You missed button 15. It the second click on the main trigger. If you push it fully button 1 and 15 are pressed.

Unfortunately I've not found a way to assign button 15 to primary fire in Alpha 1.1 - but i would love to.

Thanks very much for that Dognosh! I've got an X52 Pro arriving sometime this week - just in time for the 30th. Your post will help me no end with sorting out what's what ;)

Somebody posted this a while ago (sorry, I searched and couldn't find the original producer of the image) - been a godsend for me...

Slide control I use Joy RY Axis rotation and Joy RX Axis rotation controls. It great when you need to be that slow control. I also use the Joy 24,25,26 and 27 in slide control for in combat control.

Now the Wheel is great when you need to zoom in or out of radar.

Then I use 12 14 16 for Scanner view, and Ship management,

9 11 13 for landing Gear, Cargo Scoop, retract Weapons

Now the button by the mini mouse I use for head view and use the mini mouse to view any direction.

Lestat, do you know how I can DISABLE the mini mouse and button to work as a normal mouse. I want to use those as axes and an additonal button?

thanks all :)

Kaputtnik, yes I did notice 1 and 15, but didn't post as it only accepts 1, as you said

GUYS, anyone know how i can set my X52 PRO to send out JOY16 JOY17 JOY18 and JOY19 signals, instead of mouse signals, to ED ? is it a setting in the Saitek software ? (as Kaputtnik requested too)

p.s. If it involves installing the SST software then I won't , as I heard it has problems with WIN 7(64 bit) :)

EDIT : Now it shows mouse stuff as JOYxx , so all working ok , but dunno how !?

Did you download the software Smart Technology from Saitek.

Ok My mouse Button next to the mini mouse is only to use to reset head control otherwise I could use the mini mouse for Thrust up down left right if I wanted to.

Note I don't have the Saitek 52x Pro but the Classic version of the Saitek 52x

Has anyone used a PS3 Controller?

Apols if this has been asked before, I can't find anything. I've recently emerged from deep lurkage.

I've been using a very old first release xbox 360 wireless controller with alpha 1. It's been ok, but the analogue sticks are quite highly tensioned, by that I mean they seem either full lock or centered there's not much in between, little sensitivity almost digital. I want something a bit looser

So I bought a cheap Thrustmaster, which I'm struggling with to be honest, a great lump of plastic with buttons all over the place. I've only had it a day and I haven't set it up correctly (the throttle seems to only do lateral) but I've already decided I don't like it.

I've got a PS3 controller here, its sticks seem a bit nicer, I want to try that. Its USB and windows 7 claims it knows what it is, but nothing appears on the windows game controller test. Has anyone used one?

i think your find that the PS3 ctrl doesnt work with a pc as i tried this just last week, and ive xbox ctrl is getting a little worn lol...

Using a PS3 controller is possible - I have used one since Alpha began,
although it does require some effort to set-up.
I use the MotionInJoy drivers, and the interface from BetterDS3. I'm not at my computer right now, so I'll see if I can post a link later - unless someone else has the details to hand.

Ps3

Ive been using one in Premium Beta since Saturday and its fine....after downloading motionjoy you have to disable driver signature to get it to work (do this from safemode)

I've been flying with my PS3 Dualshock 3 since the very beginning of alpha.

I was using motioninjoy, but DS3 tool winds me up. Often has to be re-paired a lot.

BetterDS3 is worth looking into, it seems to have less trouble for me.

At the moment though I'm using a simple XInput wrapper from ScarletCrushProductions, which once paired I've never had to touch again, works like a dream.

As far as I remember the only problem I ever had was that neither of my two Bluetooth dongles actually worked with any of the software solutions that allow one to use a PS3 controller on the PC. (If i remember correctly there are compatibility lists, but none of those was available here in Germany, when I checked, and I really didn't want to start ordering such stuff from the states just to get my PS3 controllers wireless on my PC.)

I did however have no problems using them wired.

Also: Do note that motioninjoy does not have a very good reputation. I do not know for sure whether there is anything to it, but some of the tools/drivers that actually do work are rumored to have components that some might not want to have on their PC. (like calling home and stuff)

Furthermore: If you do want to use your X-Box 360 Controller as well take note that some of the drivers that allow the use of the PS3 controller on the PC do conflict with the drivers of the 360 Controller. I had one such 'problematic' driver installed and when I got myself a wireless 360 controller for my PC I ended up uninstalling the PS3 driver ... resulting in the 360 controller working and the PS3 controllers (wired) also working. (Yea, strange indeed.)

So bottomline:
- wired: will most certainly work somehow
- wireless: might work, but don't get you hopes up ;)

I would advise spending a little more time getting to grips configuring your joystick before discarding it. Try some of the presets but then go through the options and set it up to your liking. The most common problem, apart from axes being assigned wrong like you're seeing, is that axes are assigned to their button equivalents. For example, in the control options, highlight the "Throttle Axis" (not the increase and decrease throttle settings) and then move the throttle to assign it.

I was using motionjoy with ps3 dualshock and just kept it connected via usb. My opinion is its a usable joystick but compared to a HOTAS setup tricky.

Saitek X-55 vs others

So I have the Saitek X-55 Rhino ordered, but it is not here yet. This is my first HOTAS controller so I am quiet excited to try it out.
However reading the hardware issues people are having with the X-55 I am wondering if I've made the right decision by purchasing this controller or I should have gone with something else.

I am currently using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. I could have just get a throttle control for it I assume, but the initial reviews of the X-55 made it sound like it is one of the best controller in that price range.

I am just curious and wanted to see some others opinion if I should keep my X-55 order or cancel it and keep my current joystick and get a CH Pro Throttle that I've heard really good things about.

By the way I am happy with my current Joystick but without a throttle control I am pretty handy capped when it comes to flying in combat.

Thanks for your input! :)
