Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

(Posted as Eagle Eye is not updated yet)

Targets this week : Incursions in Jormbu, Kupol Vuh, Werapana, Wuli, Electra

All have AX CZ and the state can be tracked in the second Galnet post:

No infested systems listed by Eagle Eye this week.

Notes:
* Infested and Infested systems can be seen in the Galmap left panel. Sometimes the system also switches allegiance to the Thargoids (not always).
* There is a galmap filter to help find Incursion systems (there is no filter for Infested)
* Incursion systems : fight in the AX CZ until they are no longer listed in Galnet :)
* Infested Systems are saved by kills in the target systems- each kill counts the same, so a Scout is as useful as an Interceptor. Bonds do not matter.
* NHSS will be found in systems within 20 Ly of target, the systems are not being targeted for attack - you can kill Thargoids from them, but it won't help save any systems.
* You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 166 Ly of Merope, but it won't help save any systems.
* And you can get (bugged) missions from the Aegis megaships to kill Thargoids, but they also don't count to save systems unless the destination system for the mission is also a target this week.
* Infected Targets are found via a weekly search for nhss in possible target systems near the aegis ships and by decoding the aegis Eagle Eye system https://canonn.science/codex/eagle-eye-installations/
* Incursion targets are found by looking in the 2nd Galnet post, and also by looking at systems that were previously infected.
* Decoding Eagle Eye is now simpler - use this decoder and type in the phonetic letters called out by the eagle eye unregistered comms beacons - this gives the target system, though it's usually a bit mangled, e.g. Maiaiaiaiaiaia = Maia :)

We all die in the bubble [woah]:D Anyway still I dont get it, infested state and you dont see any number of kills or progress, if you are good enough in the defence, so again you are going to spend hours by killing scouts and on Thursday the station will burn, serisouly???? :x :O [woah] [where is it] :D

huh?
i thought there is now a progess bar, somewhere in the new interface.
sorry if i am wrong, but i didn't follow that livestream that showed it with full attention

Cavalieri Station in Electra is bugged out. Can't drop out of Supercruise at the Station. Open and Solo it doesn't work. Loses connection.

Everything else works in the game I can travel anywhere else no issues, including both Megaships in Electra.

There's already at least one ticket for that: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/468547-Can-t-drop-into-Cavalieri-station-in-Electra

Factabulous, those are great news! Massive to Significant. Now we cant track if we're doing right through Galnet!

Looks like we made some progress. I was in the AX CZ in Electra, killed 363 Scouts and 1 Cyclops here.
It looks buggy because sometimes there are only scouts. The bar on the right side reached maximum and nothing else happens.

I wish I could find AX CZ with only scouts, I always get chased off by an interceptor just as I'm getting into it...

Spent last night in Werapana and tried out a few AXCZs. Without a wing its a difficult fight on your own. I was doing fine until a basilisk and a cyclops jumped in and started trashing all the npcs. Imho i think we need the 4 weapon limit lifted to be really effective in these axczs. After running i made it back to the station only to then be attacked by players on the way. They were not HALT as there was no comms before interdiction. I got away from them only to be interdicted by thargoids trying to make my escape. Last night was the most exciting game play ive had playing elite.

Factabulous
Thanks for the updates [up].

But 1 piece of your information is wrong - * You can also find NHSS all over the Pleiades - within about 166 Ly of Merope, but it won't help save any systems.

I have pointed this out twice before :p, I don't know if you just missed that or don't believe it, but here's an article talking about it (yes I'm that cmdr). For independently verified data, check out Cannon's 3d NHSS map which uses LCUs EDMC plugin (including data from me & other cmdrs) showing that NHSSs occur upto just under 175 LYs from Merope within the Pleiades area, not just attacked systems in the bubble.

I dropped into a bugged AX CZ in Werapana yesterday where there was just an endless stream of Scouts inside the CZ, even after the progress bar had been completed.

Myself and a few other Sap Core guys have been working in Jormbu (We could always use more help :D ), those AX CZs are certainly a run for your money. Repair / decon limpets and weapon diversity are definitely the name of the game it seems. Helps to have wing members split up too - some deal with scouts and swarms and the others take the interceptors. The NPC ships are good for distracting interceptors and killing the occasional scout, but they're not the greatest at hitting the hearts.

That's what was happening to me last night. I also noted that the swarms seem to focus the hummies. Which I was the only one. Maybe just coincidence, but I can't tank 2 medusa's worth of swarm.

Dang, those Thargoid CZs are tough

I brought my AX Cutter to Wuli to fight them 'Goids.
Quad Gauss, 8A Prismatic, all those shinies.

First AX CZ run I barely managed to kill a Cyclops and some scouts, before I had to bail out with 25% hull.
Second run I had to bail out after some Scouts when an unfriendly Basilisk wanted to ruin my day. 15% hull.
Third run I finished the CZ 2/3rds, killed several scouts and two Cyclops before another Interceptor jumped in.

Not fun. Really not fun. I'm soaked in sweat now :D

Tackling multiple Interceptors at once, while the Scouts are busy buffing everything definitely ramps up the difficulty. I spent a lot of last night trying to skirt around the Interceptors and chew away at the scouts. Inevitably allied ships were wiped out and I ended up being the sole target. Glad my MCs worked for shooting down Swarm missiles at range.

The Lance worked quite well. My SLF pilot was popping scouts entirely on her own left and right. I'll have to try out out in the War/Civil War CZs next.

Yes the AXCZ's are really difficult but a lot of fun. Last night I was able to solo my first cyclops. It had followed me outside the CZ area when I flew out to let my shields recharge just after two interceptors had dropped in the CZ and I had hit it a few times with triple Gauss. But I am not counting it as a full right proper solo because it seemed to me that the swarm was not acting just right. But I was happy to have the experience. I also had the experience of all the NPC's getting killed and being the only target left for the herd. I will have to try the Lance after I unlock it. I have read that it is the better of the three.

In other news, AXI seems to have defended Electra, good job! Thargoid presense: none.
But the Starport is still burning ?! (At least on Galmap)

Some questions:

- do we have to win AX CZs to reduce the incursion states, or simply kill goids?
- is the port really burning and will keep burning till the next thargoid tick?
- will it be in repair state or back to normal?

Woke up aboard the Liberator and lo! The Thargoids are gone from Electra indeed, at least the AX CZ. What they left behind, though, is a massive Connection Error shield that effectively hinders me from dropping at Cavalieri now, gave up after 5th attempt.

Cavalieri obviously is damaged but people are happy and enjoy Civil Liberty, you just can't go there atm.

The Liberator itself is a disappointment so far btw. No AX missions, and they don't even sell the basic AX stuff??

O7,

Good job on Electra:

(One day FDev will realise that they should fix underlying issues (like special characters) rather than going through them one by one as they seem to :( )

Who knows? I understood that there were no NHSS in the bubble, so there's that

probably the same as before - burns this week, repair next week
- will it be in repair state or back to normal?
probably the same as before - burns this week, repair next week. Will be interesting to see if the repair requirements are similar
