What species are missing for you to complete your local zoo?

So, my nearest Zoo is the zoo in Vienna. The new pack give me the dikdik and the bear, that can be found in my local Zoo, but there would be so much missing:
  • Barbary Sheep
  • Barbary Macaque
  • White-nosed coati
  • Humboldt penguin
  • South American Sealion
  • Pelicans
  • Some NWMs
  • Himalayan Thar
  • Golden Takin (not in Vienna yet, but soon)
  • Blackbuck
  • Nilgai
  • Sika deer
  • Domestic Water Buffallo
  • Rhea
  • Seriema
  • Vicuña
  • Buntebock (in German it’s called Blessbock)
  • Common Eland
  • North African Ostrich (in German it’s called Rothals Strauß)
  • Another Subspecies of Giraffes (currently we have 2 older Rothschilds and 3 younger reticulated)
  • Dwarf mongoose
  • And of course many different types of flying Birds (Vultures, Parrots and so on)
Sadly I think, this one is the last pack, so none of this animals above will come to planet zoo. Mostly I am sad about the Asian Antelopes, the Pelican, the Barbary Sheep and the Vicuña.

Finally, after getting literally nothing throughout the entirety of 2023, we have some progress! For simplicity's sake, I'm just going to count these domestics as generics, because lol

So for Riverbanks, we now have alpaca, goat, chicken, and pig. They have since lost their Diana monkeys and false gharial (and dwarf caiman and binturong), and added Geoffroy's marmoset, Bolivian gray titi, tammar wallaby, and burrowing owl. Also since sloths have been definitively proven to be exhibit species, I guess that one can be removed since I was only doing habitat species. That leaves us at

Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC
  • North American river otter
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Harbor seal
  • Tammar wallaby
  • African spurred tortoise
  • Radiated tortoise
  • Burmese black mountain tortoise
  • Swan goose
  • Caribbean flamingo
  • Rockhopper penguin
  • Gentoo penguin
  • Common squirrel monkey
  • White faced saki
  • Golden lion tamarin
  • Geoffroy's marmoset
  • Bolivian gray titi
  • Fishing cat
  • Black footed cat
  • Burrowing owl
In-game species: Grizzly bear, "lion", Amur tiger, siamang, koala, California sea lion, king penguin, American alligator, Galapagos giant tortoise, western lowland gorilla, red kangaroo, red-necked wallaby, ring-tailed lemur, red ruffed lemur, North Sulawesi babirusa, meerkat, white rhino, reticulated giraffe, plains zebra, ostrich, "goat", "chicken", "pig", alpaca

For Greenville, we got the pig and chicken (and goat, why wasn't goat on my previous list? they've always had goats), and they lost their black swan and alligator snapping turtle. They didn't add any relevant new species in the meantime, so this one has pure progress as opposed to the give-and-take that Riverbanks got.

Greenville Zoo in Greenville, SC
  • Greater rhea
  • Domestic duck
  • Chilean flamingo
  • Southern screamer
  • Ocelot
  • Masai giraffe
  • Bat-eared fox
  • Schmidt's guenon
  • Angolan colobus
  • Geoffroy's spider monkey
In-game species: Giant anteater, American alligator, red panda, siamang, Amur leopard, Bornean orangutan, "lion", Aldabra giant tortoise, black-and-white ruffed lemur, "goat", "pig", "chicken"

I've long given up on getting most of these, but boy it sure would be nice if I could also cross off Hamadryas baboon and ocelot before things wrap up (assuming they haven't already, which I'm kind of 50/50 on at this point)
Two hits for Riverbanks (Hamadryas baboon and African spurred tortoise). None for Greenville. In fact, Greenville makes substantial negative progress, on account of going out of a whopping four species since I made my last list: lion, siamang, giant anteater, and even chickens. It has not been a good year for that zoo.

The Ramat Gan Safari zoo is relatively close to completion in the game, here's the list by area not including aviary birds and exhibit mammals. Animals with (~) have reasonable ingame substitutes in my opinion.

The zoo is in the process of transitioning from taxonomical areas to geographical areas so some areas are currently weirdly mixed.

While a lot of small species are missing, mainly primates and birds, I can recreate almost every major habitat with some minor substitutes.
Got a few species, I am decently content with this pack.

Barnyard and Zookeeper have added three more animals that live at Colchester Zoo currently - the alpaca, Kirk's dik-dik and African spurred tortoise. The tamworth pig could easily stand in for the Oxford sandy-and-black pig.
Species kept at Colchester since 1992, but not today, which have been added in Eurasia and onwards, include the Pallas's cat and takin (albeit the Mishmi instead of Sichuan, and the species never went on-display).

So for my local zoo, the highland wildlife park, the zookeepers pack adds likely the last key animal that I truly expected that would come, the Markhor have 2 habitats at the zoo mostly completing the entire inner walking loop of the zoo with all official game animals.

Animals Ingame:
  • Amur tiger
  • Arctic fox
  • Bactrian camel
  • European Bison
  • Reindeer
  • Grey Wolf
  • Japanese Macaque
  • Eurasian Lynx
  • Polar Bear
  • Przewalski's Horse
  • Red Deer
  • Snow Leopard
  • Markhor
  • Wolverine
  • Red Panda
Animals missing:
  • Bukhara Deer
  • Domestic Yak
  • Eurasian Crane - Sub with red crowned crane
  • Eurasian Eagle Owl
  • Eurasian Elk - sub with Moose
  • Great Grey Owl
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Himalayan Tahr
  • Mishmi Takin - sub with Sichuan takin
  • Eurasian Red Squirrel
  • Vicuna - Sub with Alpaca
  • White-lipped Deer
  • Scottish Wildcat - Sub with Pallas cat
Considering this very well could be the last update, I'll add in what animals are covered by mods and animals truly missing from the game:
  • Bukhara Deer - Bactrian Deer mod
  • Eurasian Elk - Eurasian Moose mod
  • Mishmi Takin - mishmi Takin mod
  • Vicuna - vicuna mod
  • White lipped deer - thorold's deer mod
  • Scottish wildcat - Scottish wildcat
Animal truly missing:
  • Domestic Yak
  • Eurasian Crane
  • Eurasian Eagle Owl
  • Great Grey Owl
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Himalayan Tahr
  • Eurasian Red Squirrel
20/27 species is a pretty good end result for a zoo that specialises in cold climate Taiga animals. I can actually seriously consider making this an actual zoo project if modders start looking at the more squirrels and owls.

The closest zoo to me is impossible to recreate with what we have. Sydney wildlife park is almost entirely indoors and has mostly small mammals and exhibit animals. out of the 42 species only 8 are ingame less then half the available habitat species.

Still missing any ducks :/

Most birds really, same as any new world monkeys. Or any African monkeys that are not baboons. Likewise no African crocodile, or fish, or just. A bit of stuff.

Detroit Zoo I'll only do notable species.:
1. Crowned Lemur
2. Common Eland
3. American White Pelican
4. African Spurred Tortoise
5. Japanese Giant Salamander
6. Arrau Turtle
7. Pig Nosed Turtle
8. Scarlet Ibis

18.Reticulated Python
19. Burrowing Owl (2025)
20. Grevy's Zebra (Most Important!)

Thrilled to get the spectacled bear for this. There’s still mammals we have that aren’t in the game but I feel like there are substitutes I’m fine with. I just didn’t feel that way about the bear though, it has to be that actual species.

So looking at mammals I’m good now. And can use mods in sandbox . Birds on the other hand…well I think we’re all in the same situation there.

Hmm. For my local zoo now it hasn't really changed:
  • Sumatran tiger.
  • Waterbuck.
  • Helmeted guineafowl.
  • Cape Barren goose.
  • Geoffroy's spider monkey.
  • Domestic yak (I think? They haven't been on display for a while but I'm fairly sure they're still around).
  • Domestic water buffalo.
  • Lace monitor.
  • Kunekune pig.
  • Gypsy vanner horse.
  • Miniature horse.
  • Various random chicken breeds.
  • Various 'wild' waterfowl (Eurasian coot, NZ scaup, common mallard, brown teal, black swan...).
For NZ zoos in general, all of the above, plus:
  • Serval.
  • Leopard tortoise.
  • Indian/Burmese star tortoise.
  • Bolivian squirrel monkey.
  • Tufted capuchin.
  • Golden lion tamarin.
  • Cotton-top tamarin.
  • Emperor tamarin.
  • Brolga.
  • Australasian fur seal.
  • Eastern grey kangaroo.
  • Parma wallaby.
  • South Island takahe.
Plus various exhibit animals:
  • Social huntsman spider.
  • Tuatara.
  • Goliath stick insect.
  • Bearded dragon.
  • Shingleback lizard.
  • Cunningham's skink.
  • Jackson's chameleon.
  • Madagascar giant day gecko.
  • Asian giant mantis.
  • African giant millipede.
  • King baboon spider.
  • Emperor scorpion.
  • Etc...

For my local zoo:
Kodiak Bear
Elk (unsure on the subspecies)
White-tailed deer
Bobcat
Domestic rabbits

Not a very interesting list, as PZ covers all the very few other species in the zoo, and about a year or two ago mountain goats would have been on the list by they had to leave.
Two of these animals can be swapped out for an obvious replacement, one isn't very interesting, and the other two would have been very nice to have.

Is it wildwood zoo?

Well the zoo I would consider my local zoo has some pretty boring choices missing to complete it, not much I think of as adding lots of value to the game.
  • Rockhopper Penguin
  • Wattled Crane
  • Nilgai
  • Gaur
  • Waterbuck
  • Blesbok
  • Dwarf Crocodile
  • Lowland Anoa
  • Francois Langur
  • Crested Macaque
  • Pere David Deer

But another zoo near me that I go to quite a bit has a much better selection of missing animals
  • Gelada
  • L’Hoest Monkey
  • Barbary Macaque
  • African Spurred Tortoise
  • Slender Snouted Crocodile
  • Greater Kudu
  • Kirk’s Dik Dik
  • Blue Duiker
  • Grey Crowned Crane
  • Humboldt Penguin
  • Southern Tamandua
  • Victoria Crowned Pigeon
  • Golden Lion Tamarin
  • Golden Headed Lion Tamarin
  • Coppery Titi Monkey
  • Common Squirrel Monkey

  • Rock Hyrax
  • Colombian Black Spider Monkey
  • Crowned Lemur
  • Goledis Monkey
  • White Lipped Tamarin
  • Pygmy Marmoset
  • Lion Tailed Macaque
  • Red Bellied Lemur
actually now missing more from my local zoo because we have got some new species such as Marabou Stork, Blue Crane, Banteng, Black Lemur
