Thrustmaster Warthog Stick @ Amazon £159.64

Brand new, and on sale at Amazon for £159.64. STICK ONLY - NO THROTTLE.
You may have an existing throttle unit (maybe a Saitek) and just want the Warthog stick.
RRP £297 apparently.

Got a still functional sidewinder prescion 2 and xbox 360 wired controller.

I will not be getting a new joystick as this one works fine and the Xbox 360 controller isn't a million miles different from the original 3rd party joystick I used in 1984 on the BBC.

Quick couple of questions:

I'm a total novice when it comes to flight simulators. Was thinking of getting the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System as lots of folks are saying how good it is. Do you think it will be way above my head as a novice or is it easy to get used to? Added to this does anyone know any shops that sell it in the UK, as so far have only managed to see it on Amazon and E Bay?

pc world in oldham had the x52 on the shelf, was a bit tatty but on the strength of it i bought the pro online. happy with it so far, responsive, comfy to use etc.
now i want something like this to put it on though

A Warthog with 7.5cm extension mounted to an Obutto R3volution. Got it used on craiglist for half price in MINT condition, so worth checking out.

X52 Pro ... 2 of them :D

Snap, just encase the first one breaks. cant imagine playing elite without one.

at the inside showcase they had the X52 setup with the option of xbox controller and mouse n keyboard. X52 won everyone over.

As of about an hour ago I won the bidding on a CH Pro Throttle (£44.24) and CH USB Fighterstick (£31.00). Both used by a chap for playing civilian flight sims, so I suspect they haven't been handled too roughly. The bidding on the pedals got too rich for my blood, so I suspect I'll have to buy them new.

Still, I'm nearly ready now

I use a wired Xbox 360 controller.

I did buy a Saitek X52 and returned it but before it was returned I opened the box and looked at it (no seal on box) and I have to say considering the unit is rather pricey, it looked very cheap and 'plasticy'. Looked more like a kids toy than an expensive accessory. But, I can't go on how it played as it didn't take it out of the box, just going off looks alone.

I took mine out of the box, tried it for a few hours, packed it up and returned. The ergonomics and quality just weren't acceptable. I'm rather confident of the CH stuff I have on order now

Thrustmaster T.16000M here too which, mind you Mr Boss, is only collecting dust at the moment as I'm only a Beta-person. Just saying. :p

Joysticks with 2 USB ?

Hi,

Are the joysticks with 2 USB (Throttle and Stick seperated) are supported in the alpha version right now ? if no then are they planning to put it in the beta ?

Just want to know.. cause i bought the x55 HOTAS and i am waiting for this confirmation before pledging up to the alpha version. I am very interested to participate in the alpha but the problem is that i don't want to get it if i can't play it yet with the joystick.. in that case i will wait for the beta.

I would be glad if any got this info!

Thanks!

Joystick/Controller Configurations

I'm a new Alpha tester and it is taking me an absolute age getting my old Cyborg 3D Gold joystick set-up the way I would prefer.

So, I thought it would be a good idea for all Alpha testers to give new testers a basic idea on what would be a good configuration for their joystick/controller.

There are currently, a few default configurations within the set-up menu but, not all joysticks are catered for.

So, anyone care to share their configurations?

I know every ones tastes are different, but with the basics provided, we can tweak to suit our own tastes.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Dryza Bone,

There's loads of great info in here on joysticks etc.

Threads mereged. :)

I'd be interested to hear if anyone is successfully using the t-1600M stick and is comfortable with it.

So far, nothing is beating using the mouse for me and I have the above stick, plus an x-52. The fine controls are far superior with a mouse than a janking great lump of plastic, but maybe that's my delicate hands ;)

The t-1600M inparticular is terrible, I've calibrated, tried the target software, all sorts. Problem is it has massive deadzones and almost no fine control, especially with rolling. So I'll move the stick several mils...nothing...then suddenly very fast roll rate.
I bought the t-1600m some while ago specifically for Steel Beasts Pro tank simulator, and in that it has no such issues, pertinent given the reliance on very fine control of the X axis when tracking targets.

I'm inclined to think that at this stage joystick support needs considerable work, so I'm not so fussed, I seem to be getting on well enough with the mouse anyway.

I can't see the preset for the saitek x55 rhino in the pulldown menu in the alpha? Also the Saitek x 55 is 2 usb connections but this is supported? Thanks.
