Hi Cmdrs,
I am looking for an image view of the entire galaxy map, as in the first post "galactic overview", but without the limits of the 11 maps.
I want to use it as a background image in an Excel chart to track the journeys of exploration.
Do you know if this picture exist, and where to find it?
Thank you in advance.
I'm not sure if its possible to still get a screenshot of the entire galaxy now. The one I took for the overview in the OP was taken during gamma when it was possible to zoom the in-game map all the way out and fit the whole galaxy on one screen.. but since then we can't seem to zoom out as far.
I found this one on google images but I don't think its the actual game map, although its pretty close

I don't think it has been made, but it would have to be a 3d map, since procedurally genrated sectors are cubes of 1000 Ly side, at lesat 2 fit on tue Y axis, and probaly 4 in the core region.Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere, but has anyone put together a map of all the galactic "sectors" as defined by the procedural generation engine?
Hi
I mentioned this a while ago now but don't think there were any responses to it. I'm sure this has been noticed before, but there appears to be a thin band of L class stars across the majority of the Galactic Plane (possibly all across the central plane but haven't fully checked yet). The band looks to go on forever and is only about 15LY deep. I've put a YouTube link here: http://youtu.be/UgKEDL1Qlw4 so you can see what I mean (Apologies for the fairly poor quality video)
Although I only had my filter set to L type, there's also a band of T and Y Type stars mixed in with the L Types. Just seemed strange that there's this layer of the galaxy that's predominately 3 types of stars only. Anyone else spotted this?
It's one of the least visited areas but there have been a few reported trips there and, no doubt, more unreported ones. The outer rim has been mostly mapped via Svenno's "Search for the Loneliest Planet" and my own "Trips to the Galactic Limits". The only nebula I visited in the region had already been fully tagged by a couple of CMDRs. But it's a large area and I'm sure you'll find large parts of it haven't been visited by anyone.
Thanks for the very helpful answer.
Then will i go to some of the nebulae, i think.
How can i add my explorations to this community project, if i find something interesting?
That's common. These are the neutron fields that you'll see people refer to and which basically form a double donut shape around the core at +/- 1,000 LY or so.
Outside the core (and the hand-crafted area around the human bubble), it's hard to find a white dwarf other than at around -1,100 LY even though they should be common throughout the galaxy.
