Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

In a brief flyby, I saw no wrecked megaships in any of the systems.

Futhermore:
* Ross 129 Yang Hub - scouts only
* HR 3499 - Goddard Hub - both
* LHS 6187 - Hooke Gateway - threat level 8 only

Anyone have any other data on that?

I am in Ross 129. I can confirm, only scouts, no megaship.
edit 19:30:00 now there is confirmed Basilisk or Medusa some truffle lured infront of the station Yang Hub

With today's announcement, this whole thing might just get a bit more interesting.

Also might shed some light on why we don't have an exact handle on how many kills are necessary to save a system. If it is going to be variable in the future, it probably is variable now.

New Thargoid “Incursion” State:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/459082-New-Thargoid-Incursion-State

  • kill Thargoid Scouts and Interceptors.
  • The amount of kills needed to remove the Incursion state varies from system to system.
Based on what?
”Happiness”?
Security?
Population?
Presence of Tech Broker?
Economy Type?
Traffic?
UA/TPs sold in system? (Therefore black market therefore government type)
Hand of God? (whoever is plotting out the story)
Thargoid Success / Failure in previous system?

Good news, that at least one system could be saved. I would have hated it to see the lovely trees in Thraskias tourism station burning. Thanks for everyone involved at fighting back!

An Alliance Joint Navy Operation (about 15 cmdrs) were active there and killed more than 2300 scouts (we kept track of the kills), I wonder how you get the numbers for your nice pie-chart? Are these kills included?

Bad news, that another Alliance system is investigated this week, Ross 129 :(

Uh - Sorry to be a noob, but I just did my first 2 Scout kills in Ross 129
It was fun, how do I hook up with the crew that are doing this? Preferably Alliance, but hey Canonn could be fun too.

Got a discord and a spreadsheet somewhere?

Alliance Joint Navy Discord and they have a spreadsheet.

nice!

I am rather new to the Thargoid fight too. But maybe I can give some relevant information:

There is the AXI group, founded by Gluttony. They have a discord. The link is in the fist post on this Forum thread:
Anti Xeno Combat Initiative and Ship Outfitting Suggestion

There is also The Hive. They are represented on INARA here:
https://inara.cz/squadron/2831/

And of course there is Canonn, within Canonn it's the Lab 69 that focuses on the Thargoid threat. Link is here:
https://canonn.science/lab-69-xia/

Also there is LCU's plugin for EDMC the "USS Survey plugin". You'll find a link to the plugin on the first post on this sticky Forum thread
Thargoid Data Gathering Effort

This plugin automatically logs Thargoid Kills and the results are shown on the LAB 69 page. If you click "Metrics&Data" on theire page and then "Current Targets" you'll see the pie-chart of registered kills in the current attacked systems.

That's all I know so far.
Good hunting!

Really looking forward for the new Thargoid incursion BGS state. It's one of the things we've been asking for sometime. I think they also talked about some sort of combat zones involving NPCs and Thargoids. I also got the impression it will be easier to repair the damaged stations.

The 3.3 update cant come soon enough!

If you can run the beta it's also worth trying out the new Wrecked Megaship scenarios - they have a lot of potential. While the scenario plays out you can get scouts / interceptors turning up to complicate matters ;) Delphi has plenty of wrecks, just drop in on them and a scenario may start.

Worth taking along repair and hatchbreaker limpets for the scenarios, which complicates loadout.

I imagine these scenarios will become even more useful when combined with the BGS changes:
* BGS gets Thargoid Incursion,
* Megaships becomes Wrecks,
* Scenarios provide extra system security - lovely :)

Ok, I finally went and tried out an interceptor in beta to answer the question I had asked a few weeks ago.

The answer is no, there seems to be no major change on the order of the rumor that I had heard. I did find that the glare from my cockpit makes it a bit harder to read stuff on my hud.

The gauss reticle is wonky, too.

Now I will try the rodent's suggestion. Maybe I'll see factabulous floating around out there.

Finally got round to slightly kitting out a conda for anti xeno duties by fitting 4 x class 2 engineered MCs, one type 3 AX MC, class 3 AX seeking missiles (need work on their tracking / aiming module because they only hit scouts about 10% of the time) and 2 x class 1 guardian plasma chargers. Smaller ships are more fun to fly but this is getting the job done pretty quickly.

Not used the AX weapons before but they do really speed up killing scouts. Even managed to hit one with the guardian plasma chargers.

There are stacks of type 4 NHUSS, the odd type 3 and one type 7 (so far) in Ross 129 so operating out of Yang Hub for the moment.

Saw a giant red Thargoid in Dulerce which appeared to be peeing on a tanker ship about 500ls out from the main star. I think I made it cross by shooting at it with the plasma chargers because it attacked me with the swarm, just made it out of there with no canopy and 15% hull left.

Are you sure these exist? (I know, I am just having really bad luck or don't know how to make these happen.)

I took my new rescue ship out there just now.[up]

And it's great for the scouts.

There are so many scouts and also seeing up to threat 8 NHUSS sometimes now.

Just kitted out a Krait with 2 x class 3 AX MC, 1 x class 3 OC AL MC, 2 x class 2 guardian gauss cannon. Having a blast! The ship is too fast and manoeuvrable for the scouts to hit very often and the guardian gauss are making a right mess of them. Some are going down in as little as 5 seconds. Just need to swap the 6a thermal shield for a 6a bi-weave heavy duty fast charge and that'll be my dedicated anti xeno ship almost done.

My Scout Killing Ship is a Kriat MKII

2 Class 2 gimbled Beam Lazers,
1 Class 3 gimbled Beam Lazers,
2 Class 3 AX Turrets (In case anyone wants to Multi-crew)
1 AX fighter
1 Guardian Fighter
(again for the multi-crew option)
Decom Limpets
Repair Limpets

Can normally handle class 4's without a problem. Anything more than that, I need help.

Hmmm, my FDL can handle threat 6's and I don't feel it's particularly efficient.

Managed to do a threat 5 in my Krait today. I was getting battered as soon as I entered the area on previous attempts and having to leave so tried boosting away a couple of times to get some space between me and the scouts and then coming back round to engage them which seemed to work.
