I found an undiscovered system today. It had one planet with one biological signal, but no atmosphere.

It turned out to be Brain Trees. :D

It's the first time since Odyssey came out that I've discovered any non-Odyssey biologicals. I scanned them. The data was worth just under 8 million credits. :p

They’re still out there to be discovered indeed, along with Anemones and (apparently dwindling) Bark Mounds - must say they seem rather undervalued, considering how rare (not to mention relevant to current affairs?) undiscovered xenobiologicals are - Brain Trees should be worth the same as Stratum Tectonicas at least! :geek:

I haven’t encounter Brain Trees or Anemones since long before Odyssey but I encountered some Bark Mounds when I diverted to a nebula about halfway along my trip out to Colonia.
I didn’t investigate the mats as I didn’t have an SRV on board.

Curiously although they show up properly with the ingame tools they were not picked up by EliteObservatory and the BioInsight plug-in, I suspect because they aren’t Odyssey only I presume the others don’t show up either.

I believe they work like the other biologicals that provide mats, and so it depends on the composition of the planet.
Yeah, if you want a different set of mats, you have to find another planet with a different composition.
But at least, you can find not just one forest per planet. If you find one brain tree, you should be able to find hundreds or even thousands more.

Indeed, the planet was covered with them. I was not thinking about mats at the time, so I didn't even check for them (or even get into my SRV).

But I'll go back and look around, for science! Tomorrow, probably.

Today was an interesting day... Yesterday as well. Some pix:

My first encounter with one of Codger's Rocks. There were quite a few on this planet.

This ethereal beauty was also to be found there.

A ringed ELW? Close but not really.

Wait, WHAT? Oh, right, this is an alternate timeline...

I had seen it before I landed. But where is it?
