Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

I think he means that Fdev do a pretty good job when you consider the complexity and fidelity of the game vs the team size and budget. Compare that to what other dev teams pull off with simpler systems, more cash and licensed technology, Fdev are a marvel.

Or am I misinterpreting?

You are misinterpreting.
Budget and team size are no excuse for releasing a product with so many bugs and issues.

Would you buy a car today, paying for abuilt in AC in the price, knowing the dealer will not be able to deliver it in working condition due to budget and workforce limitations? What if he asks you to be patient and wait for 4 weeks time frame to get fixed?

When one releases a product, there is something very strong associated to it, and it's called reputation. Not only for the company, but for the team involded in the product development and release.
This applies to everyone, doesn't matter how big or small one's business is.

We are FD developments customers, and if we want to help them, we got to be honest and tell them about the problems in a professional way. Not pretend things are ok, because they are not. Keep in mind new players will not be as forgiving as we are.

Talking as a car mechanic of 23 yrs, with some of that working at car dealerships. Do you think that cars are released without problems? And that none of those problems are discovered after the vehicle's gone 'live'? (where multi 1000s of people use them in widely varying scenarios). Answers incase you hadn't guessed ;), are no & no. And I can tell you with certainty that sometimes, maybe only occasionally, that some problems on cars can take weeks or longer to rectify!

In both industries theirs a limit to inhouse testing & development, along with deadlines, of course sometimes in both industries they cut that way too short & cause excessive problems!
Is that the case with ED 3.3? I don't know, how does the amount of bugs compare to other big ED releases? Or other games? What is your source of info to say that this release is so much worse than others (which you implied).

Anyway, I agree with your last sentence, which is why I did some beta testing & post bug threads.

[edit] Anyway, we're going off topic here

I'm tanking from experience with the game previous patches. Bugs always happened, but this was the one with wors't releases (if not the worst) in terms of bugs since the beginning.
And a release in mid December, close to year's end, doesn't help to address players concerns.

About the car example, offcourse I know issues happens, in the end of the day I'm a mechanical engineer :)

But you are right, back to topic.
I'm checking Maia and Merope to see what is going on with the Thargoids. Neither these systems shows right now as Incursion, Maia is at War and Merope's state is None.
Maybe there should be an intermediate state before Incursion just to give us a tip that the system in under threat. Ive been looking for systems under Incursion since the lauch, and if it wasn't for this forum thread I would never had guessed what is going on.

There is, it's called "Infestation". There's just no galmap filter for that state, yet.

Another bug...

At least I can fight Interceptors liestening to ME 2 sidetrack do make my day!

8 track on me Old Ford Sheep Dog, with Dolly blasting out, whilst shooting those who want my Cargo od Devil Eggs.

So whats the update on where to find Thargoids, or can they be found anywhere now?

Lol, makes you wonder how they missed that one? .....actually, was this state even in the beta?

Yea mid December is a far from ideal release time!
What does your Mech eng job involve? (At school I wanted to be an electrical engineer, but went into Agricultural engineering instead! Did it for a few years after college & got fed up with it, & then went to cars :p. Wished I'd stuck with my 1st idea....).

Happy bug Hunting!

I’ve started with electronic engineering, but a very good friend convinced me to shift to mech, which was indeed a good deal.
In the last 20 years I’ve been working with oilwell drilling, but today my "engineering work" involves managing people lol!
Such is life.

I’m looking forward to try the AX combat zones, but none so far. I’ve missed the chance during beta :(

I'm planning on taking my first forays into Thargoid hunting, probably using my Krait MkII on scouts at first.

I have this already built up for combat/PVP: https://s.orbis.zone/1f7i

I don't have any Guardian weapons unlocked and I'm not totally averse to doing so, but if I can get away with using regular human weapons I'd prefer that for the time being.
I was thinking of putting two superpen rails in the mediums.
Any loadout or strategic suggestions welcome!

It should be good for scouts, my main worry is that hitting them with the PAs will be difficult as they tend to move unpredictably. Also put in a class 1 decontamination limpet controller and a class 3 cargo rack. You don't need the point defence, that's useless against caustic missiles. A xeno scanner is useful, as are heat syncs. Finally, scouts don't have modules AFAIK so super pen rail guns don't have an advantage. That said, I really like rails against them as it allows you to make the most of limited fireing openings.

Oh also, if you're looking to optimise, the Thargoid do absolute damage, so engineer for maximum HP

Hope this helps!

So is the Incursion state broken? I thought 63 G. Capricorni was lost.

63 G. Capricorni was attacked before 3.3, so it isn't (yet) a candidate for an Incursion. As mentioned in the first post, Jormbu, Kupol Vuh, Werapana, Wuli, Merope, and Maia are currently "Infested" and some of them will likely flip to Incursion after the upcoming server downtime.

AX CZ in Electra / Kupol, not confirmed elsewhere.

Edit: EE not updated yet, and systems still show is infested, not incursion. May well be that these change on the BGS tick, and only the attacks happen on the weekly Thargsday restart.

In addition to the usual rescue megaship, there's a new dockable megaship in Electra called Liberator UQ37, controlled by the also-new Aegis Defense faction.

Good point - they have been reported in other systems too. I guess we'll see other megaships go to their damaged state with associated scenarios (none reported yet).

Also if anyone can report if the AX CZ are active... They are :)

Edit: Also be aware that people have reported hard unrecoverable CtD on docking at the Aegis ships (but rescue ships seem ok)
