Yeah, the combination of Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, and Christmas depleted stocks of HOTAS products. I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and a Nostromo gamepad.

Hello all you Elite Dangerous Saitek X52 peeps. I have just successfully modified my dead zones by adding 4 extra magnets (from Jaycar Electrical NZ) they are same diameter but twice the thickness. Just let them click onto inside of the existing magnets to shorten distance needed to activate sensors. worked a treat. I also firmed up the Spring by following a youtube vid that used a cut out of the top of CD bulk pack.

Both these mods have worked a treat and solved my issues with this Controller setup :)

Sorry it took me a while to find this post... I am using Nostromo N52 with Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and Voice Attack as well. I've worked hard to make a profile that works and I am about 90% satisfied with this one. Please check it out and let me know of any issues you find (or if you make any improvements!).

I am having problems with ED recognizing my joystick after I install the Nostromo drivers.. Is there anyone else out there using a Nostromo and a Joystick combo?

If so how did you get yours to work or is my issue a special case?

Any help is appreciate as I can't find an answer anywhere..

No one really?

I use this set up. Nostromo with a Logitech 3D Pro. Works fine, but I don't think I have the Nostromo drivers installed. I think I just let windows detect it as a keyboard.

I just got the X-55 Rhino for Xmas and still working on a setup to use it for the game. I'm happy that the game has been setup to be used with all these great controls.

X55 here, came from an xbox one controller, my deadliness as a bounty hunter has sky rocketed. The amount of control over my viper is ridiculous. Haven't died in a fight in over 3 weeks and the money keeps rolling in!

Nostromo + Joystick

But do you have the Razer software installed?
Thats what got me.. it works fine until you install the razer stuff then my joystick stopped working with ED.

Hi,
I use an X-55 and the Nostromo with the Razer software installed. It all worked right from the start, so I have no special tricks to pass on.

I have a nostromo and a saitek x52 PRO. I prefer the nostromo over the x52 throttle. Although it looks nice it doesn't have enough buttons and some of the buttons are flimsy. So I use the nostromo PLUS the x52 pro joystick. Works pretty damn well. Oh yeah, also voice attack and the oculus rift dk2. Also, they once upgraded the nostromo software to 'Synapse' I tried it and went back to the old software and haven't went back to synapse. Synapse SUCKS, it's the main reason why I have an orbweaver and tartarus but have not taken them out of the box.

Actually, the software identifies as Razer Nostromo. I think that might be the legacy driver as opposed to the Synapse unified drivers.

i currently own a very old (gameport anyone?) Saitek X36F with the X35T throttle which does work pretty well but it has its limitations with the button layout and numbers, no twist on the stick etc
plus its a bit big for my hands, so i use mouse and keyboard most of the time. I'v been thinking about switching to a dual stick setup but i'm not sure which ones would be good and i would also need pedals which i never used before.
So if anyone got any tips, hints, ideas etc would be much appreciated

I currently have/use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro & a NIB Saitek X52 in reserve. I have to have a stick with Yaw. I'll probably do the mods suggested by YPPARCS to make the X52 a bit more resilient & accurate.

Newb with a question

Hi all,

Just joined forum & bought/installed game yesterday. Have just bought the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X from amazon after seeing some really good reviews. Have one question though... Having never used a "joystick" for a game before (always used gamepad or mouse/keyboard) any tips on what's best setup for button config?

Thanks in advance.

New Today and need guidance on laptop specs, joystick and throttle..

Afternoon All,

Just signed up today and wanting to get in the game as soon as possible. I need to run via a laptop and was wondering if anyone could give me specs on a good set up?. Certainly not minimum specs!...but certainly not OTT. A good solid mid range spec that would do a good job?. The primary focus for the specs would be for the game itself.

Also, I have seen some video's regarding the CH Pro Throttle and CH Combat Stick and the users seemed very happy - can I go wrong with these?

Thanks Guys

Laptops are trickier to spec because they sometimes have heat troubles and downclock themselves. Mobile graphics chips are generally weaker too. A quad core CPU at 2ghz at is a good benchmark (I have heard of some getting away with dual core) and even an old i7 like my 870 is capable. An i5 should be ok too. As for the graphics chip it will depend on the resolution you want to run at. For my 1920x1200 a GTX 750Ti is pretty reasonable on ultra settings but I wouldn't want to go much lower than that without dropping my resolution or settings. You can use http://gpuboss.com to compare graphics chips and a GTX285 is pretty much the minimum requirement.

That throttle/stick combo will work great as many use them. I think the x52 is probably more popular but that is probably down to the age of the stick and the recent promo FD did. The x55 and and Warthogs are pretty popular and at the budget end the T-Flight or T.16000m are common.

em.... it's a laptop.....

@ OP

go for something built in the last 12 months

@ least 8GB of RAM ( when I play on mine when away from home... it struggles with 4)

get a lappy with a standalone GPU...

try to play wired into a router.. wireless struggles

use a joystick that you are comfortable with ... and can afford.... even low price generic joys are ok (look for the ones with twist/yaw)..... a Thrustermaster HOTAS will put u back about 32 quid here in the UK
