Happy to help with the admin / collecting data if you'd likeI'm up for creating a wishlist for features for pz2, I didn't mind managing the 1000 odd suggestions I had with the free update thread.
