We ALL should protest against FDev while stop playing Elite dangerous!!!

Isn't that their loss? How is their eroding of their ED experience in anyway affecting any of us and our enjoyment of the game?

I keep seeing this tendency to worry way too much about "the other guy" all the time. What they have, how they got it, how it negatively impacts "their" long term ED experience.

WHO CARES?

I mean seriously. You reap what you sow. End of story.
I believe he just explained how it reduces the amount of targets he has as a pirate. It's not like he has my sympathies but it's a valid reason.

Nice! Where do you want your scarecrow delivering to?

Bad game design is timegating all the desirable, good stuff behind insufferable grinds and ridiculously bare and featureless progress bars. That's bad game design, right there.
Nope, 99% of all good games I know don't start by giving you the top gear in the very beginning. You don't start at level 100 in a RPG and you don't start with the biggest base in a RTS and you don't start with a finished story in an adventure.

PS
And that's as far as I am getting into this discussion. You either have no idea about video games or you see my point. There is no reason to waste your time trying to change my mind. You can't possibly come up with an argument that I didn't think about.

Not that I'd boycott this game but I'd sooner protest on the other end of the spectrum, credits are too high, stuff's too easy, galaxy's shrinking too fast, exploits are catering to entitled brats, just get rid of shields, carebears are ruining my immersion etc.

Cutter in a weekend woot.

It's a soulless ship anyway - sold my first one for a Corvette and my second for a T9.

It's really an abomination & aberration in the Elite universe - too strong, too fast, too much cargo, too dull for me ( your personal mileage may vary with the Cutter )

Best way, the large ships are ok but really, if I want to fly the biggest and baddest then just buy that game where you fight in cap ships, the game is more fun when in game currency isn't the focus, basically people want the biggest because the want to grind currency faster or feel invincible, but why, to get more and more currency, the human compulsion to gather, but you can resist and just enjoy.

I think 4 to 6 months is reasonable, unless you want to kill yourself grinding for it, then maybe a couple of weeks. I think it was around a year before I obtained a cutter, 4 months to obtain an asp but I didn't specifically grind for them. Credits, I think 10 mil an hour is a decent high end if using large ships.

It took me about the same amount of time to reach the Cutter purchase rank. I was already there on the Fed side when the Corvette came out.

If someone wants to do whatever they need to do to buy that ship in a week, more power to them! I really don't care. If they don't have the piloting or engineering skills to handle that ship properly, not to mention the INSANE costs of upkeep, they are going to likely loose that ship at some point, when they fail to produce the rebuy.

This kind of stuff often takes care of itself. Everyone that gets all bent out of shape by someone getting something faster than they did really needs to take a deep breath and get some perspective! You will NEVER have control over the actions of other players in this game.

The sooner you come to grips with that absolute reality, the happier you will be.

Can I have your stuff?

PS
I have a wife, a 10 months old daughter, a job and I am currently building a house. I don't have much time playing ED but when I have the time I don't feel like progression is too slow. Since you are unable to voice your opinion without realising that it's just an opinion I suggest that you and the rest of the vocal minority move on to a game that fulfills your needs for instant gratification.

Well that's great for you.
But some people do want to play the game, I mean it isn't real life.
They seem to make the game more difficult with every update and take away fun.
I'm not on about making it easier but a better balance for what a player puts in.
I mean the boards are full of wing missions, not everyone wants to play a in a wing and if you don't you seem to be punished with low paying missions.

Its the best ship in the game for Power Play hauling work. (750t capacity and still over 25Ly jump range fully loaded -- 38Ly empty) That is pretty much the only reason I keep mine around.

The Corvette totally owns the Cutter when it comes to pretty much everything else. Especially combat. :)

If these people want to use exploits and play a game with an I-Win-Button they should've bought a different game. It's not the game I bought and it's not the game FDEV wants to design.

I like the Cutter, I have one kitted out for exploration that has just passed the 40LY jump range mark. I think it looks great, sounds great and most importantly for me, has a presence in space that just can't be beaten.

Saying that, I also have another Cutter sat in storage that was meant to be a multicrew ship, but as MC was , never got used. I should repurpose that one sometime.

My Corvettes are progressing along slowly, engineering being the main obstacle to actually being able to use them as I would like.

Oh yeah, I also have two T-9's to engineer. One is a dedicated hauler, one a dedicated miner.

Grinding for credits I don’t mind too much but grinding to spend those credits with Engineers? That’s just ridiculous. It’s all out of control. Elite isn’t the only game in the world. When I compare what I can achieve in a days play in Elite to other good games like Witcher 3 ... there’s little incentive.

Go on, tell us how you did it them if it is as easy as you claim

I already had two Cutters before Volyboom, I spent some of that money on a new Corvette to add to the existing one, two basic T-9's for hauling and mining and a fully kitted Chieftain for shenanigans to be later disclosed.

But yeah, if I, or anyone else wanted to buy a Cutter in about an hour, Volyboom was the easiest way to do it.

To be honest, I'd be all over paying money to engineers to use their own materials instead of me going out there and engaging in the mindlessness of RNG rock shooting or wake scanning or relogging at Dav's Hope.

Gathering materials could definetely be improved, but after all the exploits I'd prefer that credits do not get used to engineer ships.
