Thargoid Data Gathering Effort: We need your help!

That's 1 cool story! And you were scarily close to be pancake flambé! lol. You've not been back to that area?? Man I would of gone over it with a fine tooth comb! In a cheap ship! ;)

Curious that QA asked about barnacles out of the blue on your bug report thread......

I spent two days or so in the area! Didn´t manage to actually repeat the experience, but I know of other commanders that experienced the same.

I think limiting the search time to 10 minutes is quite reasonable. Once again, we may need a way to implement "hot areas" (points of coordinates) so we can focus the search based on findings. For instance, let's say someone experiences again the module damage as I did in the story I told before: We may then need to add the coordinates where this happened as a "hot area" and coordinate search in it.

The latest version of the plugin has a news facility. I can put a message and a URL in a spreadheet and it will show up in the plugin.

The primary purpose was to enable me to nag people to upgrade. But it could also be used to direct people hotspots or whatever.

Not Gibberish at all

CMDR drops out of supercruise
App tells them to proceed to coordinates and drop to 2km ( click next ) or cancel
CMDR Reaches coordinates and clicks next
App tells the commander to change their bearing to X and fly in a straight line until they reach the end coordinates keeping 2km above the ground. (click next to submit report)
CMDR reaches objective and clicks next
Exit Poll appears in web browser
CMDR confirms that they finished the patrol and either found something or didn't or maybe their search wasn't all that thorough
App tells the commander to go to the next set of coordinates

I don't think we can ask that commanders circle the entire globe. If the search isn't broken down into short stretches then people might not finish them. If they are too short then they might get fed up of clicking on the form. We could use butting to submit the form without firing up a browser but I would be concerned that people could press the wrong button.

So what would be an acceptable flight time? 10 minutes might be about right? Assuming 250kms then each search path would be 150mm? That can't be right can it? The radius of Merope 5C is 1,478km so the circumference is 9,286km

Have to go so leaving this here :)

Seem to remember from my navigation course days that you have to fly due north-south or east-west, otherwise to fly a great circle route you have to change bearing as you go.

Hey there.

I went to visit the newly discovered inra base, the one used as a bait to test new weapons on the aliens. Listening to the 3rd log I realize there are actuall Thargoid battle sounds there. So I extracted the audio and cleaned the back noise.

https://vocaroo.com/i/s0G3Icm3hSqN

There are two interesting sounds:

1) The weapons firing at first sound a lot as the Thargoid blasters. May this indicate that the "mothership" they are talking about may actually be one of the Interceptors we are finding nowadays? Or may it mean that INRA tried to reverse engineer the thargoid weaponry?
2) Just before the "missiles" (assuming they are missiles) hit, you can hear what appears to be a Thargoid wail, but it is vastly different from any sound emitted by the Interceptors. May this be a clue that there are still new ship types to be discovered or killed by?

By the way, LCU: I have finally being hyperdicted for the first time (Finally!). I can confirm your plugin did capture the event perfectly :)

Thanks for that :).

If you'd like, you can instal LCU´s plugin with EDMC to automate the data gathering. You only need to enter in the NHSSs and everything will be automatically uploaded. Simple! https://github.com/NoFoolLikeOne/EDMC-USS-Survey

Or, if you prefer, you can use our google docs forms to upload your sighings to the database. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...ry.829248547&entry.1395484353&entry.191907177

Thank you very much :)

It would very much appreciated I wanna leave no stone unturn. there more to the probe, link, and sensor I already have the 3 on me just not the heart

We have an outlier on the NHSS map Hyades Sector GW-W d1-71

It was manually entered by an unknown commander on the 5th October

This one got angry because I accidentally destroyed the escape pod it was scooping. May be signifiant...

Ring any bells?

If we can establish human error as the reason then we will need someone to go out there and cruise for NHSS. Given its distance from Merope I would hazard a guess that you would have to be in system an hour before you saw anything
