'Crashing into a sun' really is no topic at all at 2000 times the speed of light. The time it takes to go through any ball of gas is somewhere in the thousandth of a second range. Even the naked human body would survive it without losing a hair.

Same goes for the swingby effect btw. Not relevant at relativistic speeds *does 25th loop of shame tonight*

2000 times is maximum supercruise speed not hyperspace, I said 20,000 times or greater.

Also, stars are not balls of gas
they are balls of plasma with dense cores that are mostly made up of elements as heavy as iron or heavier.
at 20,000 times the speed of light your ship could survive grazing the corona or the layer under it, but any deeper will cause a problem.

hitting a star at that speed would be like a bullet hitting ballistic jelly with variable density. with the corona and the layer under it being more like jello than ballisitc jelly

Gravity and quantum friction is not necessarily a problem for the FSD while its in the hyperspace state but hitting a large amount of mass while in transit very well could be, for it and your ship.

Agreed it doesnt matter how fast our ships go if we tried to pass through a star our ships would be vaporized and become one with the star in short order. If something somehow had the power to penetrate through a star it'd likely blow the star up in the process thatd be some serious kinetic energy.

To put this into further perspective think about how photons behave inside of a star. They are generated in the core yet the interior of a star is so jampacked and energetic that it takes them upwards of a 100,000yrs to reach the surface as they bump into and ricochet off of other particles. If a massless photon has so much trouble passing through a star I dont see how solid matter could stand a chance let alone do so in less then a second.

But there was no question of crossing a sun or other dense object. We can avoid obstacles.

If the ship is blind while in hyperspace we can regulate its speed between a kind of slower hyperspace to regulate the fuel consumption, and a kind of fast supercruise to calculate the following mini hyperspace jump toward the next star and so on until reach the requested destination.

I don't know really how to do, i'm not a scientist and i don't really know the imagined science in the 34th century within elite dangerous, but this game need a solution to make the long journeys less boring and less time wasting while keeping the feeling of the absolute immensity of the galaxy.

That's why i suggested 20 to 40% slower travel but no waste time......... in addition of the existing fast short range jump toward suns.

I think it a bad idea. When you start looking at the stars close to the core when everything .25 .35 ly apart. Even slow It a bad idea. I think Frontier will rather use it resources to make landable earth-like world or Walking on station or ships.

You think our CPUs will be overwhelmed by the events ?

It more on the line can Frontier Servers might not be able to handle it.

My setup I getting 120 fps in the game on max settings and 6 core CPU 4.1 GHz Geforce 1070 8gb ram. So my setup I should be good.

OK, but it's just a game. Frontier can cheat with little things. No need to complicate things, no need to make the ship computer make a lot of calculations. The important is to make a game consistent, playable, fun and desirable.
I don't know if it happened to you but i lost 2 journeys full of datas because i fell asleep while fuel scooping in the great space. We can't decently jump and jump and jump and rejump for an entire day. For me it's a flaw to eliminate.

Sounds like you need to take a break once in awhile it's just a game no need to play till you pass out. Plus playing too much like that can lead to things like a stroke down the line.

The two times i lost my ship was after coming home from work, I wanted to relax a bit and continue my journey in the game and then ....... ZZZZZzzz........BOOM...... :O Grrr !!!!

Bum luck man sorry for your loss. I've never fallen asleep playing a game but almost did a few years ago when I was driving 1,200 miles to some land I bought in the Colorado Rockies. Was building a hunting cabin and was driving out there almost once a month and besides almost falling asleep I would routinely get hypnotized by the road. It's a weird feeling where you suddenly can't remember the last 20min or so. I'd get out and check the front of my car for blood or bicycle horns to make sure I hadn't creamed anybody while zombied out lol.

Well that was your fault. You could have been driving a car and be tired and it could have been boom and you are dead. You know what police tell you when you drive and your tired is park your car off the road and take a nap and then drive. Do the same thing with the game. If you are tired LOG OFF THE GAME. Don't risk your self due to a stupid act.

Dont just pull over anywhere though I did that once and they yanked me out to see if I was drunk. It was somewhere in bumfunk Texas that had almost no rest stops so I finally just pulled over on a side road.

Ok but it's a game. I don't pay the same attention between a game and the reality. But it served me as a lesson, i never exploded while fuel scooping after that. I told to myself that you can have an "accident" in the game.

Don't worry, I live in a caribbean island that you can cross in one hour by car and i'm very attentive when i drive.

Nice man wish I lived somewhere like that...except when hurricanes come around lol I live on the gulf coast and know how nasty they can be. And yeah it's just a game you might have lost a good bit of creds but your Cmdr is immortal so it wasn't the end of the world or nothing.
