Docking Computer Music (Dear Frontier Devolpments)

Can please do us a favor? (the ones like Blue Danube) Is it possible after we request docking , no matter if we are equipped with docking computer to be able to listen to Blue Danube anyway?

I loved the FFE Soundtrack (J. Strauss, Wagner, Grieg, Mussorgsky..), and I suggest to also add some Beethoven, Dvorak, Holst and R. Strauss :)

This (and much more music) could be implemented as a "cosmetic" feature to the store (covering the licences) and bound to different music groups via options menu.

I can dock quicker manually than the DC... Would you like video proof?

Asides from the 'holding pattern' which is getting removed in 1.4 I believe...
As long as there's nothing on the radar I can zip through at whatever speed I like (not 100M/s) and use the pad itself as a brake.
(Thrust down into it)

The bigger the ship the less of a disparity, I do use the DC but mainly only when already through the mailslot and for outposts (as there is no holding pattern delay on the outposts) but I can (and do if wanting to get there quickly) dock faster than the DC.

Not attacking, just gently reminding that maybe you didnt read my reply fully as you only snipped the portion of my quote without the most important part. My quote was human player CAN dock faster on rotational stations, but not at outposts.

for mailslot / rotational stations - yes, you can blast in at top speed faster than the SDC. But yes, id like to see video proof that from the range we pop out of supercruise from an outpost and close to 7.5km to get assigned landing pad, that you can instantly spot which axis and top/bottom side has your assigned landing pad.

my full quote, not just the portion you quoted of me was:

"any claim you can do it just as well is imo false. A human player can enter the mailslot just as well and likely a bit faster for rotational stations since current version has a small delay while it queues up.

but for outposts, no possible way. A human cant see from the entry angle we enter half the time whether our assigned landing pad is top or bottom of outpost halves. Easily adjusted for yes, but we spend time the SDC automatically knows where pad is and instantly boosts on that correct vector.

so between superior outpost landing speeds AND equal or slightly faster landing at pads once inside rotational stations, Id say overall the SDC is faster overall.

Apparently its still somewhat buggy, SDC just rammed my Cobra to a wall of Froude Enterprise. Basically had my hands off during the approach, at 6km i engaged the SDC and it first aligned it quite well, then just boosted itself to the wall of of the station next to the entrance, after that it was just flipping the ship on the same place. Thats when i decided to land manually.

Unfortunately this means for me that sdc goes back to the merchants shelf untill the next fix.

What I'd really like as an upgrade / tweak to Standard Docking Computer is the ability to use our other ship functions while the SDC is active - in particular:

1. Be able to toggle on/off silent running

2. Pop heat sink

Right now, both those functions are completely disabled while SDC is active, would really love to be able to use those while SDC is doing its thing.

Docking Computer flaky since latest PC 1.3.07 patch?

Every landing on an outpost in my Asp Explorer has pancaked me into the landing pad since the last patch. Managed to get manual control back and reset and it lands second time around but did something break in the latest patch? DC prior to that in .06 landed at outposts like it was on rails. This seems to have gone back to V1.2 DC type behaviour.

Docking in main stations still stills OK but I've had a 100% error experience to date on outposts.

you may have a glitch in your docking computer... sell and get a new one... see if that improves the behaviour. My docker is working at 100% efficiency even after i roasted it and had it emergency repaired at an outpost. regards.

Zero major issues auto docking with my asp, and i just got done grinding 322 missions for faction rank - half or more landing at outposts.

A very few, i'd say 2% or less minor bumps but only specific to outposts AND me manually boosting before SDC enabling.
1 every 50 landings on outposts, if i manually boost just before contacting for dock permission - seems in very small to ~2% of the time, confuses the SDC and i hit the pad at moderate speed, basically a soft crash landing. No dmg with shields, minor hull dmg without

but only way i can replicate the error is if i really boost hard , right before engaging SDC that then does the usual boost-boost to close range

so overall, zero problems ever with my cargo ships at big stations, and low percent - minor bump off pad on outposts

The docking computer throws away the best part of the game at the moment: docking. Without manual docking, most of piloting is just pressing J in short sequences.

But if some people like it, then i'm glad it exists.

Using it for my Anaconda, which tbh, allows me to dock quicker and easier.....otherwise it's a bit scrappy at times

For any other ships atm, I wouldn't bother.
