Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

Well, some clarification at least, but very vague...

So many questions...
Like a user said on that bug report, we dont need to know the algorithm, but at least know some rules of the game!

Ltt 911 and hip 24046 attacked. Probably need to update the first post to make it clear that if a system does not have a starport with L landing page it should not be prioritised. Eagle eye should update later today.

And the burning stations lasting more than a week seems to be solved.
Also the saving of passengers from Cyllene Orbital seems to have paid off. Only 558kt of commodities to repair the station.

Targets this week :

Incursions (AX CZ)
zgdDLx8.png

(just check galnet 2nd post ;) )

Infestations (NHSS)

badbadzist, eskite, songbe, lp 734-32 & padhyas

None are marked as Infested in the galmap, no nhss reported yet

Eagle Eye:

ee1 badbadzist
ee2 eskite
ee3 songbe
ee4 apishna
ee5 lp 734-32
ee6 padhyas

Warning: Try and not be in the Infested / Incursion systems on Thargsday for the server restart - CMDRs have reported CtD issues otherwise.

Notes:
  • Incursions are listed in the 2nd Galnet article and dynamically update through the week (they start at 'massive thargoid presence' and are beaten when we reach 'no thargoid presence'.
  • Thargoids first Infest a system (this has now been hidden), if the Infection is not fought then they begin an Incursion, and we lose stations until the incursion is repelled.
  • Incursed systems can be seen in the Galmap left panel. Sometimes the system also switches allegiance to the Thargoids (not always). It's worth checking a system is still Incursed before travel (in the 2nd Galnet post), as they change through the week. Sometimes the Galmap does not show the correct states, but systems targeted by Eagle Eye should still be targets. Unless that is broken ...
  • There is a galmap filter to help find Incursion systems
  • Incursion systems : fight in the AX CZ until they are no longer listed in Galnet :)
  • Thargoids can only attack space stations with 'L' landing pads, if a system has none of these then ot is a lower priority.
  • Infested Systems : are saved by kills in the target systems- each kill counts the same, so a Scout is as useful as an Interceptor. Bonds do not matter. They only update state once a day, just after the BGS tick.
  • You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 166 Ly of Merope, but it won't help save any systems.
  • And you can get (bugged) missions from the Aegis megaships to kill Thargoids, but they also don't count to save systems unless the destination system for the mission is also a target this week.
  • Infested Targets are found by decoding the aegis Eagle Eye system https://canonn.science/codex/eagle-eye-installations/
  • Decoding Eagle Eye is now simpler - use this decoder and type in the phonetic letters called out by the eagle eye unregistered comms beacons - this gives the target system

Maybe it is due to my bad memory: wasn't there 4000 kills needed to clear a system? Was this for Incursion or Infestation or both? Proposal: what about if EDSM counts all the kills and shows the result here once 4000 kills are reached?

Is this confirmed?
4000 scouts makes the thing?
What about 'flowers'? Kill is a kill or is the system count more because it's bigger and from strategical point of view much more valid?

Can you post your FAS build please.
Just starting to engineer mine.[up]

Gladly. I have a lot of succes with this build. Generally I am able to kill 30 Scouts before the Gauss cannons run out of ammo. You can synthesize ammo for them, but the materials are too time consuming/irritating to get IMO cause you’ll have to get some of them at Guardian ruins, so I return to a station and rearm when needed. It’s a fun build, but the most effective build could be all turret Multi-AX’s, but I would fall asleep. But sometimes I use two medium fixed Multi-AX’s instead of the Gauss’s for variation.

FAS Scouts Bane: https://s.orbis.zone/28_s

EDIT: Real speed is actually 328/546.

Remember that Thargoid weaponry ignore all resistances (exept caustic of course).

If something seems odd it’s probably because of an error cause it’s a dump from EDSM. I corrected the errors I saw, so perhaps I got them all. The overall values like shield and integrity and more are okay - meaning Coriolis.io-numbers and not exact, but very close.

I just overheat the ship when I get hit by caustic stuff. It works fine for me. It damages the ship a bit, but I have never had to return to a station just for repairs. I repair when I rearm.

Ok, to answer my question by myself I found this and this. ;)

The proportion of Thargoid fighters logging their kills with a centralised record is insufficiently high to determine how many kills it takes per system. You can make some very rough estimates but they won't be great.

For example, if 25% of Thargoid kills are logged, then if you log 4000 and narrowly win it actually took 16000 to save the system. If for the next system you strongly advertise logging of kills and get 50% recorded, which is 7000 recorded, you actually only got 14000 total and lose the system -- despite apparently getting almost twice as many kills. There are statistical methods you can use to try to compensate for this by carefully recording data over several weeks - I think there's an outline in one of my posts in this thread several months back - but no-one is doing that so far as I know.

(Very basic estimates would suggest that only about 1/10th of player activity is captured by EDSM and similar shared tools, maybe rising to 1/5th of activity for experienced players.)

Added CD-54 471 to the list of infested systems - someone has a prediction algorithm and this was one of the predictions :)

Also updated the first post to show that all the infested systems have now had NHSS confirmed.

You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 175 LYs of Merope, but it won't help save any systems. - corrected.

Thanks for the updates Facta [up]
