I'm honestly hoping we'll get a computer that does the undocking too.
Yes.. and AI Wingmates, and cruise control, and a trade computer extension in game.
Just some quality of life basics to make the game tolerable.
I'm honestly hoping we'll get a computer that does the undocking too.
DO NOT fit one on a Clipper, it's very bugged and you'll just spin around the slot for 10mins, on the T9 it's a joy though.
I have read it before but forgot what I read, and did a search but got a Gazillion hits......
So tell me again, how do you override the DC? I put one in my trading Python and although it seems to work well, it does make some strange maneuvers. I just wanna know how to turn Hal off. LOL

So a few nights ago, I lazily let the docking computer take control of my ASP while I am still 6klms from the station and switch to another window to browse, when it decides the ship coming towards me does not exist and can be ignored. I turn around just in time to see the collision. Instantly my hull is down to 27%, the other ship is toast, and I am now Wanted.
Manage to escape despite the authority vessels homing in and taking my hull down to about 4%, dock somewhere else and get fixed up.
About an hour later almost exactly the same thing happens again, except this time I don't escape and eat a re-buy (also losing the cargo of gold, damn it).
So now that two of the systems I was making a nice trade profit in are hostile, I move off to new grounds and resort to taking my ship inside the stations before letting the docking computer land me. All is going good for a couple of hours, and then all of a sudden the damn thing goes nuts and crashes me into another ship again, causing it to spin off into the wall and explode. Yet an other 6600 bounty and wanted status.
I think my docking computer has gained sentience and has decided to kill me for my dismal piloting abilities.
Hmm I use the docking computer all the time, I request permission to dock and go grab a drink or have a smoke or whatever 1000's of times. I did come back once nose to nose to a type 9 that was stuck in the space station entry window and it was promptly fined then blasted out of the window with me nose to nose with it and I didn't lose any shields or take nay damage so I just kind of assumed that when the docking computer was active I was "in god mode" for that short while. I also had the docking computer nose first me into the landing pad of a couple outposts a few times and both cases I suffered no shield or hull damage. Nose first at a pretty good clip, fast enough that I thought I was toast but the docking computer just righted the ship and proceeded to dock.
It helps if you always extend your landing gear before allowing the docking computer to take over. This can be inside the station or outside, as you prefer. What this does is prevent the computer from boosting. I've made this my standard procedure, and have never seen the computer retract the landing gear.
