I am going to check tonight for planets named Beaumont. Since, EDDB was decommissioned that has become harder. Gateway after all had the old name Hope because of the planet. The shibboleth angle is always a bit convoluted given how many things could have been the reference.

If The Dark Wheel still exists, it is a far more ruthless organization than The Club. They have managed to keep proof of their existence buried and apparently do not let traitors remain for long. One of many ways to achieve that is cultural passphrases which if mis-spoken carry mortal consequences.

The ‘hero’ travels there either using a magical item, a silver branch, or apple etc; or is kidnapped, or tricked. Once there they experience time shifts and usually have to sacrifice something to return, such as memory or age etc,
A reminder about J. Jameson Jnr.:

This is what Holdstock had to say on Merlin in "About The Broken Kings":

The Merlin in my cycle of stories, the Codex, is a configuration of ideas; the endlessly travelling traveller; the man outside of Time; the wise man and the Fool, embodied in the flesh; the shape-changer who challenges nature. Merlin is the consummate dream of Power over Nature and Weakness over Man.

The CMDRs are special. They exist in different world from that of most humanity. They can travel in ways most humans can only dream. They control their destiny and can see outside of official narratives.

I also find it hilarious that so many CMDRs forget that the Duvals aren't the only royalty of this Universe. The Duval lineage is just the most famous. There are many kingdoms in Elite's Universe.

Never really got into that narrative but just noticed that one of its listening post is situated in Jotunheim.

So are all listening post AI?

Long time ago I used to think these narratives were only environmental storytelling seeding the forthcoming Thargoid narrative, but I do wonder now if they are more integral to the ‘wider’ Raxxla timeline?!

Likewise I used to think of the Genship in a similar light, until I noticed various hints behind them, like those I would not be surprised if these too were linked.

Interesting

Ya i remember at the time it seemed like it was trying to lead us somewhere - i just didnt figure it out. And with the possible reference to a storm god… it is one of those storylines that lingers in the back of my head. Interesting Jameson idea.

Maybe the Lady Who Speaks With Thargoids is actually an heir of Jameson but ALSO a cyborg called Unit 01 that can make antidote for the mycoid virus and ALSO has some nanite microcrystals in her head that ACTUALLY are the Nemesis Failsafe making her ALSO the virtual intelligence of Caleb Wycherley.

I did make an attempt at something like that recently. It felt compelling but at the same time intensely confusing as I lack the knowledge to extract anything sensible out of it all
ah ok cool yeah i just thought it was a very coincidental --> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-10375970 ... AND btw , i edited that post because i realized later i mixed up the word "acronym" with anagram ( i meant anagram , but i'm guessing u guys knew that and were just being nice to me the newbie lol )
Arx is latin for castle

Arcis is the the genitive of Arx... so Arx arcis could be the Keep of a castle?
Interesting indeed ! .... i can't wait 'til i'm more experienced ( aka richer ) so i can really start to EXPLORE and contribute to uncovering this mystery someday. 🤖
Welcome to the Quest!
Macros has a useful summary on the first page of the thread!
thanks and yeah i been reading as much as i can ... and... someone in-game also said apparently there's like some BOOK about 'Raxxla' , written by the original EliteD architects? ( i checked Amazon but couldn't find the right one yet )

Ya ive been playing this from the early days and am always skint. Cant be bothered to do the get rich quick schemes - so am currently waiting for the Arx fleet carrier bundle to be available in the store - i guess that still counts as a get rich quick scheme though… as to the mystery - ya we havent got far ( well anywhere really)- so lots of room for contributions ! o7

I've been enjoying the game lately more than ever before thanks to exobiology and what I'm doing doesn't even require any meta-builds, engineering, or unusual "exploity" methods. Exobiology hunting on 'first scanned' discoveries is extremely lucrative (tens to hundreds of millions of credits) for such a low effort mechanic and it scratches that itch of being out in the void while mulling over the Raxxla mysteries. 😁

Thinking back on things -was there ever any connection made to Project Thunderchild from the Saraswati? Was it an INRA thing or are we still in the dark?
Nope, never saw anything that came from/related to Thunderchild/Saraswati. A few of us hunted for other units that seemed to be hinted at but found nothing. A storyline that was deleted? Something missed? Just a hint at AI that hasn't yet been brought into the game (probably the next threat to fight after Thargoids are beaten?).
Who knows? Hopefully FD, but on that I have some doubts....
Did in passing come across a mythology reference to Saraswati last week, something about a possible link to Hecate and/or rivers of the dead...my mind and memory are currently swamped by Visual Basic (I found a serious error in my anagram testing spreadsheet- fixed that, now trying to figure out how to pass a list of dictionary names to be checked into a Function macro-why is the documentation so bad? Not even found the info in the VBA for Dummies guide)
Edit: now got a copy of Excel VBA programming for Dummies & from the TOC it seems to have what I was hoping to find, but strange it wasn't in the first book; now to read a couple of hundred pages to refresh my memory from around 2010 when I actually knew a bit of programming

Mmm, haven't got the patience to read that without more coffee, and short of time this morning. It was fairly clear at the time that a long-delayed light-speed message was picked up by a listening post (think it might have been that which started up my work on a check sheet for LP and UCB). I think Thunderchild was an AI anti-Thargoid entity (either sensor &/or weapon wasn't clear). Nor was it clarified whether it was still onboard GCS Sarasvati or whether it was mobile (a robot?) and had left the ship by some means. The associated numeric seemed to imply it was the first of a series so for a while some of us hunted for those, fruitlessly. It was discussed in this thread, ages ago. No, the LP aren't inherently AI (though it would make sense to incorporate that technology in the signals monitoring devices fitted)...the AI was Thunderchild (unit001) aboard Saraswati. I've always viewed the LP as remote signals monitoring satellites which detect and report their detections to in-game planetary-based monitoring organisations that use the huge dishes seen in many surface sites.

mmm, still pondering anagrams and playing with my spreadsheets investigating same. But Ive found an interesting thing-since starting (a couple of weeks back) my investigation with data for systems within 60 ly of Alioth I've realised I'd forgotten to include the number of bodies in each system. Trying to add the #bodies back in today I did another Spansh systems search for 60ly from Alioth & found a few systems seem to have disappeared from both EDSM and the Spansh system searches :
LHS 2921- unknown permit required
Blu Thua EK-Y b2-0
Traikoa VX-W b30-2 49.4ly - suspiciously all at same distance??
Traikoa VO-R e4-5 49.4ly - " " "
Traikoa FV-D b55-0 49.4ly- " " "
Byeia Thaa LS-Y c28-9 49.4ly- " " "
LHS 3091 57.99ly - unknown permit required

Anybody heard any reason why these should have been deleted?

Took a look in game - Traikoa VX-W b30-2 exists, its at approx coordinates (-1588.5/295/4720) - much more than 49ly from Alioth. I suspect that and the others were from the early days of manual input into the database and are possibly done in error?

Traikoa VO-R e4-5, Traikoa FV-D b55-0 are also out near the first one.

Byeia Thaa LS-Y c28-9 is also in game but fairly far out so shouldnt have showed up in the search i think

LHS 3091 is in game and close to alioth but permit locked... we were able to manually enter triangulated locations even ones you havent been to - maybe this one was never done that way? same goes for LHS 2921 i suppose.

Ah. Yes. I remember being asked to submit triangulation positions to EDSM years ago. So that partially makes sense, if the incorrect positions have been updated in EDSM that would explain why they didn't show in my latest Spansh search around Alioth. But the two permit locked ones should have appeared...possibly FD development/test systems? have they been removed from in-game or are they still in-game?
I used to monitor the EDSM thread. Probably need to post there or in their Discord...

Edit
at 13:46 just tried these again in EDSM - Blu Thua EK-Y b2-0 has moved around 1500 ly away (now at 1060.9375/ 358.0625 / 1555.125). But none of the other systems are recognised by EDSM system search...has Raxxla been removed from game?? ;)
;)

Well i gave up bouncing around Lucifer… didnt find any dark stations….

Moved over to Uror to check out an interestingly named minor faction: Ravenscar Securities who are not a player faction and are native to Uror. Just seemed suspicious… Ive gotten allied to them but no “special” missions yet.
"Nevermore" quoth the raven! 😉

(Well, someone had to say it! 😁 )

Mmm
"Titan Hadad is vulnerable!"
Hadad is an alias of Rimmon, one of Satan's named followers in Paradise Lost, and Satan is a subanagram of Taranis!
Stayed out of the Thargoids war (thumbs still painful after bashing 1000+ Scouts during Covid lockdown!)...where are the other Titans? Are they all PL-related?
Took me a while to realise that all ships are named after snakes AND this might be a reference to PL when Satan took a serpent form when he tempted Eve ...
From PL Satan's followers were: Satan (Lucifer, tempter, devil, serpent, Baphomet, old nick, Mephistopheles, Evil one), Beelzebub (Beelzebul, Belzebuth,Belzebub, Belzebu), Moloch (Molech, Molek), Chemos (Chemosh), Baal, Astarte (Ashtaroth, Astoret, Astarit, Inanna, Ishtar, Istar, Ishara, Ashtart, Astart, Athart, Attar) , Thammuz, Dagon, Rimmon (Hadad, Had, Hadda), Osiris (User), Isis (Aset, rusat, usa, else, esa, wusa)...a,iases in parentheses!

Astrophel sounds like "astro fell" ("for those with eyes to see" is stated in the codex. BUT the original (biblical IIRC) saying is "for those with eyes to see and ears to hear"), which implies "fallen star". "Princess Astrophell" could therefore mean a female fallen star- Astarte and Isis were the only named female prime followers of Satan in PL, however since Satan ruled in Hell then his daughter Sin could be viewed as a Princess...😁

All Titans are named after storm deities from varied pantheons: Taranis is Celtic, Indra is Hindu, Leigong is Chinese, Cocijo is Zapotec¹, Oyá is Yoruba, Thor is Nordic, Raijin is Japanese and Hadad is Canaanite².

Great catch on the "eyes to see" having a Biblical origin - it traces all the way back to Deuteronomy (which historians believe to be the oldest book of the Pentateuch) and is repeated multiple times in both Testaments.

¹ A peculiar choice, given that the Aztec Tlaloc and the Mayan Chaac are much better known Mesoamerican counterparts
² Later called Baal-Zephon, or just Baal - which was originally a generic title for "lord"

In almost every single epic myth, the new gods are assisted by one of the old ones who turns their back on the old gods in the name of peace 🕊️ ☮️. They are tri-form deities having domain over the underworld, the Earthly realm, and the stars. More often than not connected to agriculture (cycle of death and life), wisdom, and warfare. Amongst the Greeks, this was Hecate or Nyx in alternative versions. Gaia defied Cronus to save Zeus (sacrificing the Omphalos in the process). Regardless of culture, it is the same. With the Vikings, their were Aesir and Vanir, who after war inter-marry establishing peace for the future. In any case, the underworld sides with the heavens and someone who cross these realms is instrumental in ultimate victory. It should be noted that Zeus' brother is Hades and his wife was Persephone (goddess of spring and death). Persephone's mentor is Hecate, the Titaness who aids the Olympic Pantheon in trapping the non-compliant Titans in Tartarus in perpetuity.

Elite Dangerous is no different. The role of savior has been played numerous times: Cora (Kore) in the tale of Art Tornquist, Salomé, and more recently Princess Aisling Duval's resisting Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval's order of non-cooperation. Aisling Duval fought against this order because she believed in AEGIS.

Perhaps then we are looking for those who walk the fine line between heaven and hell and serve as bridges between the two realms or at least places that offer safe passage between realms.
