The first time I let it land my Asp at an outpost wow! 100m/s nose down towards the pad then pull up great stuff!

It really depends what your doing in game, currently I've been hitting Conflict Zone's and after about 30 - 40 minutes intense flying having the computer land the ship is a welcome break.

It started to annoy me for some reason it doesn't go directly go to the letterbox half the time as if it's calculated a suboptimal route. So starts thrusting upwards etc when it just needs to head strait on. I ditched because it's quicker to make a bee-line to the destination maybe they should teach it that.

It may "look" like it's trying to kill you occasionally, especially on outposts, but since 1.3 I have used it for every docking with my python and it has yet to even make a scratch on the paintwork, also can never get tired of blue danube lol. If you want to hurry things up a touch just fly the letterbox yourself and throttle back the moment you clear it and it will kick in perfectly rotating you to the correct landing pad.

I didn't know I could take over the controls from it.

Well if you throttle back up while its docking you can, also it doesn't take control from you until you zero your throttle, so even after requesting docking you can fly as much of the approach as you like, including through the letterbox before you allow it to take over.

Would like to get one for my Anaconda. But, the horror stories on this forum has put me off..

Those ppl did something more then just use a docking computer for things to go wrong.

Like: go AFK while docking or fly without Shields, sometimes both.

It does have a few issues with the Clipper, but the next DC update should resolve all current issues plus will include a few speedups.

Make it boost all the way inside the station and stop just over the pad ^^ just to get a little rush

Oh come on, how can someone call himself a pilot while using a docking computer..?

If docking was like landing a plane in DCS then maybe there would be bragging rights.

You should design the "Advanced Docking Computer" - make it EXTRA fast and scary for triple the money!!! You know you want to....

I found it very disappointing and I won't have another one until it has the instantly-docked feature that it had in the original Elite; though if an "Advanced Docking Computer" should come along that's faster than me doing it myself, I'll probably give it a try.

Personally I'll never use it, I enjoy docking and it takes next to no effort to do. If docking was as hard as the BBC days then I'd probably grab one, until then no. But if you're too lazy to dock manually go for it. :)
