Ya well I went back to the bar

I think it was more or less confirmed that the old E/F missions were removed after the discovery of Guardian ruins, because they were obsolete.Ah yes, good spot. I’d forgotten the old E/F missions and their crystal shards. That could well have been the Raxxla storyline. Maybe pulled because they wanted to extend the game timescale (profitsss?) and delay the Guardian stroryline start.
Of course we do have Guardian “keys” from the beacons...perhaps their use to get guardian blueprints is another obfuscation/red herring and they have a more pertinent use?
The beacons seem to me to be very ornate and ought to have more to their existence than merely to give us ancient keys to open the ground site repository.
Edit:
“Place that is not a Place, door that is also the key”???
Ya totally should have - good point - i blame the onionhead. On the plus side according to galnet - we are getting a princess (aisling) involved with spiraling stars (stargoids) … so fingers crossed.@simulacrae
Like it! But mate, stay off the onionhead, you dont want to wander around like a garlic-infused vagabond!
Stick to Lavian brandy, the discerning spacer’s intoxicant of choice!
But I am surprised that you didnt include Antal’s Utopia in that analysis.

Sounds to me like they might be working on Guardian tech!?
Has anyone looked there for Raxxla?

I took a huge interest in Utopia when i started PP as it seemed different from other factions and i couldn't help think there was maybe a connection there.@simulacrae

I think I disagree with you slightly on the dates for this. As far as I can discern the E/F missions apparently disappeared when rank-locking was removed from missions in the December 2015 v1.5/2.0 update. We did have some comments from FD reps in response to complaints that they should still be in the game but then it all went quiet, so I think they weren’t aware of the plot change. Which doesnt surprise me-I think the upper echelons of game designer/exec producer/DB would have kept that level of planning to themselves.I think it was more or less confirmed that the old E/F missions were removed after the discovery of Guardian ruins, because they were obsolete.
We also know that the discovery of ruins was supposed to be linked to Halseys vissions. This makes it quite likely that the Caretakers are beings that evolved from Guardian AI and / or implanted, exiled Guardians.
Though “Elite Dangerous isn’t a ‘hunt the Princess’ story”!Ya totally should have - good point - i blame the onionhead. On the plus side according to galnet - we are getting a princess (aisling) involved with spiraling stars (stargoids) … so fingers crossed.
Within Philip Sidney’s Arcadia, a ‘trifle’ for his younger sister Mary (child’s story), also describes a tale of a pirates stash, hidden below a great oak tree by Aristomenes.
With the inclusion of another shot of brandy this hoard is attributed to the 20th century mythology of Oak Island…
A certain scene within Phillip Sidney’s 'Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia' holds, a "striking resemblance" to that of an arcane mystery called the 'Oak Island mystery'. Where in both there’s a pirates hoard found under an 'oak tree' with a very specific burial method. = "Striking resemblance", "Pirates stash" and "myth".
Link: The story of Oak Island and Arcadia
This Oak Island is located in Nova Scotia, an alternate name for Nova Scotia is Acadia which is a shortening of Arcadia (A typical name at that time used by explorers of the age for new lands).
Frontier Development had an office in Nova Scotia. It closed in 2015. It developed the game 'Planet Coaster'.
There is a level within Planet Coaster based in 'Oak Island'. Not actually that surprising given its office was in Nova Scotia and Oak Island would be a prominent fixture in the local history.
Another phrase to describe 'Arcadia' is: "Arcadia, a paradise lost".
Anything is possible, afterall Worlds End is just off the A38 in Berkshire, me and the truck pass it lotsBut perhaps Raxxla is near Louisiana?
Some unknown species exists as far back as First Encounters journals..None?
In terms of development costs and time investment of the Guardian release and subsequent updates in terms of bases, gameplay loop, Ram Tah mission, beacons, lore, ships, weapons, modules, etc... Was that quite a lot for just a way to fight Thargoids?
A few community goals for the engineers to knock up some new weapons based on some Thargoids materials would have been a lot cheaper and quicker?
Another piece of development work that would have taken some time, money and resources... Did anyone work out why?
ANOTHER SPECIES?
M.C.S
Further details of Thargoid cultural history are coming to light as the co-operative team on the trans-species ship currently sitting North of the Edge are able to communicate in more depth with our newly re-discovered galactic neighbours.
They are, as predicted by Professor Innitu, inherently peaceable although there appears to have been a long history of warfare in the period before the beginning of what it so be renamed the First Trans-Galactic Conflict (previously known as the Thargoid Wars). In an era corresponding to the second millennium and expanding into the early part of the third, the Thargoids were in a constant state of armed conflict.
What is not yet clear from the details made available is whether the war was inter or intra species - that is, whether Tharg was fighting Tharg (Different races? Different Species? Different cultures? Different politics?) for dominance of a small sector of space or whether there was another, unnamed species involved.
IF the latter was the case, then we must ask ourselves the question: do they still exist? If so, how are they? If not, how and why were they destroyed?

COMMON HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
M.C.S
Both sentient Galactic species share, it seems, a common history of violence. The difference is that whereas humanity confined itself to wiping out members of its own species in the hundreds of thousands in the name of religion and progress, the Thargoids wiped out an entire sentient species. The full details of the past are not clear yet. In fact, it is not entirely obvious whether the 'third race' is genuinely extinct or whether they have merely retreated out of range.
The Thargoid's suggestion is that the third race is aggressive in intent, that it is being held back by fear of our joint technology and that it is likely to attack once more when it believes that its own technology has progressed to the point where it would win an all-out Galactic conflict. Their fear is that if the human/android race explores far beyond the current confines of inhabited space (as is likely once alien technology becomes widely available) then we may be at risk of attack and may even provoke a 'third race' attack on our relatively unprotected sector of the Galaxy.
The alien inter-actors have been at pains to point out that they have no wish whatsoever to enter into any further conflict, with ourselves or any other sentient species and they would almost certainly avoid taking part in any such war unless their own home systems was under direct threat. That leaves us in an almost identical position to the one we were in a short time ago: there are sentients out there, we don't know where they are and we don't know what they want, but there's every chance that they will come and get us - sometime. In view of this, we advise that Federal citizens think carefully before travelling outwith the current safe zone.
Fortunately, this appears to be an after-effect of a recent SpaceX launch. We likely don't have to worry about aliens IRL just yet. Back to our regularly scheduled tinfoilling.![]()
