For the longest time, the CH Flightstick Pro was your only option for an ambidextrous joystick. The gameport FS Pro got me through X-Wing and TIE in the 90s. But only four buttons and a hat would be a big limitation in any heavy-workload sim.Are there any Joysticks that work for left-handed?
I don't use the Nostromo, but rather a Razor Orbweaver. I just bind keyboard keystrokes and macros to it and ED recognizes them fine.
I use VoiceAttack now for all the Orbweaver key binds, but still have it handy for backup in case a voice command doesn't register.
Do you also use a joystick? If so did that work fine?
Was it Orbweaver drivers or the razer synapse 2.0?
I did use it in the alpha, when I had to unplug the throttle and pedals from my G940.
Fortunately they're all supported now so I don't need the n52pro.
However I don't use the drivers for it as battlefield wouldn't let me use two joysticks so I programmed the keys I wanted onto the pad and uninstalled its driver, so now it's seen as just a keyboard.
This does mean I have to set my keys to this much like a qwert, and can't profile switch, but it's never been much of a problem.
Hi
Just came across think stick: Speedlink Phantom Hawk.
Looks kind of nice, has 8 way coolie hat, a 4 function D-pad and 12 buttons, plus it's cheap 8)
Has anyone here used it? Looks alot better then the logitech stick i was planning to get (Extreme 3) and did i mention it's cheaper?
Regards.
Are there any Joysticks that work for left-handed?
The only one that I've found so far that let's me change things to make it work for left-handed:
Thrustmaster T.16000M
Are there any others? I can't be the only left-handed here.
Well, out of all those joystick only the T-16000M is worth the price.
I used one for quite a bit and really the only downside of it is that the buttons aren't the best (they are some weird rubber "skin" and not actually hard buttons).
The Phantom Hawk is a bit like a copy of the Saitek, and it"s really comfy and well built, the hats are really nice. Only one problem, you need to move it quite a bit for it to register. It"s like playing a fast paced PC game with a controller, unacceptable. Can't believe this went past testing...
Shame, such a waste, because it seemed to be the only alternative to a throttle-less Saitek equivalent with less bling.
At the moment flying in ED has become more awkward with a HOTAS, mainly because I've been used to a Xbox 360 controller <spit>. The problem I have is whether to have yaw on the throttle and lateral thrust on the hat switch, or vice versa. I must admit, landing on an outpost is loads of fun with lateral thrust. Combat? I'm getting better, but is far worse than when I used an Xbox controller.
Hats off to those who can handle a HOTAS in ED.![]()
