Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

I didn't mention 12 bases.

That number is based upon the INRA messages where they talk about 12 experiments. There's a sticky thread about the INRA bases ^^^

Sorry and thank you, I hadn't enough coffee this morning. Will look for the sticky thread to find the answer ;)

Targets this week are LP 581-36 Atkov Ring and HIP 21559 Morukov Terminal. Yes, both systems have been targeted before.

LP has only scouts, HIP also has interceptors

Time to test my new FdL (4x Gauss Cannons and c4 Thermal Vent beam).

Lock n’ load, folks.

I just visited the distress call at Merope 3. Frightening! If there are no reports from there so far: it is (was) a huge military convoy which shows signs of a Thargoid attack. There is a private signal to scan at the big battle cruiser and a Thargoid jump signal. All around are containers with "attack plans", nerve agent, "truth pills", emergency capsules (1 manned, rest unmanned) etc.

From the overall view it seems to be clear what the intention behind this convoy was. And imho if I look at the damage of this powerful convoy - we were only toys for them with our combat efforts so far.

I hear that if you decode the morse message from the main ship you get:

"MISSION FAILED. DATA ARCHIVES TRANSMITTED. SERVER PURGE SUCCESS. CREW STATUS UNKNOWN. TOXIC GAS DETECTED IN LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM. SHIP STATUS LOST. "

Tinfoil away ;)

Doesn't that match with what was detected from the Imperial fleet destroyed a couple of weeks ago? Looks like the Thargoids have their own Mycoid virus that they are infecting ships with to kill their crew. That would explain why, whenever I show up at a combat aftermath USS, I just see blackened debris, but the ships attacked by Thargoids seem almost completely intact.

I have corrected my posting above because when I approached the battle cruiser it was just in line of the Thargoid jump signal. I've got the wrong scan. Shame on me.

As I (and others) wrote in another thread: we humans are not primarily their main target at the moment. They are looking for something. Evidence: the selectedly destroyed containers aboard the not completely destroyed megaships, the attacked but not destroyed spaceports, the INRA bases. They are alien and know about their strength. We are blowflies for them - we are annoying for them, nothing more at the moment.

Sounds like a good barbeque. Happy hunting [up]
Got a little too toasty, unfortunately. She kills the Scouts quickly enough, but a single volley from all four cannons shoots the heat up to over 130%. Not sure why, since three cannons on my AX Conda only raises the heat to ~56%.

Might try only firing two at a time, and switch to the other two when the ammo runs out.

Sux we cant get a G5 sturdy mount mod on them:(

I found it too much hassle to shoot scouts with Gauss cannons. They are annoyingly bad to aim at in front of black background. Or I'm just a micro-gimbal-aim-scrub :D

Stick with it, very good practice and so rewarding - it wrecks them very, very quickly

That would jive with the log on the Hercules class cargo ship in HIP. They said it was scanning each compartment like it is looking for something specific. OR looking to be sure something specific ISN'T on board?

For the love of pete. Log out, log in, log out, log in. Finally found a cyclops. Then I get wanted for fighting it....

I am having just the devil of a time with these things today. Lost shield and half my hull almost instantly to a cyclops of all things. Granted I'm not any good, but I haven't been this bad in forever. Just one of those days I guess.

+1 The best setup for Scouts is an all-turret AX multicannon ship, FGS, Python or whatever you prefer. Fixed is not compliant, and Gauss (hehe, I used to take walks along his grave when at the uni, it was just 500m away) is better spared for the big ones :D
