I recently bought the Thurstmaster T-Flight Hotas X flight stick and I love it. For $50 you really can't go wrong with it. I do know it's missing some features that the more expensive sticks/throttles have, but saving myself $50-100 is more important to me right now. I did a complete review of it on my website if you want to check out my full thoughts.

I'm using a Spektrum DX8.

Anyone else using an RC TX?

I thought about trying my Turnigy 9x, but I doubt it would be a better solution than a joystick. Mostly because of the buttons. They aren't that many of them on a TX, and they are not as easy to reach.

Old School...

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo Force... (ftw btw)

It would be great to see force feedback appear in the game, would love to feel the hyperspace drive really kick in and wouldn't it be cool if when you get close to a gravity well (planet, star, massive garbage pile, Thargoid poo) you fee lthe pull in your joystick??

It took some weeks for it to arrive, but last week I was able to add a CH Pro Throttle. It makes a great duo with my T.16000M, and flying's great. The T.16000M gives me twist-yaw and I'm using the CH Throttle's 'thumb-joystick' for thrusting sideways en up/down.

For even more immersion I recently added VoiceAttack. That brilliant piece of software enhances my experience even further.

Now all that's left to add is a VR set. Next year, perhaps. :)

Anyone had any luck with a Xbox One pad? Currently using the 360 one, but the xbox one pad would be better.

I tried playing with a joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) but am not better at all than with my gamepad.

I am still trying out different control schemes using my own profiler, using the triggers (which are analog axes) for rudder seems to work well for me, but then I need to use something else (or a different profile) to fire the weapons. I also made some "filters" that adjusts the sensitivity of the thumbstick axes (dampening, nonlinearity), they seem to have helped a lot, especially when aiming with flight assist off.

X52 clutch button fix

Hello all, new to the forum, after buying into the beta in the last few weeks. Got super addicted (this is my first space sim, like, ever) and was having so much fun even with an Xbox controller that I decided I needed to go the whole hog (pun!) and get a flightstick. Ended up going for a standard X52, couldn't find the pro in stock anywhere! :(

Anyway, had a bit of a funny issue with it which meant the clutch button was always enabled (even when the option was disabled in the Joystick settings!) which meant I couldn't bind or use that button to boost/afterburner as it was set to in the in game default x52 controller setup. It took me 3 hours of Googling to find a solution!

I want to share the solution, but just wondered if people think it's worth doing in this thread or whether I should make a thread specifically for it (ie so it's easier for people to find!)?

I'd for one would appreciate seeing your solution as it's pretty annoying having a button that's doing absolutely nothing at the moment ;)

Incidentally, just a link here I posted yesterday in case anyone is interested in a little refinement I've made for the X52 joystick. It's only based on someone else's idea but in a different form. Maybe the post got buried, maybe no-one's interested. Anyway I thought I'd mention it:

Please PM me if you'd like to try it. They're easily made, but I have a few if anyone's interested :)

Currently using:

• a (well greased) Warthog stick/throttle
• Saitek combat pro pedals
• TrackIR Pro 3

Waiting for:

• Oculus Rift CV1 (I would go with the DK2 but I'd prefer to hold out for the consumer version)

Considering:

• Voice attack

Bought the CH Products Combatstick for the game.
The stick itself seems very solid, great precise buttons and the axis look really sturdy. The throttle wheels aren't that good, but I guess it's better to have them, than to have none.

I don't have a throttle yet, and I don't think I will get one in the near time.
The only throttle one seems to get as a seperate product is the CH Products Throttle, and I can't find it anywhere except for 200+ €, when I read that it was around 130 € not too long ago.
Is it not being produced anymore?

I also realised I need to change my seating if I want to get any good, since I usually play on the couch, with mousepad beside me, works well for shooters, but with the Joystick I have to hold it with the left hand and can't use it on the keyboard...

I'm a lefty, so its a Thrustmaster T16000m for me.

Intersting on the RC Tx tho, I've got a FrSky Taranis I could have a go with, but I suspect the lack of buttons might limit it.

Ha, it is so annoying! What I found especially annoying was that the mysterious button 30 worked perfectly when I first installed and dove right in to the game. Once I tinkered in the settings, it broke :( I suspect there's a bug in the driver software that doesn't clear the registry value for the profile clutch when you uncheck the appropriate checkbox.

ANYWAY. The fix. I stole if from this forum post:
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=16972

You can read there, in essence there is a registry value you need to change to make it work..

1. Win + R
2. "Regedit"
3. Search for the string "AviemoreCltBtn"
4. Change the value of it to another button on the controller (I used 32, the mouse wheel click, as it isn't picked up by the game.. You can enter in hex or decimal, so pay attention to that!)
5. Replace every instance of that one registry key (I had about 4,think you get one per USB port you've connected the controller to)
6. Remove / reconnect the stick's USB

And that's it! :)

Thanks so much for that. I'll certainly give that a blast tonight when I get home. ;)

Combo setup

I am using the Nostromo n52TE speedpad and the Saitek x52 Pro joystick.

The nostromo gives me quick access to 20 buttons and a d-pad which i find more usefull over the X52 Pro throttle. I really like the X52 Pro flight stick. Just wish it was smoother for micro movements.
