Thrustmaster T16000M 16 buttons![]()
Which are really poorly place, to be honest.
I love mine, but it *NEEDS* a throttle (eg. CH Pro Throttle) to shine.
I'd probably be looking at a Thrustmaster HOTAS X.

I have both the Logitech and the Thrustmaster and the latter is the winner IMHO, although Logitech's thrust slider is much better.
I've got a T-1600M and it does the job, stick precision is great, but it's let down by it weird button layout. It would benefit form a second hat and a thumb trigger though. Side bonus is it can be used by lefties.
If you’re in Europe you can try tracking a Defender M5 Cobra down, good budget stick from a Russian company based on the Mig 29s flight stick.

Its not a novel definition, its the definition of best. For smuggling (lol), and mining (lol) there are better ships I agree. But for exploration, trading and pew v pew its the de facto king.
People cried that the Python did everything well (except exploring because jumprange). And it got nerfed. Guess what's next in line?
Maybe I had bad luck but from december 2014 with normal use 2 Thrustmaster T.16000m are broken.
the first the left/right twist, and now today the second the trigger button and also the left/right twist is broken.
Now I need to find a new one for my left hand use but this type is the only one that is ambiguous
I started with brand new X52 at release, but after around 10 days it was creaking and cracking to the point I thought it was about to fall apart ( particularly the throttle ). I exchanged it with Amazon for the X52 pro.
The stick on the pro felt quite a bit better, but the throttle was still creaking and cracking from day one and started to get slowly worse, so I returned it and ordered the CH Pro throttle and T16000M.
They both arrived a couple of days ago and I am finally happy with my control system. The throttle is simply superb with way more buttons in far more sensible/useful positions and the mini thumb joystick is just perfect for the thrusters. It is also built like a tank and feels like you could use it to hammer nails.
The T16000m is far more precise and much smoother in operation to both the X52 and the pro, and also has far less play which is fantastic for the £35 I paid.
I Will never buy anything from Saitek/Madcatz again.
Guys help I need a new joystick and throttle any tips for a cheap setup?
OK here's my issue to see if others have experienced similar/same:
I have a MS sidey 2 FF stick. I set Generic Joystick climb/dive as in traditional aviation style: pull back is up, forward is dive.
Now and again the game flips it round so have to 'p' or 'Esc' mid game to select y axis again, resume game,
see if it works, if not 'Esc' again and invert or normal, it can be on either.
Anyone found a similar problem?
No, I can't afford another stick right now! When I will, I will invest in a thrust pedal or a stick with TONS of column and big head buttons and castle/hatswitches for the thrusters. See Suncom F-15Eagle stick, like that sort of thing...
Nice post.
You made some very noobish mistakes (federation -> corporation !!!! ; Python can land on outposts) which seem to indicate that you don't overplay this game. Big ships are sort of candy for people that overplay the game, at least at the moment.
I like a lot of your ideas though. I like a lot of a lot of people ideas, tbh. Darn game, if you only you could be that good!
