Same happened to me the first time using the DC. I got lucky and didn't loose the ship. Bomb #20 listened and went back into the bomb bay. I bet Talby had something to do with it.

Would be kinda cool to have the choice of the current bobblehead or a small version of the tomato alien from Darkstar.

so after i bought it for 4500 cr and requested the docking , it crashed right into the station and destroyed my ship and so it destroyed itself. maybe i got a HAL 9000 or the bomb-computer from darkstar, at least : it sucked and the programmer of this should take some refresh.....

I completely agree- I listen to my own music too whilst playing!

I've already logged a ticket about the fact that the music plays irrespective of music volume in the audio options. I guess it's not a priority- Frontier still have it listed as New and untouched, and this was a couple of weeks ago!

All I ever do is listen to the blue Danube on infinite loop. Its the only song in the universe!

I've used a docking computer on every ship in the game all the way up to Anaconda. I don't mind it. Had to cut in and deactivate it a few times on my Lakon 9 and I wouldn't say I feel completely safe to leave the keyboard while it's on in the more expensive ships, but it does appear to do the job (albeit slowly, which is part of the charm).

Each to their own.

Yup, I have to agree with the majority on this... I had one fitted to my old Lakon Type 9 before I got the 'Conda, and by the time it had finished docking, we had gone from beta 1.03 to 1.04, and my cargo of fish had evolved into primates and taken over the cargo hold.

At the Faulcon DeLacy dealership :
"Will sir be requiring a docking computer in his new Anaconda?"
"GOOD GOD NO" I replied, choking on my Lavian coffee.

I do love the Blue Danube though :)

what's the best way to cancel the docking computer in a hurry?

Last night my Docking Computer decided to bounce my type 9 across the pad instead of docking...

I was watching it amused, wondering how long it'll take, then the whole screen went red and double image and I was "oh oh it's going to explode"

so I luckily managed to switch to the systems screen and switch the docking computer off...

but what's the easiest way?

out of station I'll throttle up...

but on the docking pad?

Apperently the docking area has not been reset from the last docking and if you do a 180 on the docking area you can dock, face the wrong way to usual.

I am waiting for this to happen to me again to try it out.

DMB

Well after about 15 or 20 trips to various planets trying desperately to buy a docking computer for my Anaconda I, quite ironically, became very good at landing the thing, but couldn't find one.

Given that the possibilities for exploration are pretty limited at the moment, I gave in, bought a Viper at iBootis and, guess what, they had a docking computer for it!

Clearly this means that equipment isn't universal in the game and is ship-type specific. I was (semi) surprised.

Well I've been quite happy with the docking computers I've had so far, but now I've just managed to get a Lakon-6 and I can't seem to find anywhere that sells them.

Anybody have an ideas? I assume they are available for this ship?

They are available for every ship. My experience is that when I trade in a ship with a DC for another ship. The DC is right there to buy again for the new ship. So next time buy it right after changing ships.
Look in the surroundings of iBootis / Eranin..

Great, thank you. No luck so far though, but I'll keep looking.

I bought E : D last week and spent the first few hours cursing mouse controlled docking - i have fear of docking from Elite on the AtariST. I craved a docking computer. Meanwhile I learned to dock. Now I want the docking computer as a break from sitting here when i could be wandering off to the kitchen compartment to make a coffee. I can't be the only one who has played Elite, Frontier and E : D where the immersion doesn't stop just because I am not sat at the computer :D

I had a bad experience with the computer, it smashed me into the side of a station. Love the music though, it was nice listening to the Blue Danube when my squashed corpse was floating away.

Safety tip: Don't leave your docking computer unattended. It lies in wait, waiting for an opportunity for your attention to be divided so it can pile you into a wall...

I bought the Docking Computer, used it once, sold it, never looked back.

Took all the fun out of docking. As a space trucker, that's about the only actual manoeuvring I need to do.
