The stick works fine but the throttle doesn't as Elite D doesn't support 2 sticks yet on the beta. Hope they fix that soon as the pedals i have will be great for yaw etc
i bought the thrustmaster 16000M - cheap and absolute pristine quality
the only thing I need to find is a good position. my arm / hand is so comfortable with a mouse - using a joystick get me wrist pain after an hour mainly from yawing too much...
Does TrackIR work with the combat test (if i buy premium beta)?
So i can use the joystick (but not throttle/pedals) and trackIR?
Yes but you need version 5.5 of the TrackIR software. (or at least not version 4 which I had)
It works great once setup, but I had to set it up with a custom profile to get it to work properly. the various axis were inverse and to much movement left you out side the ship!![]()
Cheers
I should receive my CH pedals next week, and I'm wondering about jumping the gun and buying into premium beta early (I've been planning on doing it late next month). I seem to recall that the 1.1 Alpha has a lot of trouble with multiple controllers.
Will I be able to use the separate CH throttle and stick? I'm pretty sure I won't be able to use the pedals.
If the 1.1 alpha would be updated to include the controller fixes I'd buy it like a shot, but I think I'll spare myself the frustration for now if I couldn't map the controls properly yet anyway.
Given that it appears as a separate device, had anyone tried using the CH throttle with a non-CH Stick?
Curious, because I would like a throttle with an analogue thumbstick for thrusters, but would also like rudder control and don't have room for pedals.
Tnx mate, well i pulled the trigger on the premium beta and have tried the first few missions! Overall I must say that im deeply impressed by what im told is the first alpha version of the game!
I got the stick working but feel very limited without the throttle and its thumbsticks so looking forward alot to may 30th.
TrackIR was acting weird at first but i disabled x and y movement of it and now its great!
Also I hope there is some force feedback support coming to this game. I know many dont use FFB sticks anymore, but for me it adds to the immersion of the game.
Also, since the Logitech g940 uses FFB to adjust centering and actual force needed to move the stick its essential to be able to configure it properly.
In any case, back to shooting stuff!

Ah, I humbly beg to differ! I have an old (and inexpensive) Logitech Force Feedback joystick, which worked a treat with FSX, and whose motors where certainly variable in their strength. One of the things FSX got right was the control surface feedback. In real life, when you actuate airplane control surfaces, you're pushing them into the airflow, hence they have a "resistance" which is progressive, and the airflow creates a tendency to snap them back in place. Microsoft got this spot on with FFB support for FS, it really "made" the sensation of flying a plane, especially the heavies.
Now in a space flight sim, there is no air resistance and therefore no need for FFB.
I don't own one yet, but the X52 and its big Pro brother are mentioned so often in threads like these, there's got to be something to them. If you look closely at the developer videos, even Mr. Braben's team is flying with those!
Really thinking of picking up one of these babies myself, both for Elite as well as MWO, where it has been praised by a lot of players, too. Now I just need to find a store in the EU that sells them for a good price - if I end up having to import one, the customs fees are ridiculous.![]()
And I humbly beg to differ with you. There are all kinds of external vibration sources even in space sim. And also having some FFB effects just adds to realism. There are no real space fighters in real life so you don't really know how the joystick reacts to specific situations. G forces exist in space as well so I believe that would affect ship controls also. I plan to use G940 HOTAS from Logitech (already tested in ALPHA) and really hope that they will implement some FFB support for say missile launch, collisions etc. I also hope the at they have fixed throttle and pedals, from what I hear support for all 3 devices in HOTAS is coming in alpha 4 as well as a profile for G940 (finally).
It should work just fine. I considered the T.16000M for the stick
