Hold on, will the Corvette come out with 1.4 or 1.5?

Hopefully 1.5 (along with Panther Clipper, Dolphin & Beluga Liner) and three other new ships or variants.

We are supposed to have 30 ships. 1.5 will take the ship count to over 30. So there are at least seven ships to come after we get the Imperial Eagle, Federal Assault ship and Federal Gunship in 1.4.

You have no sense of scale on the image that you used to put on the large pad. It's a wild guess.

An Imperial Clipper is 100M long and a Anaconda is 152M long. The Large Pad is a third longer than the Anaconda and twice as long as a Clipper, making it a safe bet it's 200M long. This means the for any ship to be larger than the Anaconda, it would have to be 152M-200M long to still be able to dock.

zimms is correct in saying in Newsletter #61 Frontier stated "The largest player-piloted Federal ship in Elite: Dangerous: the Core Dynamics Corvette". The Panther isn't as long as the Anaconda (from early scale renders), so if the Corvette is smaller and not larger, then the Anaconda may be IT for large ships unless the Beluga is bigger or one of the un-revealed three is a big ship.

That's a very good point, none can know for sure how big it is, who ever photoshoped this image just took a wild re-scalling guess.

What stops FD from adding an external bay to the station anyway ?

I think people are generally underestimating the mailslot size, you can fit an anaconda through very, very comfortably. There is plenty of room for a much bigger ship than what we have now, the current large landing pad is the only hard limit we have, and like you say, there is nothing to keep them from adding in external docking. I hope the Panther, Cutter and Corvette are all very similar in size to the anaconda. Now if they can work the same magic on those as they did on the anaconda and python and somehow give them ridiculously low hull mass and high mass lock and armor, that would be even better.

A good joystick for left handed people?

I have recently started playing Elite: Dangerous and I only have 360 hours logged. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me and my left hand to a good joystick for left handed people. I have searched and found some but the reviews have been very mixed from all the way to very bad to quite good. If you can I would like it if you could recommend one that is not terribly expensive BUT I want to find a good one for left handed people NO MATTER THE COST(I might have to wait awhile before I buy it though).

Tanks for the advice. :3

Yes I meant "tanks"

I'm using the logitech Attack 3 combined with a custom throttle and pedals. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-963291-0403-Attack-3-Joystick/dp/B0000ALFC5

What I really like is the fact that it feels like an A3xx sidestick.

edit - ignore that amazon price

Do you know if it would work together with the Logitec 3D pro? I don't like the throttle part of HOTAS and would instead two sticks and my pedal set up. Seeing as I can find these relatively cheap I am curious as to build quality and compatibility. Is it as reliable as the 3D pro?

I assure it is much easier for a lefty to learn using a right handed joystick with his RIGHT hand than many people think.
It is some kind of false meme going around that says that left handers need left hand joysticks.
It is absolutely not true.

It is just as easy for a lefty to learn using a joystick with his right hand as it is for a righty to learn using a throttle and all the buttons and switches on it with his left hand.

The thing is there are some sticks that are made with right hand bias. Such as the Logitec 3D pro.

Hi ProTanker. I'm also left handed. There is not really any high end flight sticks that accommodate lefties. Even in the real world there are no left handed fighter sticks. I decided to just re-learn how to fly so I could not have such limited options.

I ended up just getting an X-52. It was a little tricky at first, but after a couple weeks it feels natural and fine. No problems at all. I've met several lefty flight sim enthusiasts who have done the same. It really opens more options and doesn't take long to re-train.

Yes, but the point I tried to make is that a left handed person can easily learn to use a right handed joystick with his/her right hand.
I am not suggesting that a true right hand joystick would be comfortable to use with the left hand. That is not the case.

Yeah that's a good point. Most military weapons are also right hand oriented so lefties have to generally learn to shoot right handed. If not something like a SAW is brutal as it ejects the round casings at your arm.

Exactly.
It is not difficult to get used to at all.

So many people (left and right handed) use double sticks for example.
And right handed people learn to manipulate complicated throttles with all kinds of buttons, switches. povs etc with their left hand too, and it doesn't even take them hours.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there, Iskariot.
I feel that there are degrees of left handed-ness. Some can change between the 2 with practice, some can do certain things left and certain things right (e.g. catch a ball) but some are 100% lefties. I fall towards the 100% mark and can't even hold things accurately in my right hand .

In the past I've used a microsoft sidewinder precision pro (for freelancer / x2) and simply held it awkwardly with my left hand and used my right hand to operate the throttle. I then moved on to a cyborg evo (for x2 & E : D) that fitted very well however I didn't get on with it as well as the sidewinder.
For playing E : D I've resorted to keyboard only just as I learnt in 1984 :D I suggest that you give mouse & keyboard a go, ProTankerDestruction. If that doesn't work for you then perhaps consider a combination of right and left hand joysticks in place of a HOTAS setup.

Yep it's very easy to get used to it and everything soon feels natural.

Also controlling the ship with a left hand while the avatar uses the right was wierd to me. Just didn't feel right.

I'm a X-52 loving lefty.

I always used the PC mouse with the right hand(because I imitated my parents I guess) and since then I can't imagine using a mouse or joystick with the left hand. I don't know how it's for others, but I bought a Thrustmaster T.Flight for this game and it works well, even though I've never used a joystick before. Just a matter of habits.
