If one stops and think about it, a "docking" computer is about having a system to move in - and out - of stations. The critical issue in docking is not so much the actual landing but the transit through the slot, especially for the larger ships and this happens when entering and exiting a station.

I suggest that if docking computers are available that are for more than nostalgia sake, then those computers should program both the arrival and departure of the station boundaries.

I think that is a very relevant point

There's quite a few self righteous pretentious idiots posting on forums these days.....

If people want to play with a Docking Computer then so what? It was one of the most iconic gaming moments in the Original Elite when I was first playing, I was amazed back then at the thing :D

So guess what the first bit of kit I just bought was? ;) Do I care if some think its sad? I can dock manually just fine thanks but the DC is FUN :D

You can use it or not as it suits YOU!

Let people get on with their game the way THEY want to play.

Its a GAME :D :p

Agree 100%!

The docking computer is just fantastic

I had a big grin on my face due to reminiscence the whole docking procedure :)

Well done, its exactly what I wanted and I'm so happy to have it in the game :D

I sold mine, disappointed when it took 4 times longer than manual dock and very sad it didn't play Blue Danube!
Will come in handy on the big Lakon though.

It does play it as you can see from the vids, not sure why yours didn't. It's not fast, but thats not the point, its safe and automates one part of the journey.

As you say though, in a Lakon it'll be very useful.

I got the computer. Nice to hear The Blue Danube.
I am deliberately starting the docking as far away as possible, just to listen to the music.

Having looked at the vids, I now know why there are ships doing stupid maneuvers in stations.

This is one autopilot that needs some more lessons in flying.
