The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Mission objective:
Adding more systems with organic life to the GMP.

Mission details:
Canonn Research lists 20 systems with Bark Mounds (list here) but these may have to be verified post the 3.0 update.

Fly to one of these locations or submit another location you know of. Take some nice screenshots, note orbital body and coordinates of the location and report back to this thread.

I have visited the reported Rosette and Jellyfish sector Bark Mound sites and confirmed they are gone. :/

Hopefully I get this correct

why? si dangerous or bugged?

While i was not playing elite when there were rotating stars, it was probably because of bugs. Most stars would rotate so slowly it would never be noticed, and the few that rotate quickly would be stretched into an oblate shape, which causes issues with exclusion zone and close orbits.

Name: Calidum Capsicum Annuum (that's latin for "Hot potato")

Game map search ref: STREAU EOP ZP-N C23-0

POI: Planetary features

Description: A four star system located on the far side of the Abyss region, not far from routes to and from Beagle Point. Around the primary star there orbits a curiously misshapen orange-red potato-like world. Being only 8 light seconds distant from the star it is being constantly baked; and with an orbital period of just over a day, it is travelling very quickly. Be prepared to chase it if you wish to land on it.

* Links to the Soul Nebula – NGC 7538 Line

Description:
These are three neutron highways which link the three nebula of NGC 7882 Nebula, the Soul Nebula and the NGC 7538 Nebula.

These three highways/lines make up the Neublua Neutron Triangle and provide quick access between the NGC 7882 Nebula (Gorgon Research Facility), near the Bubble, to the Heart and Soul Nebulas (Base Camp and Farsight Expedition Base) near the Formidine Rift and the NGC 7538 Nebula further out out in the Via Maris.

The cover parts of the Via Maris, the Wayfarers Graveyard, The Orio-Pertsean Gap

They incorporate parts of/or routes similar to the Rift Neutron Starway, the Lantern Highway and the CoR Border Patrol Route but have further neutron stars mapped or link up the routes for commanders who wish to move around this part of space quicker.

The Goal of these lines is to provide quick access between the Formidine Rift, the Bubble and deeper into the Via Maris and later the Perseus Crags (currently being mapped) as well as other features in this area.

The distances between Neutron stars vary but even for a commander with a 30LY jump range this is a quick way to move around, with a larger jump range it can get down to under two hours of straight play to get from Gorgon Research facility to the NGC 7882 Nebula.

I'd like to propose the first gas giant of system Striechooe HO-D c14-2 as a new PoI in the category "planetary feature". It's a Hot Jupiter about 30 ls away from its G-class main star, and it is peculiar because it has some very narrow rings. I don't think I have ever seen this kind of ring system before. I'd suggest calling this PoI "Hula Hoop", for obvious reasons.

While Cmdr Korver beat me to it by a day, it's such a pretty spot I thought it worthwhile to supplement his rather brief description and give some more screenshots:

A visually striking planetary nebula along the Colonia Connection Highway. The neutron star at its center provides a welcome boost to long-distance travel, but taking a pause from your journey to admire the view is well worth it. The deep-red stellar remnant, aptly named by Cmdr Korver "The Rusty Net," has caught within it a G-class secondary with two life-bearing water worlds and two rocky terraformables. From within the planetary nebula the nearby Skaudai emission nebula is clearly visible, lighting the way to Sacagawea spaceport and on to the Festival Grounds.
