Surprisingly I'm using an XBOX 360 wireless controller. It's actually really handy for the station menus etc. I have tried a Logitech Extreme 3D but using the menus was so awkward I went back to my gamepad controller. I can now sit in front of the big TV on a beanbag playing elite - don't need any keyboard, mouse at all. Sweet. I use a very slightly modified Advanced Controller layout.

Warthog on the right (roll, pitch; throttle on thumb rocker), Space Navigator on the left (yaw, thrusters, headlook).

It actually works for me. But I need a third hand mod, coffee keeps getting cold.

Coffee hat with gravity feed straw?

I'm planning on picking up an x52 soon but would like to grab a T-Flight HOTAS X if I could find one available anywhere. Does anyone happen to know of a site where they are still available?

I use T.16000 and I find it to be very precise.

In my left hand I rigged up my old belkin N52 as throttle/target and menu control.

Just an idea other than buying the hotas.

Me too. Great combo for flight games. Previously used the N52 with a mouse in some MMOs, but got tired of it (along with those MMOs) and put it in the closet. I have both ED and SC, so got it out of storage to pair with the T16000m since I didn't already own a throttle. So glad I did. I don't think I could play either game without it now. No desire at all to go buy a throttle. If I bought something new for the left hand, it would just be a new gamepad. I use voice attack, but I still like having bindable keys for everything. I use the bottom left key on the N52 as a function key, so with the gamepad and joystick there are like 58 programable keys / key-combos between the two without even using the buttons on the stick's base. Use voice attack for convenience and when a second doesn't matter.

I have a speedlink Black Widow.
Would say for the money it is very good and would recommend for any one on a budget or just to see the difference between joystick vs mouse and KB.
Only thing was getting used to is rudder on throttle but it works well enough. Nicely laid out and pretty solid.

Has hat switch, 8 buttons, throttle and rudder all I need :)

I enjoy a comfortable set up, which is listed in my signature.
I think I am the only person in ED using a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2.
