Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

+1 The best setup for Scouts is an all-turret AX multicannon ship, FGS, Python or whatever you prefer.

I built a "scout" attack Chieftain (Dirty Drag Drives G5) and tried it three ways. 2 Large gimbaled pulse lasers....and regular (non_AX) multi-cannons in the other 4 slots. Went out and killed a couple of hundred. Then I switched it to an all turrented AX Multi-cannon build and killed another 100. Then tried an all fixed AX-multi-cannon build for another 100. I found the Pulse Canon/non-AX multi-cannon build was significantly better at killing scouts. May just be my flying style lends itself to that build.

Which zystems did you try? LP 581-36 and HIP 21559 are the current ones. LP 581-36 should be only scouts.

Both of them, then once I found no scouts for an hour I went to last week's systems and still had no luck. I feel like Im doing something wrong.... no NHSS anywhere....

Edit: I FINALLY found 1... as I was leaving in my Dolphin.... after looking for hours. God I hate the USS mechanic so much sometimes

Weird - I always get NHSS within seconds of entering supercruise. Just had a report from someone else they got NHSS in LP immediately on SC - NHSS tend to have good RNG in those systems, so I have no clue, srry.

Edit: Sticking near planets or heading between planets is the way I usually check for NHSS in those systems.

Its weird, I just spent the day hunting them, got plenty of NHSS this time.

Im thinking I was just really, really unlucky at the time. Anyways I really appreciate the help during these less than optimal times.

78 Scouts downed for me tonight so far in HIP-whatever. Finally got my Gauss-de-Lance sorted out.

Trying to decide whether or not to push for 100, or go to bed. Both options are tempting.

I keep coming up against Interceptors and a ton of scouts

It is a crap shoot. I had some luck with going to the broken mega ships and logging in/out until the right one appears. Don't hit the mega ship in your fight. Actually don't fight near it at all, weird things happen near it.

Most of the NHSSs I was in last night were Scouts only. Only one contained a Cyclops, and it jumped in to an instance full of Scouts (not unlike a capital ship).

I think we should evacuate the station. With no orbital repair and restock its probably not going to get great support. It will be harder to defend than the week it was last attacked.

The traffic report is not particularly high and I suspect that some of the big ships will be filled with Refugees instead of HR.

How many people in a starport? A Million? It would take a big effort to clear it out.

It makes you wonder why Aegis didn't deploy one of the megaships there to give the ability to restock and repair at least and to provide a staging post for defending the system. Saying that, if the system falls, it will be interesting to see what becomes of the station given it has already been attacked once. Will they all out destroy it this time around, or just burn it again?

Oh not to worry I'm still killing them.

Worked out tonight that it takes 16 marauders to get 1% more deadly so must have killed over 200 at Argestes this week, what fun :)

Only 784 to go and I'll be elite [haha]

I know it's bad form to quote myself but tonight I reached elite, it's actually 16.3 scouts to gain 1% more when you're deadly so I've killed just over 800 in the last month, what with holidays it was only 3 1/2 weeks of one hour per night so I'm happy with that :)
