I thought the AX MCs were garbage too? I use Guardian Gauss cannons (whatever their proper name is!).

They are but for the longest time that's all we had in addition to missiles.
And you dont need to do anything special to get them.... if you own horizons.
If you want to blat scouts to smithereens, turreted AX MCs are decent tbh.
We did a small ship one hour scout hunt, no gauss allowed, i thought i was in with a shout at the win with 30, but CMDR Butthead69 won using shard cannons, he got 33-34 iirc.

I don't believe they work as turreted unless you have a CMDR as crew unfortunatly.

Cemiess: 127 LY from Sol (X+Z+) ... but really quite close to Achenar!
Rabh: 121 LY from Sol (X+Z-)
Gabjaujis: 199 LY from Sol (X+Z+)
Gabjaujis -> Rabh -> LHS -> Cemiess I think you could very roughly interpret as a path from the edge of the bubble towards Achenar, if you play "join the dots", though that might just be coincidence.
