Am I the only CMDR in the game who's never bothered to mount SCBs in his ship? --Momentai ;]
I only started using them about 3 weeks ago when I got tired of getting run out of a CZ I was working for a community goal when my A6 shields with 3 A0 boosters got taken down in under a minute of heavy combat. Not easy to make any $$ when you have less than 5 minutes in a battle zone, and then have to wait 5 minutes for your crappy top of the line shields to recharge.
Once I added the SCBs, I went from the above to making over 1 million in Combat bonds per sorte, and was only forced to leave the CZ when I ran out of ammo. Up until I started working these High Activity CZs, my A6 shields seemed to work fine. But around this same time, FD also upped the NPC ship's armor, weapons and accuracy, making it MUCH harder to keep your shields from getting taken down if you had more than one ship on you at once, which has been the norm for me in any CZs I have been in lately.
I figured that the SCBs were included in the game for just this kind of situation. Now I read that they are going to be nerfing them, and I will be back to what I had before I started using these for defense in High Intensity CZs, Strong SS, and any other combat situation with a ton of big ships that never miss?
That is insane! It destroys an entire area of combat which is why I am so angry about this news! With no mention of balancing the actual shields which is why everyone uses these to begin with, we are going to be left with useless combat ships for any high risk combat situation. Pilot skill has nothing to do with this either. No one can avoid being hit hard during a battle with these new NPC ships, especially when there are 4-5 of them on you at once.
Anyone that claims they can is lying through their teeth. Its not like we have cover in this game. Its purely a battle of shields and armor and whomever losses theirs first is the loser. End of story.
