My docking computer actually reversed me into the station once and I have all but given up on it though its not so bad in anything but the lakon 9 where it just go's mental or did in Beta 1.4 idk if its any better in the new beta as I haven't tried the lakon 9 in the latest iteration.

Is slow with the other ships too so I only use it when I wanna make a cuppa etc.

right now i find it the most useless piece of equipment you can fit on your ship, well at least the music is fine i guess.

A major gripe with the DC: The music. It is classic Elite and a wonderful reminder to my old Elite days as well as the docking sequence to 2001: A Space Odyssey. But, in these days of powerful multitasking PCs I often like to listen to my own music while playing games. The docking music ignores the music settings of the game! Listening to 2 songs at the same time is rather annoying :/

I completely agree- I listen to my own music too whilst playing!

I've already logged a ticket about the fact that the music plays irrespective of music volume in the audio options. I guess it's not a priority- Frontier still have it listed as New and untouched, and this was a couple of weeks ago!

Can't find a Docking Computer for an Anaconda (HELP!)

I've been to Asellus Primus, Aulin, Opala, and Chi Hercules and can't find anywhere with a Docking Computer for sale for my anaconda :(

Can anybody point me at a good planet please as this thing's properly difficult to land.

If you earned the credits to buy an Anaconda why in all the 400,000,000,000,000 (give or take a few zeros) stars would you want a docking computer?

Docking computers can't even handle a Cobra Mk III, I've had it get through the slot and then just shut down inside the station leaving me floating.

Not to mention the fact that it takes like 8x as long as docking manually.

They're utterly utterly broken at the moment, you're better off without one.

If you manage to buy a docking computer for it, you won't keep it for long as the original programmer of the docking computer must have been on crack.

I use a docking computer on my Anaconda - just line it up at 3 to 5KM with the opening and let it run. Keep a eye on it I've had to take over twice out of 100's of times.

I use a docking computer on my Reactive armored Anaconda not because I need to but for the safety of those flying around me.

I found I don't 'run over' as many of the small ships and with the computer normally it goes slow enough it don't kill them, just pushes them out of the way.

When I was docking it - well if you don't get out the way you get run over - plain and simple.

I did have a player today ask if I was drunk while the computer was docking - lol

Moral is - my docking computer is for player safety - I don't have to have it.

Hej mat mate try and learn to fly it , it is not really hard.
Get a HOTAS, life is simple.
Docking computer at present state will cause crying.

Cheers Cmdr's

Got one from Aulin, just to see if it was as bad as the one I had on the Hauler.

It was.

The music is amusing, but the slow and misaligned course it takes frequently crashes into other ships and the station (causing instant annihilation), so manual docking is STRONGLY recommended.

Just an FYI...

I had a docking computer once on my anaconda.... Once.

It was interesting (the music, not so much) all the way up to when I looked up and seen I was halfway through my 10 second countdown for loitering...

Then I took over, docked post haste, and immediately SOLD it.

I bought a docking computer just for the nostalgia, I remember them from the original Elite. I enjoyed listening to the Blue Danube waltz again whilst it did it's thing, it got through the letter box pointed down at the deck and just floated there. I took over docked and immediately sold it.

I am firmly in the "use once, never again," camp when it comes to the docking computer on a larger ship after my first docking in my first 'Conda. It went all fine and dandy through the slot but then the thing decided to fly nose first, upside-down into the port. Luckily I was able to take control and land safely.
Needless to say, It was promptly sold and I have been happily flying into stations at 130 speed since.

If you still want one, best look at industrial and high tech systems.

You do not need one fella!
They are great for newbies with nothing to lose, but they are quirky, error-prone and soooo slow to dock.
