Although I really love the tune - very nostalgic, I would like the option to turn it off! I listen to my own tune through wmp whilst playing the game!:)

okay, here's a safety tip, when running silent, do not use the docking computer!

as when the docking computer kicks in you cannot disengage silent running and the ship heats up out of control.

yes much frantic button pressing was done to switch the docking computer so that silent running could be turned off before the ship lost too much health.

Docking ATC

Hi All

One of the main things i dislike about ED is the arrangement for docking
at the moment entry and exit to the station is a free for all
and there is hardly a time when you dont meet something or several somethings trying the slot at the same time

this is realy stupid, even airports have a system for this and it should not be difficult to impliment

as far as the computer generated ships are concerned its in the coding
for players ships , fines or detruction on defult

1 docking station flags permissions and calls ships forward from outside in order of permissions given
2 docking station checks permissions and alternates in/out slots
3 if no request in/out in que then go to next
4 only one ship in the slot at a time
5 needs a threshold for entry,(say 1km) ship given a pad number and time slot when called forward , issued an abort command if not at threshold within alloted time ( in this case goes automaticly to end of que) no need to ask again
6 no ship allowed within 3km of entrance lane without a docking slot,
7 player ships take preferance on slot tickets , computer generated ships are always tagged to the end of que,, only enter/leave if no player requests

without some control like this it will always be a war at the slot, andplayers will get fed up and start causing problems for every one,

a system like this will make the game flow more realistic and fair to all
and calm down tempers

An off switch for the docking computer

Don't get me wrong the docking comp is awesome until it starts grinding the ship against the station, or sitting for 10 minutes doing the jitterbug.

I have not found a way to turn it off, if there is one let me know if there isn't I think we need one.

There is a work around that works about 70% of the time, when it gets stuck switch to Headlook mode and scroll around your view most of the time it will break the jitterbug effect . :D

You can take over manual control at any time by just raising the throttle manually. Just tap W and the docking computer will turn off and let you do your thing.

My bad your absolutely right you can turn it off in the modules menue thanks a ton!

So I guess my suggestion should be we should be allowed to bind the modules or there commands to a key! :D

that is an oke way unless you have a hold full of contraband and you are being scanned, which does happen sometimes. a more efficient way such as the possibility of pulling it's plug would be nice.

I'm glad it's not just me, I thought my ship was more interested in dancing the waltz to the Blue Danube music than wanting to dock. :p ;)

Hopefully the docking computer will be improved by Beta 2; I've had to go back to manual docking for the time being.

If in doubt turn it off.

Not actually required but if you really want to sneak in cold, request docking, then turn everything but your drives off, (and power plant which cannot be shut down) and go it with FAOFF.
you have 10 minutes of breathables, you'll be fine.

Just add a Little foreward thrust to turn the computer off. :)
