I found an undiscovered system today. It had one planet with one biological signal, but no atmosphere.
It turned out to be Brain Trees.
It's the first time since Odyssey came out that I've discovered any non-Odyssey biologicals. I scanned them. The data was worth just under 8 million credits.

I've never encountered a brain tree.
Being as I'm rarely in the black, it may take some time before I do![]()
I have found forests of brain trees in Synuefe TP-F b44-0...I've never encountered a brain tree.

Out of curiosity, what type of mats do Brain Trees offer up?There’s a good tour of several known Brain Tree systems here, also a nice way to go gathering materials - the region has quite a few more to discover still no doubt…

I believe they work like the other biologicals that provide mats, and so it depends on the composition of the planet.Out of curiosity, what type of mats do Brain Trees offer up?

Ah indeed, so they should still be the same, if the planetary mineral compositions are consistent - i think you’ll readily find everything & fill out your raw material supplies if you hop around there for a bitI believe they work like the other biologicals that provide mats, and so it depends on the composition of the planet.
Yes, those are Odyssey only tools. The Brain Trees did not show up there.they were not picked up by EliteObservatory and the BioInsight plug-in
Yeah, if you want a different set of mats, you have to find another planet with a different composition.I believe they work like the other biologicals that provide mats, and so it depends on the composition of the planet.
Indeed, the planet was covered with them. I was not thinking about mats at the time, so I didn't even check for them (or even get into my SRV).Yeah, if you want a different set of mats, you have to find another planet with a different composition.
But at least, you can find not just one forest per planet. If you find one brain tree, you should be able to find hundreds or even thousands more.
I actually haven't seen one lately. It's good to know they are still out there, codgering. My first encounter with one of Codger's Rocks. There were quite a few on this planet.
It's always like that, it seems. If there's one, there's hundreds on the planet. There were quite a few on this planet.
We need a new SRV with a soil radar module and some excavating equipment. It's always like that, it seems. If there's one, there's hundreds on the planet.
Maybe they are plotting something.
