I've started another approach to finding Raxxla. If it is in the game... then someone must of made it right? Let's look at their lead technical artists "Max Centra" to be specific, and his finest work, around the time Elite was released... that he cannot talk about because of NDA. I present to you the exploding Raxxlan robotics. I suspect the green cylinders in the back of the robots head are the bombs the lore talks about. If so, the Raxxla symbol is a warning sign. Raxxla is a trap.

Three may keep a Secret, if two of them are dead. -Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack (1735).
Pretty sure the three-green-eyed monster ain't Raxxlan; unless "DOWN" is Raxxlan for something...

Personally I think that Princess Astrophel and the spiraling stars simply points to this region of the sky:
picture21.png

Vega being princess Astrophel and the visible Milky Way are the spiraling stars.

Raxxla is somewhere in the triangle, I guess?
Did a hike out that way maybe 200ly or so, nothing popped up on FSS, but didn't scan all the systems (most were expectedly discovered)

The three eyes are actually bombs.. and they are on the back of its head read the illustrated book photo and text I posted from the only author that wrote about Raxxla and get back to us.

This 97 page illustrated book is by the author Steven Eisler- the legend.

Steve Eisler is the Pen name of Robert Holdstock https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Holdstock Holdstock's novel "The Dark Wheel",was included with the best-selling computer game Elite in 1984

As a long shot, regarding Vega and Tau Ceti, I spent some time on the course from Tau Ceti to Vega in supercruise until I got to about 1300c, (about 660 Kls travelled), at which point I thought I was too likely to miss anything I might encounter. I did the same for Tau Ceti to Sol. Nothing found either way.

I'm going to have another look for the Mayflower 97. I've plotted an economic route from Tau Ceti to 49 Ceti (iirc) which is the last inhabited system in that direction. If I find nothing I'll continue on to HIP 8178, then try a more direct route from Tau Ceti to HIP 8178 if that turns up a blank. I'm not that hopeful, as the Generation Ship Lycaon (in Alaunus) is broadly on the same course and I don't see two Generation Ships following such a close route (then again, the Lycaon was the one following the Mayflower's course...).

Went to hip 8178. Nothing and nothing in betweem though I must admit 30+ ly jumps.

I also checked HIP 8178 and surrounding systems a few weeks ago - sorry for not reporting back the negative results!
Thought I could at least share the distance sheet I have created, for those of you who haven't done this already by themselves.
It shows the coordinates for the route (vector) from Sol to Tau Ceti elongated up to a distance of 725 lightyears and makes it easier to check whether you are still on the right track. For a better overview I chose steps of 15 lightyears.

These discoveries were made long before the 3.3 beta. (At that time I was shadowing The Boss and his mean gang of DECE throat-cutters in the outer rim, in order to prevent them finding Raxxla and then keeping it for themselves. And also, I must admit, because he is well known for setting up great campfires with nice music, tons of booze and a dozen of nude girls jumping over the fire... Very funnier than wishy-washy Dr Kai's and Co... Aaah... happy past times.) Yeah, some sort of corruption of the database, must be.Almost all of these red dots are systems I discovered, tagged and sold. The system map icons appear in white and I can open them.Funny!
b3i2R07.png
That red/blue dot feature just doesn't work in my game, at least with long time visited systems. Nobody else has the same issue?

If so, there are tons of Raxxlas then... ;)
I would say yes. There are tons of potential raxxla. Each one has a 50-50 in it either is or it isn't. Us siths deal in absolutes. 😏

This is the more in-depth report of my survey of the sector Phaa Chrie in The Void region. I apologise that some of the numbers are approximate, as I did not take screenshots of my stats until I had been there for about a day. Also, I relied upon screenshots for some recordings and did not take as many as I probably should, see below for when this caused inconvenience. There is a bug that can affect my laptop causing a lockup when viewing the system map, so I did not take any screenshots of those, except when using the family desktop.

The purpose of the survey was to find anything that might correspond to 'the siren of the deepest void'. As such, there was a heavy bias on bright and massive stars. My technique for finding them was to set the map view to realistic and to zoom out as far as I could whilst still being able to see the stars around my current location, then to move around and look for larger stars or stars which seemed to be visible from farther away, or which appeared strongly blue. I also tried setting the map to map view and showing non-sequence stars only but found this was inefficient as the region in which stars are rendered was too small - I found the two neutron stars by accident (there are also some in neighbouring sectors).

As mentioned before, nothing related to Raxxla was found.

No Notable Stellar Phenomena were found. Six systems with surface biological signals were found. At least one biological signal was visited on every planet that possessed them. Three types of biological life were found: Crystalline Shards, Roseum Bioluminescent Anemones and Rubeum Bioluminescent Anemones. The most interesting of these systems was Phaa Chrie HR-N e6-0, which has one of the brightest stars in the region, with four bodies with Roseum Bioluminescent Anemones, all found on high-g worlds. Three of those worlds co-orbit and planets 3,4 and 8 also have rings, providing some of the more spectacular views of surface life in the region.

Seven Earth-like Worlds and seven Ammonia Worlds were found, with four of the Earth-like Worlds having been previously discovered. It was clear that multiple CMDRs have been through the region and it was not unusual to find tagged systems. The Dead Ends Circumnavigation Expedition may have been partly responsible, as there were relatively few mapped bodies when tagged locations were found.

Upon my return, the first page of data was turned in at The Print Works in Millese (just under 20 MCr) but the rest was turned in at Neumann Camp in Shinrarta Dezhra (approximately 600 MCr). I have a Deadly-ranked fighter pilot who will have taken some of the profit, however.

Currently, I am working on surveying a corridor of stars about 10LY wide and 725 LY long for signs of the Mayflower 97. Fly safe!

I think the Dark Wheel toast may have a different reference point.
I have some tests to do, to confirmed that this isn’t pure nonsence.
If there is something to this, the two lines should cross somwhere.

I’ve had a rethink about it also. Tyko’s on his way out to ngc 7822 again, but interrupted by Jorki reengineering the annie for long distance deep sky survey.

Has anyone tried lowering their rep with TDW in SD? Maybe if they’re a fake group, standing up to them might yield the attention of the real group.

But they’re not a fake group; as Felicity said in the Codex DW fakes are quietly shut down but they’ve been in business for several years. A DW member says in Elite Premonition that DW is a consortium, wheels within wheels, and SD DW is just the outer rim.

But try it by all means..

But all the missions disappeared, so they are just a 'shell' now - no point in making a noise about it..

by which I mean you can read Farseer's comment both ways..

The Club is actually the active group. Feel free to join my trello and read all the notes and images about them, as they were more recently invented as a group by David Braben confirmed by Drew Wagar. https://trello.com/invite/b/jXYrNr3...2d624e3/cmdr-bluecrashs-codex-elite-dangerous

at this point... feels like one of the hidden eggs in Ready Player One. I've gone back and reviewed every video interview of David Braben, making notes, and even reaching out to Ian Bell.

I wish we could verify Raxxla actually being somewhere, with more than David Brabens bar chat with Drew Wager. I know Raxxla has zero relevance on the game or game play. For example: reaching King/Admiral did nothing for game mechanics. Finding Raxxla will be a whimper and not a bang. (unless it explodes?! See my previous post with possible Raxxlan bombs) However, finding Raxxla, will ease our decades of search, and sleep at night would be good.

The group that finds Raxxla may get a free round of beers for the next 20 years of FDEV conventions. Or some Elite Commemorative socks.

But honestly – we are more likely to first discover the great monuments and grave sites of Robert Holdstock and Ian Bell, casting a shadow longer than whatever is discovered on Raxxla.

I sent Ian Bell some very specific science papers i knew he would like last year, thought about sending him some books off his amazon wish list. I know DB and him had a falling out, and the last version of elite they did together DB shutdown after only a year, releasing a new version out of their final contract. But, I really think there was a magic with the two of them with their hearts and heads in this world. Sadly, time determines who our friends are.

We should do a kickstarter, raise money for an IAN BELL DLC - he would probably refuse and respond with some Plato quotes...

But in my head, the project would be amazing.
